Absolutely the Sweetest!!
fake_moviestar22 May 2020
Oh my heart! This is one of the sweetest, most romantic Korean Drama's I have seen. The leads have unbelievable chemistry! I have seen a lot of Kdramas at this point and more often than not, the couples feel somewhat stiff and awkward, but these two felt so real as a couple it hurt my heart. The dance scenes are incredible; I read that Hye-Sun trained for 7 (yes 7!) months in ballet for this show, and it really paid off. Accompanied by a wonderful soundtrack, L is the absolute cutest male lead as the charming and naive Angel Dan. But truly it was Hye-Sun's performance that deserves a shout out, she was absolutely incredible in this. This is a wonderful, super sweet and romantic story that is so worth a watch. However I did knock a star off because I had a few big questions that were never answered...

Beautiful

Please get your paper towels ready because this drama is a roller coaster of emotions. The lead roles were so devoted to each other in their relationship and it blew me away.i was sobbing for the most part and no I do not regret the 16 hours I spend watching the drama.

Universal providence

An angel is given the mission to help a blind ballerina who is angry with the world find love, the problems begin when he develops feelings for her. The two stars in this are truly excellent and there are many touching moments, also the ballet scenes are extremely well done. A great series with twists and turns that make you wonder if love and happiness will ever be achieved.

Prepare a serious emotional reserve for this heartbreaking show
ssra_2530 June 2020
I watched all 16 episodes in a row, in a single day, because I couldn't stop watching. I could barely sleep, eat or drink or think of anything else. Prepare a serious emotional reserve, though, because this story is absolutely heartbreaking. Seriously, it's really heartbreaking. It's drama hard-core level. You'll love it though. :)

Criminally Underrated!!
unrivaledraj15 September 2022
Okay this Kdrama is seriously underrated. Shin Hye Sun is absolutely brilliant in this show, I haven't seen any of her other work, but she nailed this character to the point. Her expressions are captivating, her voice modulation when she's angry to emotional to crying to happy to calling out Dan, is terrific.

Myung Soo or L is below average in first 9-10 episodes, he keeps making dumb stupid faces and nothing else, also felt like his character was not well written, but he picks it up a notch in the last 4-5 episodes and he's probably the reason the show wasn't top rated, replace him with someone like Kim soo hyun or Lee seung gi and this show would have topped the ratings.

Coming to the show, the OST is good, Pray is a lovely track, loved it, but they kinda overused it, although I won't complain much on that because I love the song. Other tracks were beautiful too. The ballet is done nicely, didn't feel like "not their cup of tea", and seemed to be done very professionally.

As a non korean, not all but most of the Korean dramas feels a little a stretched out unnecessarily, the 16 episodes season usually can be wrapped up in 10-12 episodes, and the 20 episodes season can be finished easily in 14-16 episodes, but they're stretched out mostly. This is one of the rare shows that never felt that it's being stretched out. Deserved 16 episodes.

And the last, the love story is beautiful, developed nicely, no unnecessary breakups and forced love triangles for both lead male- female characters. A lot of credit has to be given to Shin hye sun, she carried the show throughout.

A must watch show if you love Kdramas and love stories.

A winning performance from Hye-Sun Shin
wheatley-2023010 June 2023
Hye-Sun Shin is the main reason to watch this drama. She shines. She dazzles. She offers so much that you actually don't need any other reason.

When you start a drama about an angel you don't expect gritty realism. Instead you are ready and willing to surrender to a fantasy in anticipation of an entertainment reward for doing so. This series would have delivered that entertainment reward without Hye-Sun Shin. With her it delivers in spades.

I have seen Hye-Sun Shin before. She was fine. I cannot say why she is so much more than fine here. Perhaps the transition of her character from spoiled rich girl with a huge chip on her shoulder to someone with so much to give provides the bedrock for you to root for her. Somehow she was more beautiful than I had realised. More touching. More winning. More sympathetic. More everything.

Shin Hye Sun Is just chameleonic, such a great actress
hanalisss13 August 2023
Profoundly moving and beautifully crafted Korean drama that strikes a perfect balance between emotion, drama, heartbreak, and sweetness. This series takes viewers on an unforgettable journey filled with love, redemption, and the power of human connections.

The drama's portrayal of the main characters' emotional struggles is nothing short of captivating. The depth of their pain and the evolution of their emotions create a raw and authentic experience that resonates deeply with the audience.

This drama masterfully intertwines heartbreak and hope, crafting a narrative that elicits a rollercoaster of emotions. The bittersweet moments are perfectly complemented by heartwarming scenes that remind us of the beauty and resilience of the human spirit.

The chemistry between the lead actors is truly magical, infusing every interaction with a sense of longing and tenderness. Their journey from strangers to soulmates is portrayed with such sincerity that it's impossible not to be invested in their love story.

The drama's soundtrack, filled with soul-stirring melodies, enhances the emotional impact of the scenes, ensuring that every moment lingers in the heart of the viewer.

The series proves that storytelling at its finest can be emotionally charged, heartbreakingly beautiful, and incredibly sweet all at once. Its ability to evoke genuine tears of sadness and joy is a testament to its remarkable storytelling and exceptional performances. If you're searching for a drama that tugs at your heartstrings and leaves you with a sense of hope and inspiration, this series is an absolute must-watch.

Much better than I expected.
eclaridge21 May 2022
I was not expecting much from this series but I really enjoyed it. They say the lead actress is the best of her generation and after watching her in this and Mr Queen I can only think if one who approaches her level. The main lead was also very good as were the supporting cast.

A fantasy about an angel sent to earth with a mission to show a blind woman how to love. It sounds a bit soapy but was surprisingly suspenseful and emotional. You really were caught out by some plot twists. I have been watching kdrama since covid and this is certainly in the top 10, maybe the top 5 . It's subjective of course..what I like may not be to others tastes but in the genre of fantasy romance I would only rate My roommate is a gumiho above it. Excellent and the soundtrack is one if the best I have heard.

Good Enough
PennyReviews28 July 2019
Now here is a drama that got it right, L is an actual angel and this one proves it!

Fun aside, "Angel's Last Mission : Love" started like a fairy tale. The drama was filled with dancing and music and top notch aesthetics. The leading lady was great, as she managed to dance and to performe like a real ballarina. She had chemistry with her partner as well and that helped the love story a lot.

The universe with the angels and everything was well built as well. It was interesting and intriguing. Plus, the dramatic past stories were really good.

However, the drama got predictable and boring towards the ending. The family drama was not original, the love story was too cliche and the last twist just okay.

So, seven out of ten.

Quite magical
phd_travel30 July 2020
This series is in turns romantic funny and magical. It's a different series that is worth watching. The ballet Giselle is quite nicely integrated into the story. And the supporting cast has some real ballet dancers. More authentic than the movie "Black Swan". In fact Ni Na is played by a pretty good dancer Kim Bo Mi. The casting is good. Lead actress Shin Hye Sun is slim enough to be convincing and can dance. She is expressive and convincing even though she doesn't have the prettiest face. The angel is played by Kim Myung Soo who has an angelic looking face. The wings are well done. Some faults: There is a drag in the last third about becoming human. It is quite satisfying when the horrid relatives get their just desserts. The very ending feels a bit cut off. Some more of them together at the end would have been more complete.

Good plot, some discrepancies
ninchenbienchen11 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Angel Dan has dutifully helped animals finding their way to heaven. After one fateful night he is assigned one last task before being released to heaven himself: finding love for Lee Yeon Seo, a retired ballerina who became a bitter, lonely young woman after losing her parents young and then having to give up dancing because of an accident on stage that made her blind. ----- Even though the plot itself is more on the unique side, the general story was very predictable most of the times. There were only very few surprises along the way.

Also, I feel like the production of the show wasn't carried out thoughtfully. Unfortunately, there were lots of inconsistencies - some minor, some major. For example, the leads often leave their house let's say in the morning but only arrive at their destination at night, even though both places are supposed to be in the same city. Or the lead is supposed to pick up something and it takes him 24 hours although - again - the place he picks the item up at is in the same city. Towards the end there are even more relevant discrepancies like the female lead being stabbed but at first she doesn't bleed at all and then she bleeds on stage but no one seems to notice? Not even her dance partner who keeps touching her wound??

Something else I missed were likable characters. I loved both leads, the butler and Dan's senior angel (most of the time at least). The rest of the supporting cast I literally despised. But to me, the people that keep sharing the screen with the leads are very significant and I just couldn't stand the majority of them and unfortunately those were also the ones with the most screen time besides the leads. It made my blood boil. Yes, good dramas always need anti-heros but not a full supporting cast of it.

While it was always nice to see the happy moments between the lead couple, some of the last few episodes felt more like fillers because nothing significant happened. ----- Now onto the good things:

The acting of the whole cast was INCREDIBLE.

I was IN LOVE with the lead couple. They steal your heart in SECONDS and you can't do anything about it.

The SOUNDTRACK y'all.... I mean, yes, they used it a lot and specifically one or two songs kept being repeated but I DIDN'T CARE BECAUSE THEY WERE SO GOOD!!! They always fit the situation perfectly well. And I loved the songs so much they now received a special place on my playlist.

10/10 the best kdrama I've seen so far! (Spoilers)
ttonscypo12 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It caught my curiousity really bad cuz of its charisma. The drama involves ballet, which basically I've never heard before, looking forward into it making it more interesting because it shows how ballet works but at the same time the storyline flows and its just really mesmerizing. Hyesun and the orher dancer's performances are not joke, they did their best and I loved it!

I love how the storyline flows throughout the drama. And there are so many situations that surprises me a lot --when Dan is actually Yeon Seo's childhood friend, when Director Ji is an angel too--. Their love was very passionate that they are not acting anymore, that it actually happens in real life, and that made me overwhelmingly emotional.

Most of all, their chemistry is just, AMAZING! Myungsoo and Hyesun looks so good together that i wanted them to date in real life. Also their acting, the cinematography, and the OSTs! the songs of the drama are absolutely amazing ❤

Highly recommended drama for guys!

So many climax
lmerana3 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
There are so many parts in the kdrama that I thought that this is it, this is the climax and it is just in one episode. It kinda made the drama dragging that I just want to watch the end. I also don't like the tandem of the leads. Although they had lots of sweet moments, they didn't have much of the chemistry that I was expecting. The ending is also confusing and again there's so much point in the drama that I think it is close to end and needs to be intensified to give a good ending. They also have a very weak villain character. I also hated that the angel sunbae had to die and how was she able to dance without blood when she is already stabbed?

Is It a Wonderful Life?
orinocowomble17 July 2019
I really enjoyed the first 2/3 of this series. Strong echoes of "It's a Wonderful Life" with Angel Dan on his final mission to return to Paradise (ie earn his wings). All this time he's looked after animals not people, but he finds himself saving a wilful, beautiful blind ballerina who was supposed to die. There are some fine performances here on the part of the main actors, though the "ballerina" mostly moves her arms and lifts one leg; the real dancing is filmed far enough away she could be anybody--and probably is.

So far so good, but about halfway through the writers started adding lots of twists and turns, to the place that it started to take forever. All the intrigue and real action is packed into the final ten episodes or so, and The Deity (as He is called in the subtitles) seems to change its mind a lot. Archangel Hu is awfully clueless for a head of section! My question is, what kind of Archangel wouldn't recognise another angel the moment they made contact? I toughed it out to the end just to see how they resolved the whole tangled tale. The ending was okay...but somehow not satisfying. It was like they decided to throw in a bunch of possible resolutions and let the viewers take their pick. From "great" at episode 15, by episode 32 my reaction was "meh."

In one word amazing one
apranto8 June 2022
Most of the romantic Korean drama is too much cringe we all know. But for their romantic moment and acting no one can beat romantic kdrama i think. And this drama is another example of it.

Sit back with your tissue paper. Lead actress of this drama is just awesome, her acting was on next level (honestly all korean actress are too much good at their acting). Though it was emotional love story Between them, still it was a best one in my opinion. I have no word to say about Their chemistry. So if you are too much romantic drama lover just go for it.

But they should give some more time with happy ending. Still they wrote this story with happy ending was good enough. I wish they could give at least 5-10 minute with happy ending moment.

Quite A Bit of Heartache for Relatively Little Pay Off
leahcubed4 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
After Yeon-seo (Shin Hye-sun) is in an accident that leaves her blind, she has very little use for the world and everyone in it. Formerly a beautiful starring ballerina in the Fantasia Ballet Company, owned by her wealthy family, she now spends her days making it difficult for those around her. She is cynical, angry and so hostile few but her loyal secretary and butler can tolerate being around her for long. In stark contrast, Dan (Kim Myung-soo) is a trouble making angel who sees the good but is mischievous enough to cause trouble for his superiors. His last chance to return to heaven centers around finding love for Yeon-Seo whose great talent currently is driving everyone away. Who can see past the young woman's bitter and surly exterior to the heart of a woman worthy of love?

A lot of this reminded me of "The Taming of the Shrew" with some "The Gift of the Magi" sprinkled in. She was very difficult and not very nice but had many reasons to be angry with life. I really enjoyed getting to know her character and the reasons behind her behavior and why some were so loyal to her It was predictable in the sense that you knew it was going to be very sad at some point. I really did not know how things would end up and was very concerned that it would not be a happy ending. It did officially get to a happy moment but it really was only just a moment and we spent a lot of episodes that made you very sad and feel a bit down in general.Still I would recommend this it is a very good story I just wish they had spent more time with the happy parts and had a little less cynicism. At the end there were a lot of loose pieces on how aspects would be explained.

missed again KD
backnblack-0612319 June 2020
This had the making of a very good series but as it turned out was just average, the two leads were good together but for some reason the writers gave the 2nd male character more lines than the lead who was much better and hes supposed to be the lead, go figure. Dong-geon Lee cannot act and his role in the series was annoying i had to fast forward his parts just to watch this.

worth watching
elsamirre27 March 2021
Not the best KD I've seen. Some sort of uselessly complicated Romeo and Juliet where the main characters compete to sacrifice themselves first, or better.

I fast forwarded a lot, especially when it came to boring evil plots. Of course, there is a huge company to fight for, and vilains who will stop at nothing. Dejà vu.

A lot of cheese. Tons of it. With honey on top.

Still. I cried whenever I was meant to. I cared about the characters. Thumbs up for Archangel Hu, torn between his love for the Deity and his growing affection for his junior.

The ending felt like WTF? At first... But after many thoughts, it made sense. God having his way, showing both his might, and his mercifulness.

Overall, worth watching.

Definitely worth watching
sonia-9511127 February 2022
I'd watch this series just for Kim Myung-moo and Shin Hae Sun. Wow I loved them together. It's some screen magic. It's an engaging enough story, nothing earth shattering but the two leads hold it together enough to keep the attention to conclusion! I enjoyed the lovely chemistry between then.

I like this, I'm not going to lie, but....
chilligrrl17 April 2024
This is quite a good show, lots of fun, action, mystery, fantasy, plotting by evil relatives.... it has quite a lot going for it. The actors all fit the parts well and are rather nice to watch. The scenery and sets are beautiful. The plot is great.... (although I still can't figure out how someone with no ID, no experience and no background can get a job in Korea, but dramas always allow it!!).

My biggest issue, and it seems to be growing with plague proportions with kdramas, is the use of what I could pretty much call a Handicam to film. It shakes like no tomorrow. It is supposed to invoke emotion I guess, but all it does for me is invoke seasickness and reaching for the bucket. Episode 4 has it pretty much in every scene so far and I'm reaching for the anti nausea tablets.

A great show I'd like to finish, but probably can't and it makes me so mad.

Must Watch
surabhi-915662 March 2021
The storyline was unique but what's most amazing is the cast. You'll fall in love with the main leads and their chemistry. The way they both have expressed their emotions and portrayal of love by them will make you cry your eyes out, so don't forget to keep tissues with you. Not only the leads but the supporting cast is great too, both positive and negative roles are done by the cast in a way that you won't forget them any time soon after watching this series.
