This episode is loosely based on the murder of Girly Chew, a woman in New Mexico, by her estranged husband Diazen Hossencoft and his girlfriend Linda Hennning. Like "Preston" and "Shannon" they were both members of a UFO club, and Hossencoft, like "Preston," conned lonely, vulnerable women with "cancer cures" and "anti-aging" shots. Both were sentenced to life in prison in separate trials.
Nick refers to a pig farmer from Canada who was accused of murder. He was referring to the real case of Robert Pickton, a farmer from Canada who fed women to his pigs. Pickton was convicted of the second-degree murder of six women and charged with murdering 20 more. He was sentenced to life in prison in 2007.
The episode title is an exclamation often used by the comic-strip character Little Orphan Annie.
When Sara and Grissom are next to each other in bed supposedly watching the movie Godzilla (1954) on TV they are actually watching a scene from the movie Gorgo (1961).
When Nick and Sara are talking about a real life case of humans being fed to pigs, Sara quips that she's glad to be a vegetarian. Fox, who plays Sara, is in fact a vegetarian.
