Push/Pull (2003), a short film once known as 9:04 pm, is a "sequel" of sorts to this feature film. It tells the story of two 9:04 AM characters, many years in the future. 3 Sisters (2005) is a prequel with the 3 sisters of 9:04 AM, Amanda, Christie and Billie. However, the actress playing Christie in 3 Sisters plays a Goth in 9:04 AM.
9:04 AM was originally conceived in 1995 and the first draft was written in 1997. However, director Heath McKnight put the script away and focused on the feature Skye Falling (2001)(V) and several shorts, before pulling the script out in 2003 to begin work on it.
It's no coincidence that both 9:04 AM (2007) and Skye Falling (2001) share some traits, including sequences in and around the 4th of July; and main characters who love comic books (Carson in Skye Falling, Justin in 9:04 AM). Producer/Director Heath McKnight has stated that 9:04 AM is the last chapter in an unofficial trilogy that began with Skye Falling and carried into the short Conversations... (1997). Each film represents a specific part of how some relationships work, in order: the end of a relationship (Skye Falling), recovery (Conversations...) and new love (9:04 AM). Other than each movie takes place in Wellington, Florida, none of the characters are ever seen in the other films. Hence the unofficial capacity of the trilogy, dubbed "Lost and Found."
WILHELM SCREAM used twice: first while Justin (Mike W. Leavitt), Suzy (Laura Arias), and Phil (Brock Harris Hill) are playing video games, then in the final comic book shop scene with Billie (Sarah Elizabeth Kenny) and Mark Lang (Conor Timmis).
The voice of the baseball announcer on the TV as Dan and George watch, is co-writer Grant A. Balfour.
