This is a horror-poetic short film which blends the darkness of a tortured soul with the beauty of an ancient Mexican tradition.
In Mexico, the day of the dead is commemorated both the first and the second day of November. The first day is to pay tribute to the innocent saints (linked to children who lost their lives). The second day of November is dedicated to adults.
Family and friends prepare what is known as an offering. A set of the deceased's favorite food, sweets, and drinks. It is believed that these days, our dead will come to visit us and enjoy with us from The Other Side. It is not a gloomy date, on the contrary, Mexico takes it as a celebration and a moment of communion. That is why it is not so common to see horror stories that involve this iconic date but remembrance.
But for the same reason, it becomes interesting to tell a story that portrays a side we do not get to see, one where the encounter is not meant to be for a celebration.
Hungry is a visual story that shows us a unique point of view about this celebration and makes us think about the importance of not getting stuck in the past because sometimes it can be too late to change.
