Avatar Extras says Miss Kwan has been teaching for over 40 years, and one of her students was Vachir, the archer in the Rough Rhinos gang. It also states that Aang is wearing his school uniform belt upside-down on his head to resemble an arrow, and the Fire Nation salute that Aang must give Miss Kwan is supposed to resemble a flame.
