You'll be scratching your head at the ending!
sfxprops22 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
WARNING! SPOILER!

Yes, it had a good message. Yes, the acting was fairly well done. Yes, the plot was good. Yes, it was tense and you didn't know what was going to happen. Yes, the production values were fairly decent. HOWEVER The problem he and his wife had was NEVER even touched upon. He kept making REALLY STUPID decisions. The film had some glaring plot holes, ESPECIALLY police procedures. As a few examples: He would have NEVER been allowed to keep his gun and badge. He would never have been allowed to visit the victims. The department would have been making sure that he didn't screw up the case. The victims would never have been allowed anywhere near him. And at the end, what in the world ever happened to the person who started the whole thing?! It was like a big meal in which , even though there was a lot of food, the cook left out some key ingredients! All in all, I feel that when you're done watching this, you're going to feel somewhat cheated at the fact that the ending was resolved so stupidly!

This movie kinda pissed me off. The acts that set this event in motion seem to have been glossed over to push a narrative. The cop did what he was trained to do. With the facts he had and what he seen only 1 outcome was possible. I hope in real life the missing piece was held accountable for setting everything in motion. I'm trying not to give any spoilers here it's worth a watch.

A close look
calmirio27 November 2020
When you train in those so call academies for 12 week and you call them police officers (in common sense societies they are train for a minim of 18 months to 3 years), when you need SWAT for a domestic dispute, when ....... your cities in 2020 looks like Fallujah and police looks like occupation force, then you have a problem. and I didn't even mention that instead of providing first aid the police officer was preoccupied to handcuff, Really? The problem is training, unions, insurances, local politicians and that is just the beginning, the so call defund the police is not the solution.

Good until the end
morgansjacksons27 July 2021
I found out this movie interesting until I notice that it's a hateful movie.

The white male is just punishing himself for something he didn't do by his fault.

That's a movie for all BLM supporters.

As a white men I just felt the racism aginst white people in this movie.

Warning: Spoilers
A police officer shoots a suspect in the chest and is still preoccupied with putting him in handcuffs.

Two FBI officers track down Will at Chase Miller's residence amd find the kid hooded and tied up. First thing they do...curse the kid for not knowing where his captor went!! No first aid. No ambulance. They didn't even untie him!!

And what's the purpose of the wife in this movie? Derailing the plot.

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!!!
Go_For_The_Jugular21 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Why would they release a film about a white cop that 'unnecessarily' kills a black man, not even a year after the Breanna Taylor and George Floyd incidents? To make it worse, the cop in the film pleads guilty...WTAF! Do they not watch the news?

Maybe I'm missing the point, but it's in real bad taste IMO.

It's like releasing a film a few months after 9/11, about a highjacked plane that crashes into an American building, killing hundreds...but the terrorists all hand themselves in and admit guilt in court!

You just wouldn't do it.

Realistic
ozsud24 January 2021
Powerful movie , realistic and retraces the reality police using sometimes unnecessary force and deadly action. The movie lacks better script , dialogue or something, I don't think it's the actors , could have been a great movie but still important to watch and glad I did.

This Movie butchers a very serious topic
passan-8067025 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
How does a cop live with himself after realizing he murdered an innocent person? How does the family lives through the loss of a loved one after a police officer, who should protect the innocent, murders them?

This is a very serious topic that needs a careful and respectful approach. This movie however fails so hard I have no words for it. This movie is trash.

I see what the director Michael Nell tried to do, but after only a few minutes you will realize, he is ether incompetent or he does not care. Not a single minute was invested into researching for this movie. At least nothing that would properly support the topics he tried to address.

Technically it is a very bad movie. Camerawork is very cheap with consistent camera shake. Basically, absolutely indistinguishable from any other factory produced movie.

The actors were not that bad except Brian Geraghty (THE LEAD ACTOR) who is exceptionally untalented. He has the same face through the entire movie. He cant act at all. The person he played did not have a character or a personality, so they shove a relation ship with Bethany Joy Lenz. This relationship is frustratingly distracting from the main story. Additionally, if you cut it out entirely from the movie, the story would be absolutely unaffected by it.

The mourning family was believable. I felt the pain and loss of Edwina Findley Dickerson.

Anyone remember the footage of the cop who shot the mentally ill person? Yea, the cop broke this day. I hoped to see something similar in this movie, but no. Nothing really happens. No emotions. Barely any regret. At some point he steals some papers from a layer to find out who called the cops on this day. It is very lame and unrealistic how he gets the phone number of the kid. Then he assaulted the kid. From my knowledge in law, his action was basically a "get out of jail" card. Even thought the kid should held accountable for calling the cops because of a hostage situation, the kid would go free because of the assault.

Luckily the ending was not a total wash and the cop did the right thing. He pleaded guilty in court.

I am not a cop, nor have I lost a person to a police officer, but I felt insulted by this movie and it's tone deaf approach. In a way I want to recommend this movie just to see how it fails technically and how it fails to represent a very heavy topic.

Another worst film! Full of boring conversation, and super annoying overuse scene! Avoid at all cost!
kwenchow16 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This film start with an unknown person calling 911, and two cops(Will, and Nika) arrive at the suspect's house scene! As turnout, this film is about Will need to clear his name of killing a colored man "Andre", by track down a prank caller "Chase"! Entire film full of boring conversation, and annoying overuse scene! Such as, overuse of the blackout scene, overuse of the smoking scene, overuse of the drinking scene, overuse of the flashbacks scene, and overuse of the playing video game scene! Make the film unwatchable! At the end, Will plead guilty at the court! That's it! Wasting time to watch!

A definite must watch film!
bestofsamashearnold20 November 2020
Just finished watching this film, "Blindfire" and I must say that I haven't watched a good quality film which delivers an important message in a while and this is absolutely one of them. Worth it!

From the cinematography, to the actors/actresses, the location, down to the music, everything just looks so fantastically done. A lot of thought and hardwork was reflected on how good the film is and it truly did not disappoint. There's no dull moment and it's a crime-thriller film so it will put you in the edge of your seat.

The film also bravely tackles a rather sensitive ongoing issue about racial discrimination. People can easily have a mental bias towards a person of color and its a very timely thing to discuss openly so that people won't just make rash decisions and judgment towards anybody. The film teaches us how to have a sense of accountability in each actions we commit and to know that it has a corresponding consequence. But most of all, it instills in us that there is hope that a person can change for the better in the end.

I will give this film a rating of 10 out of 10, a definite must-watch for someone who loves to watch a drama, crime-thriller film with a good message at its core.

Despite appearing to mean well I found this very hard to take seriously
jimbo-53-18651125 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
When officers Will Bishop and Nika Wilkins respond to a 911 call whereby a man has taken his wife hostage officer Bishop goes against police procedures and enters the house alone without waiting for back-up. As he prepares to enter the house he shoots the suspect in an act of self-defence. However, upon hearing the news many people believe that Bishop (a white police officer) shot the suspect because he was black rather than out of self-defence. As Bishop digs further into the nature of the 911 call he soon realises that there is more to it than initially meets the eye...

Allegedly inspired by actual events Blindfire is a well-meaning film and on a very basic level it does provide us with an insight into the consequences of failing to follow procedures and the severe repercussions that can result in what to some may seem a harmless prank. Despite these things though, I still found Blindfire to be a little bit ridiculous and rather hard to take seriously...

For a start, Bishop steals evidence and goes on a one man crusade to find the person responsible for making the phone call which effectively could end up ruining Bishop's career (or worse). This would be a little more understandable if his own colleagues refused to believe what he'd told them and/or refused to help him. However, they are trying to help him making his actions seem all the more baffling. In fact, as the film progresses it actually becomes more difficult to feel sympathy for him as Bishop (at least on one occasion) abuses his powers in order to obtain information. Like I say I understand his need to find the person responsible, but why go about it this way and why not confide in his colleague Wilkins and ask for her help? It just doesn't make sense. To be honest, Bishop's senseless actions had me confused and as I continued watching the film I hoped that his gung-ho unorthodox approach to finding the culprit would provide some answers, but alas there were no answers as the credits began to roll.

Looking at the positives then it's fair to say that Brian Geraghty does put in a good performance and I must say that I did find the film to be mildly engaging - although I did feel that the way everything was presented was a tad simplistic.

The thing that really sinks this film though is the ending; we don't learn anything of the fate of the boy who originally made the phone call (who was indirectly responsible for what happened to Andre). Then Bishop just pleads guilty before his trial without offering any kind of defence - this may have been a selfless act to try to save Andre's family going through the painful court process, but it's still a poor way to end the film given all the effort Bishop had put in to find the person responsible for making the phone call.

I was originally going to give this film 6 out of 10 but it lost a star because of the awful ending.

A film about Accountability from the Police
mike-968-93775822 November 2020
Blindfire is a film that starts a conversations about what accountability from law enforcement should look like in the future. A lot of very talented actors put together great performances to put an audience in the shoes of a cop who has killed an unarmed black man during a hostage call and is trying to understand how this happened. I hope audiences give the film a chance and watch it all the way through to understand the message and the films intention.

This movie was very well put together. It left you on the edge wondering how things were going to play out, but isn't what you would expect in the end. Great work by Mike Nell and crew!

This nail-biter thriller had me on the edge of my seat for practically the entire movie. The subject matter is very current and writer/director Mike Nell did a great job of presenting his story. A Must Watch Film That Is Very Timely
hbarish21 November 2020
This is a must watch film that is extremely timely and a great example of an independent film. Stellar cast performances with a twist and ending you might not suspect. A great look at a subject matter that is very sensitive at the moment but can be a great conversation starter. There is intrigue, crime and thriller aspects but the film also touches human emotion. I find this film to have a lot of integrity ... if you watch it until the end. Congrats to all involved in the making of this film, everyone should watch it.

This film is a conversation starter!!
hbarish-2318924 November 2020
As you can see from the comments already posted this film is very polarizing but I believe it's super important. It provides hope for change in our society. Forget about the fact there might be some plot points that may not work and look at the bigger picture! For a small indie film ... this is great. Besides good production value, and great acting this is a story that should evoke conversation about what is happening in our world today and hopefully evoke some empathy for others all around. Don't listen to the badgers and haters ... check this one out for yourselves. I was touched and thought it is a must see!!

Powerful message in these times of unrest
rdnell22 November 2020
This is a very strong indie film with an eye opening message. Drama/thriller keeps you on the edge of your seat uncertain of what turn things will take. Very solid cast, well performed to deliver the story. Impressive debut for writer/director Mike Nell. Hats off to all involved for delivering on this project in times and subject matter of great importance to our communities and country. This is a must see, don't miss it! BIG applause for producing this story!

What a movie
rajasekaran4328 May 2021
I don't know why it got such bad reviews. I loved this movie. Greatly figured out necessary circumstantial actions which may end up wrong. Worth watching. Ignore the adverse comments. There are many unanswered questions. What happened to the boys? Why FBI didn't intervene in the case?

Very good Indie-Film
MariaLovesWentworthPrison23 October 2021
After reading the very opposing reviews and ratings from 1/10 to 10/10 I needed to watch this movie, where the late Halyna Hutchins was the director of photography. I didn't know anything about the 2017 Wichita swatting and fatal shooting before I started this movie. I only found out about it after searching for it when I read that the movie was based on real events. When I started the movie, it had me from the first moment. I think it was very well acted and directed. It sure is no movie for people who need action from start to end plus tons of special effects. This movie is no such film, it is closer to reality and still so well entertaining, it's dramatic, it's gripping, and it's telling a real story. So it is a very important movie. I'll leave it to future audiences to judge wether the police officer is racisst or not. The movie leaves us this decision and I must say it is thought triggering and sure a good base to start discussions. Long story short: I really enjoyed watching it and I can only recommend it to those who look for good quality of the art of movies rather then for boom boom crash boom bang.
