Best pilot yet
josephf-050839 June 2021
It's amazing how in one episode it has just completely dominated the falcon and winter soldier and given us a pilot that we absolutely loved!

That was such a niche reference and made me so happy. Great episode but that scene in particular got me so hype!

Intresting and the best MCU pilot episode to date.
harry-345189 June 2021
This epsiode jumps straight into the weird and wonderful world of Loki wityh some of the MCU's most complex and intresting ideas. We get hints to the MCU future and this is the first show that I feel is closest to movie level and it feels like its a part of the MCU not a side journy. This episode ends on a slight cliff hanger and it keeps you gripped. The writing is very strong and the acting is also very good. The score is amazing and it helps the episodes gut punches (there are a few). There are some very funny gags. However the episode does take place for the main part in one room and that may loose people. This is a reinvetion of Loki and I love it and I am very excited for next weeks episode.

Solid start for the series
JacJulianC9 June 2021
Pilot episodes are always vital for a tv show's success and this first episode does not disappoint. Everything seems fluid and sets up the story and characters that will be involved in this show. I can't wait for the next episode already.

Very solid premier

This is the best Disney plus premier, hands down. The episode is pretty nice, not too much to complain about. Tom Hiddleston is awesome as always, along with Owen Wilson.

Really good episode.

What's all the fuss about?
eldreddsouza14 June 2021
I fell for all the hype and got myself a Disney+ subscription. What's with reviews stating this is the best pilot and what not? It was decent at best. Must be the teen marvel fanboys who think Marvel movies to be "Real cinema".

Because of all the hype I was thoroughly disappointed. As an episode, I thought it was okay. Full of slapstick and childish chase, I don't see what all the fuss is about.

Anyway, to each one his own. Peace.

Timecop with lame humor
petersjoelen19 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The starting when loki was judged by this time universe is stupid as hell with childish humor created to make fun of his character .

I was briefly thinking about timecop and over there the story was 10 times more interesting than this bizar plotline .

Immensely better Pilot episode compared to Wandavision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
allkillahnofillah12 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
1) The struggle and the conflict made sense compared to Sam's family getting a bank loan.

2) So much more info are explained albeit some are still kept in the dark compared to WandaVision where you need to wait until later episode to make sense of the series. We actually see how the end of the first Avengers movie impacted Loki.

3) We even see how Loki died, although this show might now follow the Avengers Endgame, it's nice to see how Loki would react to his death. It actually feels that this is a continuation of Avengers Endgame and not the first Avengers movie, even the timeline follows the latter.

4) Owen Wilson is so perfect for his role, he fits like a glue. The chemistry between him and Tom Hiddleston is much more believable compared to Sam and Bucky, at least in my opinion.

5) I feel intrigued moving forward in this series compared to the pilot TFATWS and WandaVision.

GOD of Mischeif is back y'all!
imptsir9 June 2021
Best pilot of all the MCU shows so far! Owen Wilson looks like he has been there all the time, brilliant work by him. With Tom Hiddelston's Loki there has never been a doubt!

I loved all those callbacks and how Variant Loki perceived them. Loki looks vulnerable for the very first time and which is what makes this episode so much more interesting. All in all, a brilliant episode to start with. MCU never disappoints, does it?

Marvel saved the best for last.
apurvadegreat9 June 2021
After not so entertaining WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki seems to exceed all expectations. The series begins with an awesome start and is not a single bit boring.

Tom Hiddleston has nailed his part as always. The first episode has laid down foundation for what can be an extremely fun season.

Unbelievable start to the series
francescaiscool9 June 2021
Best opening to any of the MCU series, I was hooked the whole way through. We get to see Loki's character develop in just a 50 minute episode. I cannot wait for the rest, I can tell it's going to be amazing the whole way through.

Close to perfection....
cyberalf-502879 June 2021
That was just a phenomenal surreal piece of Television with a great cast, great music and I genuinely got chills at some point. The only reason it is *close* to perfection was there was a tiny bit too much time spent looking at previous events from the MCU on the holo tv but apart from that it was great.

The tinder caught fast!
chris_reed-698429 June 2021
Brilliant first episode with a strong outline of what to expect. Story was told exceptionally and the visuals were stunning. I enjoyed Wandavision and Falcon and The Winter Soldier but Loki has gripped me straight away with much more ease than they did. Definitely give it a watch if you're sat on the fence.

Glorious Purpose
Prismark1010 June 2021
A low key opening episode. Some of it was inspired by Terry Gilliam.

There was certainly a touch of Brazil, The Fisher King and Time Bandits.

The big issue is how you make a television show of a Marvel anti hero.

Loki is certainly a god of mischief and some of his character development in the Marvel movies may have to be rewound.

There was a lot of references to past Marvel movies. There had to be a lot of setting up such as the TVA and its workings.

I expect more twists in later episodes but so far this was decent enough. It was not mind blowing in the way Wandavision was in its set up.

I did wonder why Owen Wilson was made to look a lot like John Slattery who played Howard Stark in the MCU.

The Best in the MCU Yet
sanadalsalt29 April 2023
The first episode of Loki is undoubtedly the best pilot of all the MCU shows so far. Owen Wilson seamlessly blends into the show, delivering a brilliant performance. And with Tom Hiddleston as Loki, there has never been a doubt about the acting prowess of the cast.

The episode is full of callbacks that are perceptively perceived by Variant Loki, making him appear vulnerable for the first time, which makes the episode even more fascinating. In short, it's a fantastic start to the series, and the MCU never disappoints.

After the not-so-entertaining WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki exceeds all expectations. The episode keeps you hooked from start to finish and never gets boring.

Tom Hiddleston is, as always, impeccable in his role, and the first episode sets a strong foundation for what promises to be an exciting season.

This opening is undoubtedly the best of any of the MCU series. In just 50 minutes, we witness the development of Loki's character, leaving us eagerly anticipating the rest of the series. It's sure to be amazing from start to finish.

Slow Start
s_rucska13 June 2021
I kept hoping it would get better, but...it did not. The ending did show potential though, so hopefully it will get better after a few episodes.

I personally felt it was giving off Mandalorian vibes? Sometimes I was confused which show I was watching....

Weak start
ben-gandolfo5314 June 2021
Had really high hopes that this would be a lot better than the other 2 series that Marvel released this year. But unfortunately it wasnt watch better at all imo. Nothing really happens in the first 30 mins. Not sure how people are giving it 10/10 but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Really hope it gets a lot better soon.

Men in Black vibes coming through strong
ha77y73ad979 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Within the 1st 10 minutes of the show im hooked! The TVA is going to play a major part in everything to come for the MCU leading to Spider-man 3 and Doctor Strange 2. Loki picks up right where Endgame left the 2012 version who hasnt been able to go through his transition from power hungry younger brother to fan favorite paying the ultimate sacrifice. Seeing his future and the pain that this brings him, as always Tom Hiddleston plays this perfectly.

The TVA style is also just perfectly balanced between an organization that has been around for a very long time i.e. Real 70s beige vibes going on. Even down to the tech looks pre internet but can read a persons aura! Honestly one of the best parts of the episode is the Men in Black style training video that everyone whos been to the ride in Florida has surely seen, explaining who the TVA are and why, at the moment, the MCU hasn't introduced a multiverse. The animations and CGI are innkeeping with the stylistic approach of all of these Marvel tv shows so far. The door ways the teams step through screams millions of dollars and a lot of time put into this.

After Lokis start of processing through the TVA we jump back in time to see WHOW! Owen Wilson on a call out back in the 1500s. The Devil bearing gifts line is not to be missed dare we start to fall into the same trap as the speculation of WandaVision?

Humor is fine through out this but making Loki and idiot just isnt, same with Thor in Ragnarok there were times where the comedy is laugh out loud but then there's times when they just make god like characters stupid! The playing with the time collar later in the episode this is genius allowing Loki to return to his mischievous nature.

The conversations are truly poetic in this series as if these were actually written well the scene of the interrogation again has all the elements to go down in MCU history. But they did miss a trick not mentioning that Colson was alive, would really bridge the gap of the old series to the new ones! On the flip side seeing these stories tie into actual history and the D. B Cooper mystery that has never been solved.

Overall this could well be one of the best marvel property let alone the best tv show, this story could well be the opposite of the Pariah from the crisis on Infinite earths instead of watching time go by he has to help restore the balance.

Strong start to a great premise
snoozejonc24 June 2021
After his escape with the tesseract, Loki is captured by the Time Variance Authority.

This is an intriguing start to the series with the introduction to a great concept and some strong character moments.

The story picks up immediately following the time travelling events of Endgame as we find out where Loki went with the tesseract. It works effectively to establish the setting and provides some heavy character exposition, before what presumably will be more plot focussed episodes.

One of the great strengths of the MCU is the world building achieved with each film and TV show. This is another example where we see a concept that expands the scope of the MCU beyond what has come before. Who would think something could generate interest beyond Thanos' threat to the entire universe? This idea, albeit not original, certainly takes the big picture another step further. It does it with a nice focus on the theme of fate versus free will.

Whilst expanding the MCU, Loki does it in a fairly absurd and retro way. As you would expect with Marvel, and particularly a show featuring the God of Mischief, the tone is humorous and nihilistic and there are plenty of moments where he either ridicules the entire premise of what happening or attempts to either trick or boast his way out of situations.

The visuals are some of the most striking in the MCU so far with art direction that not only brings to life some comic book visions of the TVA but also has clear inspirations from the likes of Bladerunner, Metropolis, Brazil and Jurassic Park.

Tom Hiddleston is excellent as ever, exhibiting all the traits that made Loki an entertaining character. Playing off his character superbly is Owen Wilson with his low-key comedic persona.
