I Understood How Before I Saw This. Now I'm Confused
boblipton19 April 2023
Actually, this is a pretty good explanation of how television images were captured, transmitted, and received on the equipment available in Great Britain in 1950, although I doubt the TV sets were that small.

The first regular televisions transmissions in Great Britain began in 1936, and programming was very high brow. Advances were suspended during the Second World War, just as they were in the US and Germany. With the coming of peace, more programming came online, and by 1950, a middle class audience was interested in purchasing sets. Meanwhile, people who were hazy on how their radios functioned were eager to see short subjects like this.
