Strange main story but otherwise goog
mitchrmp17 July 2016
The main story in this episode is about a young woman who is murdered. It's a bit odd since this person has an aging disease that also leaves her in a child-like state. The solving of this crime, as well as Brennan's tolerance of the murderer is very odd and disheartening.

This also covers the wedding of Jack and Angela. Both Booth and Brennan are asked to be the bride's maid/best man. There's a comical conversation as Booth and Brennan are in his car regarding his acceptance of the position. The wedding is interesting and there's a big twist at the end. My favorite part is the very, very end of the episode as Booth and Brennan face the minister themselves.

There's another sub-plot involving Brennan's father. Booth has a lot of conflict arresting Max since Brennan is his...well, neither of them know what he is...and he doesn't want to hurt Brennan. There's a touching scene at the wedding when Booth tells her what happened.

Interestingly, Booth was beaten pretty badly in a recent episode but showed no bruising. After his fight with max, Booth is sporting bruising on his face...

Great scenes among many of our favorite characters. I always love seeing Angela's father!!!

Off They Go, Into the Wild Blue Yonder
Hitchcoc22 January 2023
The main case was a fascinating one. A girl with an aging disease is found dead in a sort of sewer. The mother has AIDs and realizes that her severely disabled daughter has a horrible life ahead of her if she lives. Of course, she is a murderer, and there is nothing that can be done about that. There are three significant subplots. There is the wedding, which has a bizarre conclusion. There is Zack's impending trip to Iraq. And, finally, Javert (Boone) goes after Jean Valjean (Brennan's father). At times it is pretty funny. At times it is just plain silly. It is, however, a memorable ending and it will be interesting to see what transpires at the beginning of Season 3.

I love you!

Warning: Spoilers
Hi bonesbooth, Hart and Kathy really do a number with the fans in this episode. Of course we get the normal playful banter between Bone and Booth, but we also get the "I love you" from Bones to Booth when she reads the stone, to Booth. Oh Hart you naughty man teasing the fans like that. Kathy Reichs with alll her science knowledge gives us a twisted plot where we start off hating the mother, but soon come to understand but not agree with what she has done. Hart redeems himself by giving the viewers a wedding but sadly it's not the one we want. I've given this episode a 9 due to it's difficult subject matter.

Hey Bones Booth Pod!!

Welcome back Eric Stonestreet playing the same officer that showed them the boneless bride in the river. Yyaayy Caroline and Max are back they bring so much to episodes. Awww the moment Angela asked Bones to be her maid of honor was so sweet especially after the disaster between Hodgins and Zack. Haha Cam I'm with you atleast they asked you first. I'd be terrified too Hodgins her father is no joke you could end up in the desert someday. Angela would kill them if she knew Hodgins asked for her hand in marriage. The whole scene of Booth trying to arrest Max was hilarious. So happy for Bones sake that her dad didn't run again. That video from Bones mom was beautiful and heartbreaking. The wedding that wasn't was crazy poor Hodgins he's being put through the ringer to marry this girl. The looks on Booth and Bones faces at the alter priceless.

Warning: Spoilers
I won't dwell on the murder long as I find it upsetting. A small female with an aging disease is killed by her own mother out of a belief that after the mother's imminent death, the daughter won't be adequately cared for. The mother's illness is no longer a death sentence due to the development of new medications. We're made to feel bad for the mom and that doesn't sit well with me.

Brennan's dad, Max returns, only to be immediately arrested by Booth. Caroline Julian explains that Max is not Max, instead he has an iron-clad identity as an electrician from Coos Bay, Oregon. After a bloody napkin in evidence from an old bank robbery proves Max is Max, Booth goes to arrest Max again. Max won't go quietly and an hilarious fistfight takes place.

Zach is being asked by the government to go to Iraq and identify bodies.

Billy Gibbons, of ZZ Top, returns as Angela's father, he is easily my favorite recurring guest on this show. "If Angie finds out that a man, you, asked another man, me, for her hand or any other of her fine parts, horrible complications will ensue."

Brennan receives a VHS tape of her mother, recorded after her parents disappear. This obviously is upsetting to Brennan.

Angela and Hodgins' wedding: take one. Lovely harp music, a hooded wedding dress, the wrong couple hugging at the alter, an interruption by the State Department, Angela finding out that jumping over a broomstick in Fiji with a guy years ago means she's already married, a runaway bride & groom, Boones standing in front of the minister.

Warning: Spoilers
I had to write a review about Bones' mom's tape because bones was 15 when her mom left so if the tape was made 1 year later than Bones would know if it was her mom or not lol Also it makes sense to me that she was talking about Bones' dad because he wasn't there to talk for himself or else he'd be on the tape. And I'm sure Christine loved him so much, she didn't want Bones to hate him. I'm not sure if Christine knew she was dying at this point or not, but she definitely knew death was a possibility, so talking about Max makes sense because he's the one who might be alive longer and be able to reach out to Bones. Anyway, so just was yelling at my phone listening to the podcast so I had to write a review lol

No matter if I do disagree with Andrew and Aqeel on this point, I love your podcast lol.

It was good...up until they decided to be horrible.

Warning: Spoilers
I will jump right into the spoilers, as my review is mostly about the end of the show. Angela and Hodgins' almost-wedding was cute. If the case had been an actual case, and not one that interpreted murder as a "mercy killing out of love," I would have loved this episode! But it wasn't. The case is about a disabled person being murdered by their mother. The reason given was that the mother was dying and was afraid of what would happen to her daughter. She feared that no one would take care of her daughter. This is a very real fear, but one that obviously does not warrant murder. Disabled children are often treated horribly in the foster care system, not adopted, and either thrown out on the streets or institutionalized when they grow up. (Though some states prefer to imprison them instead, having shut down their institutions due to the heavy abuses committed there.) Even if they are adopted, they're 5 times more likely to suffer abuse or have crimes committed against them. Did the show treat this as a legitimate fear and acknowledge some of these things? Yes. Did the show still condone murder? Yes. After the murder is proved and the mother is in jail, Brennan goes to her and says, "What you did was wrong, but you did it out of love!" Right before this scene, Brennan had realized that she needed to forgive her parents for abandoning her. The implication is that because in both cases the parents loved the daughter, it was worthy of forgiveness. That it was excusable. That murdering your daughter because you thought their death was better than any chance at life- a chance you refused to give them- was excusable. So many disabled children are abused and murdered by their parents because they're "too difficult to handle" or "too demanding" or what have you. (Some even think their children are possessed or that they're trials from god.) To portray the message that this is okay? That these parents are anything more than despicable human beings? Not okay by any stretch of the imagination.
