It is a perfect way to of ended the series by far. I have watched this one the least out of them all and yet I still think it is brilliant, it is genuinely amazing in every way. It has that sparkle of light about it. This one does have the Slitheens, it has Luke who has been pushed away from the truth. And Mr. Smith helped the Slitheens to capture him.

The best day of Luke's life?
Sleepin_Dragon4 August 2022
Sarah Jane is shocked when a couple put out an appeal for their missing son on the news, to their astonishment it's Luke.

It's a really interesting story, I love the mystery and the intrigue, and seeing Sarah Jane have the one thing she loved more than anything taken away really does add something. We do see a different side to her here, she's hurt, she's sad, and she's a bit angry.

It's quite some time since I last saw this show, why did I seem to think that Alan spent the whole time oblivious to what Maria was up to, that was an interesting scene.

A few nice references to Logopolis, The Faros Project.

As an end of series story, I'd say it really does deliver, it's a cracking first episode, 9/10.

Family Strife

Review of both parts:

This story finishes the first season really strongly.

People show up with seemingly unarguable evidence that Luke is their son and both Luke and Sarah Jane have to come to terms with him being taken to live with these mysterious parents. His friends Clyde and Maria are not happy to accept Luke being taken away and meanwhile Luke is kept in his room by his parents who are increasingly defensive.

The emotional aspect of this story is powerful as we see a family and friends torn apart. The acting and script is very effective and touching. The mystery and suspense is very good and when the drama unfolds it creates plenty of fun and excitement.

This is a strong finish to a very impressive opening series of this Doctor Who spinoff.

My ratings: Part 1 - 8.5/10, Part 2 - 8/10.

Series 1 average rating - 8/10.

Review of both parts -

A missing child turns out to be, both visually and genetically, Luke. Sarah is forced to hand him over to the "parents". Heartbroken, Sarah rejects Maria and Clyde, and with Maria's dad threatening to sell the house to keep his daughter out of danger, it seems the gang's adventures have come to an end, whilst Luke discovers his new "parents" are not all they seem - an old enemy has returned, and this time, they are in league with a member of Sarah's faithful team in a plot to bring the moon crashing to Earth.

I changed my mind about Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane? being the finale but this 100% feels like a finale! The tone of the episode was strangely dark. A very clever plot twist that Mr. Smith is actually "evil"

Brilliant writing and acting, just a great season of this Doctor Who spinoff.
