Global Road Entertainment has joined the Miss America Organization and Tall Pony Productions as a producer of The 2019 Miss America Competition, set to air in September on ABC.
Global Road’s head of Unscripted & Alternative Television Phil Gurin will executive produce the show “assisting with the creative development and execution of a modern show relevant to a global audience,” producers say.
The addition of Global Road comes on the heels of Mao announcing it was eliminating the swimsuit competition, tweaking the evening gown competition and noting it would no longer call itself a “pageant.”
“It is such an honor to be part of the team launching Miss America 2.0 this September,” said Gurin. “As we reimagine this storied franchise, it’s exciting to offer a new and empowering platform for these strong, female leaders to shine.”

Since saying “Bye, Bye, Bye” in 2002, Justin Timberlake, Jc Chasez, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass and Chris Kirkpatrick have each built careers for themselves outside of ‘Nsync — the blockbuster boyband that brought them worldwide fame in the ’90s.
Though there aren’t plans for the group to get back together and make music any time soon, they’re still good friends — reuniting most recently in August for Chasez’s 40th birthday bash.
“The guys spent the entire night together,” a source told People at the time. “They all sat in a group and just reunited, relived and had such a ball.

Viewers flocked in droves to CBS' TV series adaptation of Stephen King's novel "Under the Dome" on Sunday night.
The premiere episode pulled in a 3.2 rating/9 share and a whopping 13.1 million total viewers for the network. That makes it the most watched summer debut for a series since 2007’s "The Singing Bee", and CBS’ most watched summer debut since 2000's "Big Brother".
It's also the best opening-night demo score for any drama series since the premiere of "Revolution" last fall on NBC.
It's especially impressive after various other network Summer-launched series like ABC's "Motive" and "Mistresses" along with USA's "Graceland" fizzled on launch.

A welcome surprise during broadcast’s usually dry summer months: CBS’ Under the Dome just debuted to a whopping 13.1 million viewers and 3.2 rating among adults 18-49 last night.
That’s the most-watched summer debut on any network since NBC’s The Singing Bee in 2007. It’s also very competitive with last season’s crop of dramas, matching Fox’s The Following as the second-highest new drama debut (NBC’s Revolution was #1).
Under the Dome is based on the Stephen King novel and was originally developed for CBS’ corporate cousin Showtime. The ratings make you wonder: Should CBS have aired Dome during the regular season?...

The latest episode of Glee made me realize something about myself: I can’t let go of certain things. And by things, I mean my hatred of everything ‘N Sync-related.
As a child of the ’90′s (literally, I was born in 1990), I felt forced, at a very young age, to pick a side: Backstreet Boys or ‘N Sync. I immediately gravitated toward the pitch-perfect harmonies of Bsb as opposed to the Justin Timberlake-jc Chasez duets that featured three other dancing guys. It might seem harsh, but any child of the ’90′s knows that this rivalry was real and cutthroat.

Everyone knows Joey Fatone is a multi-talented dude. From holding down one fifth of the legendary boy band 'N Sync to starring in "Little Shop of Horrors" on Broadway ... from hosting red carpets and shows like "The Singing Bee" to nearly dancing away with the mirror ball trophy on "Dancing With the Stars" ... as far as performing goes, this guy can do it all. ABC Family is ready to get into the reality-show game. On Wednesday (Feb. 13), network president Michael Riley announced the pick-up of two new reality series, "Dancing Fools" and "The Vineyard." Both series will go into production this spring and will air during the summer of 2013.
"Dancing Fools," hosted by Melissa Peterman ("Baby Daddy," "Bet on Your Baby"), is a half-hour, unscripted comedy. ABC Family didn't announce any other details, but we can guess that this probably involves a dance competition of some sort.
Phil Gurin ("The Singing Bee," "Oh Sit") created and will executive-produce the show.
"The Vineyard" is described as a "dramatic coming-of-age docu-soap." The program will follow a group of 20-somethings working on Martha's Vineyard for the summer. Mischief and romance are expected when the group shares a house and the youths work and play together. It might be something like "Jersey Shore" in this way, only colder and less orange.

ABC Family has ordered two reality series: Dancing Fools, which will be hosted by Melissa Peterman, star of the network’s hit comedy series Baby Daddy, and docu-soap The Vineyard (working title). Production on both series will begin this spring. ABC Family’s most recent unscripted effort, series Beverly Hills Nannies, aired last summer. It did not go to a second season. Dancing Fools is a half-hour unscripted comedy created and executive produced by Phil Gurin (The Singing Bee, Oh Sit) and produced by the Gurin Co. ABC Family is keeping details about the premise under wraps, but judging by Gurin’s track record of turning karaoke and musical chairs into reality series, this may again be a take on a party game. Sometimes I get the nagging, puzzling feeling that fourth place network NBC (yes, I know that they moved up ratings-wise to third, but they’ll always be fourth place to me for renewing Smash and canning Awake) is actually trying to actively say to America “hey, listen, we’re about three seconds away from becoming The Friends Rerun Network, please get all of your stupid/gay/lifeless pals to watch our programming!” and here is further proof: the Peacock is launching a brand new singing competition, you know, just in case The Voice, The Sing-Off, The Singing Bee, Duets, American Idol, The X Factor, America’s Got Talent, and Making The Band reruns just aren’t doing it for you. It’ll be called The Winner Is, and will have singers debate taking prizes and jumping ship from the competition before each viewer-voted round Deal or No Deal-style, which...

Carson Daly had his doubts about The Voice. Before he watched an episode of the original Dutch show that his program is based upon, the late-night host wasn’t sure he was up for hosting a singing competition. “God bless The Singing Bee, America’s Got Talent, and all the other shows out there, I just don’t think those types of shows are really what I want to do,” he recalls thinking during his first meeting with NBC. But it turns out, it was exactly what he wanted to do.

Melissa Peterman is happy about her new sitcom, if only because it lets her role-reverse with Reba McEntire.
As Barbra Jean on the long-running WB and CW sitcom "Reba," Peterman played the wife of McEntire's ex-husband. It'll be the other way around on "Working Class," a Country Music Television show that premieres Friday, Jan. 28. In the last of the first season's 12 episodes, country icon McEntire guest stars as the current spouse of single-mom Peterman's ex.
