Unrealistic
scntyguy28 March 2020
The ending is very unrealistic! After getting divorced you just don't pick up with romance when you meet again!

Welcome back a blacker Love Is_
Billy D.-220 February 2020
It lacks polish of Love Is_ but basically the same story with roles reversed and less character development. I will say it is enjoyable viewing so far.

A great show to watch!
aapplewh22 February 2020
I LOVE!! This show. I think the characters portray a realistic view of the difficulties and insecurities in the lives and relationship of the main characters. As I watch many of the scenes they make my stomach get the sensation of that love flutter because I can feel the love growing between Evan and Gently. I think the cast and writers have done an excellent job of pulling the emotions out of the characters in each scene. It's a great show to watch if you want the feeling of falling in love.

This is a show for the Culture
elliottyoung18 March 2020
I'm seeing negative comments about this show, and it's disheartening because I can sense that it's probably from people who either don't know the culture that inspires the characters and their interaction with each other, or simply resent diverse representation on television with content that doesn't try hard to appeal to viewers who don't understand black expression. The illustration of black love in this show, and the class attached to it, is refreshing. To top it all off, the writing of Ava Duvernay adds to its quality. I say to everyone who hasn't seen it to give it a chance and THINK FOR YOURSELF. Close minded people shouldn't have so much power that their opinions keep others away from a show they might actually like. Give it a chance!

Season 1 was good Season 2 is garbage.
mskissty30 October 2022
First season was amazing.i loved it. The second is garbage. They pretend to be from New Orleans and as gorgeous as that man is he's awkward. He has no rhythm. How can you be from New Orleans and hasn't learned to dance even in your 49's? Terrible casting for the lead male role. Joy is always a pleasure to watch. I like the story line. I just can't get passed the male lead. I liked how they merged a little Queen Sugar into it. A show I loved but stopped watching 2 seasons ago. Hollywood always gives. Season 1 was great season 2 left me saying I'm already over this show. I will keep watching hoping for the male lead finally gets comfortable.

Ugh
shayeedahc26 March 2020
I was so excited to watch a black love story but this just did not live up to my expectations at all. The fast forwarding through the years leaves us to only wonder what happened in between. I find myself with more questions than answers.

Excellent show
ncamille-2696420 March 2020
This show explores the complexity of a relationship without the typical demeaning and devaluation of either the African-American couple, or the societies within which they interact. The drama is offered not only in the actors' actions, but mostly in their words... completely cerebral!!! Simply stated this show is an atypical representation of a typical African-American relationship, entwined in all the complexities that occur when two people come from different backgrounds. Though the actors are African-American, this show will be enjoyed by anyone, of any race, who has ever remotely felt the feeling of love. Excellent!!!

Cloying and creepy do not go far enough
colinrogers-5236319 February 2020
Utter rubbish this story is. It's just an excuse for a strong soundtrack running under a dreadfully smug and predictable story. It has no purpose and no meaning. Another nail in the OWN coffin. It's a vanity project and just seems to be indifferent to reality. Move it on and give it some flesh on the bones. Not just the music which earns the 3 rating.

Steamy ,Mesmerizing , and Captivating Besr New Show
leasiamarie-6741210 November 2022
I love, love this show. I am days away from 60, so I have made a real effort to not watch some of the romance orientated shows, realizing values and trends has changed .I love the casting ,Henry Simmons and Joy Bryant ,simply perfect selection. This show is mesmerizing, it has reignited the romance in me and reawakened my conviction in the beauty of enduring love. When they look at each other, the way they look at each other ,captures my heart and affirm for me my good fortune of having a beautiful black man that allowed me to enjoy the magic of a man's look and touch, being treated like precious fragile glass. After 40 years of marriage I am hugging my guy remembering that expressions of love over time make be enjoyed differently, but real and true love never fades. I salute you Ms. Dubernay, for this beautiful display of Black love, the resiliency sometimes needed, but the power and strength tgat comes with mutual commitment which often propels many to enjoy triumph over challenging circumstances.

Conscious Evolving Sizzling Love
medgabite23 February 2020
It gets better and better. Great show! With a steady, slow, churn, DuVernay presents the viewer with two people who find love in spite of being total opposites socially and economically. He is from an accomplished upper class, she is from the struggling lower class. Alano Miller and Xhosa Rocquemore are wonderful portraying magnetic black love in all of its beauty, awkwardness, conscious and unconscious struggle. So far, love unconditional emerges as the key to their union. I am awestruck with the onscreen presence of national treasure - Cicely Tyson The series is very intimate, thought provoking and refreshing. It seems to be geared to a mature and thinking audience. There are no divas with oversized eyelashes, very little profanity, no one night stands, no rap music, no guys or gals in prison.

This show is so creatively done and doesn't hold back with displaying ALL aspects of dating and marital life. The surface was just scratched with these 8 episodes and I can't wait to see what's to come. Well done, OWN!

AWESOME SHOW!!!
nstarr6911 April 2022
This is not a show for those who want their love stories done with a cookie cutter! It requires thought, and your own emotional investment! Just like REAL LOVE. I love the fact that the story is told without watering down our culture and experiences... in it's own way, it pays homage to those of us who respect and honor Love.

Love the roller-coaster ride of Love!
cnuseemedj28 March 2020
This is an invigorating look at expectations of love! It shows how hard giving of yourself when joining two people in love and matrimony. These actors really make me feel the happy moments, as well as the bad moment's in their relationship! I look forward anxiously for the next episode. #cherishtheday

Season 2: Epitome of Creative Excellence
lewatson-7881028 July 2023
Season 2 of Cherish the Day was the epitome of excellence in every aspect. The acting was superb, the selection of the casting was stellar. The directing and writing gave you such authenticity to the storyline. And the musical supervision was simply outstanding. I'm praying that the series continues with these characters. There's so much that can built with the main characters, along with the family and business storylines. I truly appreciate you showing the importance of Black family values and generational support of one another. This is an untold story but truly is reality for me and many others.
