Romantic comedy and then some...

When I sat down to watch the 2007 Thai romantic comedy "Yang Ngai Gaw Rak" (aka "Seven Days to Leave My Wife"), it was without ever having heard about the movie. But given my love and admiration for the Asian cinema, of course I opted to watch this movie.

Director Torpong Tunkamhang delivered an entertaining movie. Sure, it was somewhat generic in terms of being a romantic comedy, but it never luckily slipped into the corny and sappy formula that many romantic comedies tend to follow. And that was a good thing that director Torpong Tunkamhang didn't venture there with this particular movie.

The storyline is enjoyable and does prove entertaining and funny, though the topic of adultery and having a mistress while being married, is sort of somewhat of walking on treacherous ice. And as such, then I think that "Yang Ngai Gaw Rak" is not a movie that will easily find a footing with everyone in the audience. I found the storyline to be nicely written and proved watchable.

The acting performances in "Yang Ngai Gaw Rak" were good. Needless to say that I wasn't familiar with the actors and actresses on the cast list, as I am not all that well-traversed in the Thai cinema. But they had a good cast ensemble with nicely talented performers.

I enjoyed "Yang Ngai Gaw Rak", but it is hardly a movie that I will return to watch a second time.

My rating of "Yang Ngai Gaw Rak" lands on a six out of ten stars.
