Once upon a blog, the course of true love didn't run smoothly but did end on a happy note!

Samantha (Sarah Thompson) works as a plant caretaker in the City of Angels. However, her real career aspiration is to work as a copywriter for an ad agency, like the one she visits frequently as part of her present job. One main obstacle in her pursuit of the ad job is her dread of public speaking. To better channel her shyness and fears, Samantha starts a blog called "Dear Me", an online journal. As bad luck would have it, a day arrives when an agency employee knocks Sam's watering bottle out of her hands and the chief ad creator trips over it, sending him to the hospital. Urged on by her more outgoing roommate, Samantha develops an "embellished" resume and portfolio that allow her to snag the writing job on a temporary basis. The accounts executive, Bass (David DeLuise) gives her the big task of writing material for a French automotive company called Marceau. In meetings with the firm's executives, Samantha becomes quite close to one of the PR representatives, Desmond (David O'Donnell). In the meantime, Sam continues her blog, not knowing that someone in the ad office has discovered it and spread the word to everyone in the place. Thus, all are privy to Sam's thoughts, her secrets and her blossoming love life. Naturally, there is another disgruntled employee who covets Sam's job and plots to use the blog site to bring Sam down. How will it all end? This was a sweet and clever film that will please most fans of romantic comedy. The stars are mostly unknown but decidedly winning. Thompson, for example, is a dead ringer for Emily Mortimer and gives a nice turn as the aspiring writer. O'Donnell, too, although not cookie cutter handsome, is pleasing as the love interest and DeLuise succeeds as the flick's comic relief. All of the other lesser cast members do fine work as well. The settings are not particularly imaginative but the costumes are quite nice and the film has a polished aura. Most importantly, the script and direction demonstrate originality and zest, happily. In summation, if you are a dedicated viewer of romcoms, you should seek this one out. Dear me, what would the world be without these charming little humorous love tales?
