Ahead of the Aam Aadmi Party’s (Aap) “suspended parliamentarian” Raghav Chadha and actress Parineeti Chopra’s wedding in Udaipur, the picture of the couple has gone viral, while they attended the ardaas ceremony and kirtan in a Gurdwara.
The couple will leave for Udaipur for their wedding at a luxury hotel on September 23 and 24. Yesterday, the paath was also held at Chadha’s residence in Pandara Road, here. His MP’s residence saw Punjab Police personnel keeping a hawk’s eye on the tastefully manicured entrance, keeping photographers on the other side of the busy road.
Now, on Wednesday, the pictures of the couple went viral on social media, wherein we can see Raghav wearing a pastel pink coloured kurta-pajama and nehru jacket, while Parineeti wore a powder pink coloured sharara set. Both can be seen sitting in a Gurdwara, and praying. They are accompanied by their family members.

Xavier Giannoli is one of those rare French directors who has a stronger relationship with the Venice Film Festival than Cannes back home.
He has competed for Venice’s Golden Lion three times in the last decade with Superstar (2012), Marguerite (2015) and the sumptuous Honoré de Balzac adaptation Lost Illusions (2021).
The filmmaker is back for a fourth time this year playing Out of Competition with his first-ever drama series, the international thriller Of Money And Blood. All 12 episodes will world premiere in a marathon screening on Thursday, with further seances at the back end of the festival.
Liberally adapted from the eponymous book by investigative journalist Fabrice Arfi, the series delves into a real-life, carbon credit tax scam, which swindled the French state of at least $1.7 billion, in an operation that came to be known as the “fraud of the century” when it came to trial in 2018.

Sam Smith + + Calvin Harris on a track always leads to pure magic. On Friday, Harris and Smith released the drag race-themed video for their newest collaboration, “Desire.”
The video follows Smith (with a scar on their nose) speeding through an empty parking lot alongside another racer. The video splices clips of the high-speed races with videos of the performer singing along to the lyrics, and appearances from the UK DJ himself.
“You are my desire, oh/And just the thought of you is keeping me awake,” they sing on the electro-pop single.

Pamela Blair, who originated the role of the surgically enhanced Valerie Clark in the Broadway smash A Chorus Line, died Sunday at her home in Phoenix, Arizona, following a lengthy illness. She was 73.
Her death was reported by friends on social media, including her A Chorus Line co-star Baayork Lee. “I am very sad to say my Sagittarian sister Pam Blair has gone to play with her [A Chorus Line] colleagues among the clouds,” wrote Lee in a Facebook post. Sharing a Dec. 5 birthday, the two actors “always wrote to one another no matter where we were on that day,” Lee said, recalling how Blair ” brought the house down every night” with the showstopping performance of “Dance: Ten, Looks: Three.”
“You are free now Pammie so dance, dance, dance among the stars,” Lee wrote.

I have some great news if you’re a Hulu subscriber and feel you’re missing out on Marvel’s Secret Invasion. The first three episodes of the limited series, “Resurrection,” “Promises,” and “Betrayed,” are now streaming on Hulu through Thursday, August 17. Marvel’s alien infiltration thriller is sprinting toward its Episode 6 finale next Wednesday, July 26, bringing the conflict between the Skrulls and humans to a new inflection point.
While Hulu often streams Disney+ shows after a varying window of time, Secret Invasion’s debut on the service marks the first time a Disney+ original series is migrating to the platform. The process of bringing Secret Invasion to Hulu comes ahead of the service integrating into Disney+ as part of a “one-app” initiative. The two streamers could merge as soon as the end of this year.
The Skrulls are an alien race who can perfectly simulate any human being at will.

Three episodes of Marvel’s “Secret Invasion” will stream on Hulu ahead of the finale of the Disney+ series. The episodes “Resurrection,” “Promises” and “Betrayed” are set to stream from Friday, July 21, through Aug. 17.
The move marks the first time a Marvel series for Disney+ gets the Hulu treatment. The sibling streamer previously featured the “Star Wars” series “Andor” for two weeks in the fall following its strong performance on Disney+.
The show, which is set in the MCU’s present day, follows Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury as he learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls.
Fury is joined by allies including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.

Bulgarian crime story “Blaga’s Lessons” by Stephan Komandarev scored the top prize and $25,000 at the 57th Karlovy Vary Film Festival on Saturday, capping a week of celebrating art film, stars and bold global work.
Calling his film a tribute to his parents’ generation, many of whom have become victims of the rough transition to capitalism, Komandarev accepted his Crystal Globe from actor Robin Wright and fest president Jiri Bartoska.
Wright, on winning the fest president’s prize moments earlier, said festgoers in the Czech spa town have shown a love for experiencing cinemas onscreen, urging them to keep up that passion as streaming platforms erode cinema audiences that have still not fully rebounded from pandemic days. “I thank all of you for supporting cinema. Let’s bring it back – Covid put a bit of downer on that.”

Opportunities for film and TV series production in the Czech Republic and broader Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the competition between Netflix and other sector players, were in the spotlight on the first day of the Eastern Promises Industry Days program of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival on Sunday.
“Czechs love local content,” Lukasz Kluskiewicz, Netflix’s director of film licensing and co-productions for the region, told a panel about the current opportunities for film and series development in Central Europe on Sunday. “We can see growing relevance of local content, and we can see growing demand for local content.” That is why the development of and investment in such content is “crucial” for Netflix, he added.
The creation of local content is reflected in his business of licensing movies. “Since 2019, we have acquired 260 films, licensed,” said Kluskiewicz in emphasizing the streamer’s commitment to showcasing homegrown fare.

In the second episode of Marvel’s Secret Invasion, “Promises”, we take a trip down memory lane to the 1990s, where a painstakingly de-aged Nick Fury (Samuel L. We know Nick isn’t perfect and how manipulative he can be, but it seems like this series really wants to expose more of what he’s been capable of over the years to get the job done.
We meet a younger version of Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir), and see that he is beginning to form a connection with Talos’ daughter, G’iah (Emilia Clarke). Unlike G’iah, Gravik is an orphan, and Nick initially pushes back on recruiting a child soldier to his cause, but it doesn’t take much to convince him. He promises the gathered...

Sam Smith is no stranger to performing in front of thousands – tens of thousands, even. Still, one might imagine it’s a task that’s infinitely more daunting for someone wearing an outfit of nipple clamps, leather briefs, and thigh-high platform boots. Yet as the 30-year-old stomps across the O2 Arena stage, cherubic cheeks rosy as they grin, there’s no hint of fear. Instead, there’s a playful glint in their eyes and a defiant expression of pride on their face. “Did I say something wrong? Oops, I didn’t know I couldn’t talk about sex,” they tease in a cover of Madonna’s 1995 self-expression anthem “Human Nature”. Smith knows that people will talk – and from the looks of things, that’s exactly the point.
Born in London, Smith was raised in the Cambridgeshire village of Great Chishill, where they performed in youth choirs and musical theatre groups.

Can we take a moment to remember March 2020? The month when the Covid-19 pandemic began uprooting life in the United States as we knew it. When people grew sick and death tolls rose. When businesses shut down, education systems were transformed, and nearly every sport was halted. In those early days, there were so many unknowns about the infectious disease itself. "I definitely remember feeling a lot of fear," José Olivarez recalls. "And for a while, that fear stopped me from writing because there were doubts and questions in my head. Burt Bacharach, the singularly gifted and popular composer and Oscar winner who delighted millions with the quirky arrangements and unforgettable melodies of Walk on By, Do You Know the Way to San Jose and dozens of other hits, has died at 94.
Bacharach died Wednesday at home in Los Angeles of natural causes, publicist Tina Brausam said Thursday.
Over the past 70 years, only Lennon-McCartney, Carole King and a handful of others rivalled his genius for instantly catchy songs that remained performed, played and hummed long after they were written. He had a run of top 10 hits from the 1950s into the 21st century, and his music was heard everywhere from movie soundtracks and radios to home stereo systems and iPods, whether Alfie and I Say a Little Prayer or I’ll Never Fall in Love Again and This Guy’s in Love with You.

Directed by Lisa Peterson, Good Night, Oscar will play a 20-week engagement at the Belasco Theatre starting April 7, 2023. Opening night is set for April 24. The play comes to Broadway after a premiere at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre.

David Cronenberg's 2007 crime drama "Eastern Promises" offers several memorable scenes — the one that often comes up in conversation is that bath house fight to the death featuring Mortensen's Nikolai as vulnerable as a man can be (and he fared a lot better than most of us would in the same situation). But another sequence leans just as far into the Canadian director's obsession with the language and evolution of the body.
Nikolai, a "fixer" for the London arm of the Russian mafia, is rising up in the ranks. Before he can go further, he must be evaluated; such assessments are done with the prospect presenting his body to high-ranking members so they can read the resume marked upon it. The tattoos etched into his skin say, for starters, that Nikolai had served time in a Siberian prison, and that he was formerly a thief — it's written all over him.

In the Season 2 trailer for “Only Murders in the Building,” which Hulu released Tuesday, the podcasting trio who are all now persons of interest in the murder of Arconia Board President Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell), find that a masked individual has been planting evidence in their apartments. And is he also following Mabel (Gomez)?
The plot thickens as they size up suspects, including Bunny’s imperious mother (Shirley MacLaine). “Do you think that woman stabbed someone eight times?” Mabel asks while they watch the 80-something character struggle to slice cheese, and Oliver (Short) replies, “We’ll put a pin in her for now.”
We also see a glimpse of last season’s villain Jan (Amy Ryan) in jail, as someone — we’re guessing her former lover Charles (Martin) — drops by for a visit. Podcast queen Cinda Canning (Tina Fey), also makes a brief appearance. .tpd-featured-video.youtube{position:relative;overflow:hidden;width:100;padding-top:56.25}.tpd-featured-video.

A film about politics with a title like “Promises” all but comes with a get-out clause for failing to deliver on early hopes. And so it is with French director Thomas Kruithof’s lackluster second feature, which tries to pass gesturing vaguely at social ideas off as storytelling. This is all the more disappointing as early scenes suggest a sober, grown-up drama about migrant tenants at a neglected Parisian housing project run by exploitative landlords (referred to as “slumlords”) and Mayor Clemence (none other than Isabelle Huppert), who wants to help the tenants to secure a 63 million subsidy before she retires after two terms and 12 years in the job.

In Promises, ambition poisons the scrappy, political atmosphere of a Parisian banlieue. Opening the Venice Film Festival’s Horizons sidebar, this concise and stirring drama manages to dissect a host of philosophical questions about integrity and public office without losing sight of the quieter, more specific constituent stories that make answering them urgent.
Clémence (Isabelle Huppert) is the enterprising mayor of a town chronically plagued by crisis, from high unemployment and poor social services to exploitative slumlords. At the top of her long list, however, is Les Bernardins, a large housing complex in desperate need of renovations. At the start of ...

Pierfrancesco Favino and Kelly Reilly lead the cast of this film, which the French director and writer has adapted from her own international bestseller. Following on from 2017’s Holy Lands, which was shot between Israel and Belgium and starred Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Efrat Dor and James Caan in its cast, Amanda Sthers is stepping behind the camera once again to film Promises, a work based upon the French director and writer’s international bestseller of the same name, which was published by Grasset in 2015. Shooting on English-language work Promises has been underway in Rome for a few days now, with the set scheduled to move on to the Lazio coast and to London over the next seven weeks. Leading the cast is Italy’s Pierfrancesco Favino (honoured with an award at the most recent Venice Film Festival for his part in Padrenostro) alongside Brit Kelly Reilly (seen in this year’s Eight.
French multi-hyphenate Amanda Sthers (“Holy Lands”) has recruited the U.K.’s Kelly Reilly, Italy’s Pierfrancesco Favino and France’s Jean Reno for English-language romantic drama “Promises,” set in Italy and London, which started shooting in Rome on Monday.
Based on Sthers’ novel by the same title, “Promises” turns on an unfulfilled love affair between Alexander, played by Favino — who won best actor at Venice last year for his role in Italian drama “Padrenostro” — and Laura, played by Reilly.
Commenting on her casting choices, Sthers in a statement noted that she grew up watching movies from around the globe and therefore “allowed myself to choose talent over everything else, and wanted the global sentiment of the film reflected in casting.”
“Together, Favino and Reilly look like a quintessential cinematic couple bringing a sense of timelessness to our story,” Sthers added.
