- Escort girls are seen escorting an adult man through the film, wearing tight and revealing clothes.
- Human trafficking is a major theme of this film
- We have to say that the brothel and the places in india the two young boys go to is far from what is regularly seen in movies or in america. Nothing graphic. Nothing seen from close. All in the background and clearly no nudity.
- A young boy stands up naked and we can see his butt. His frontal region is seen but it is so dark in the room that it is hard to make out.
- Jamal and Salim are seen walking through a brothel. There is no nudity, but sexual acts are implied. A man tells the boys about how much a virgin girl is worth.
Violence & Gore

- A young boy is trapped in an outhouse and escapes by jumping through the toilet seat and into a pit of human excrement it's a very gross scene.
- A young boy has hot peppers rubbed on his genitals, and he runs and screams in pain.
- majority of the movie especially in the flashbacks is very intense and nerve racking.
- Jamal is seen being slapped and put under water as a form of torture. Jamal is then electrocuted. Jamal spits out blood after this.
- A large group of men chase and beat people with sticks. A woman is killed in the attack. A man is lit on fire.
- A man starts to beat Jamal.
- Jamal imagines tackling Salim off a building. But he just slugs him in the face instead.

- Overall there is a lot of intense, upsetting, sometimes graphic imagery depicting the realities of slum life, homelessness, organized crime, and poverty in India.
- A man is set on fire
- There is a scene of a child falling into human dung, this scene is disgusting.
- Jamal and Salim are seen falling off a moving train. This is intense.
- There are a few chase scenes and emotional scenes that could be considered intense.

Sex & Nudity
- It is implied that Salim wants to have sex with Latika. He uses force and she lets him have sex with her in order to save Jamal. This is not seen.

- A young boy gets hot liquid poured into his eye.
- A teenage boy shoots Maman in the head. This is not graphic.
- Salim shoots a man and then is shot by three or four other men. Minor blood.
