Poor plot, acting, movie...
mrt_bcc6 July 2007
The whole thing as a pure joke, this was a class B-Movie (if not worst.. cause I actually enjoy many b-movies.. I didn't liked this one at all)

Scenario: nothing incredible to keep you tens, you already know what's going to happen and in the end of the movie you try to tell yourself that you didn't lost 90mn of your life. You don't get tied with the characters, and you may ask yourself after the movie if you really watched something.

Acting: awful, there is no acting skills there, only Mairi Lousi was funny in my humble opinion as well as Dimitris Kouroubalis. A special worst mention goes to Doretta Papadimitriou who should quit acting. Sakis Rouvas acting was OK for a singer, actually he played a lot better than many of those so called actors playing in the movie, there was some nice scenes where he played well but the overall acting wasn't good enough to feel the character he was playing.

Editing: bad, there are some really weird cuts and continuity problems. The whole movie looks like a continuous video clip.

The only thing good in the movie was the colors, some scenes was beautiful to look at, and the soundtrack was nice. There was some funny parts like where Sakis has to clean the fish or when Dimitris Kouroubalis was playing the crazy Greek lover. But it was not enough to make this movie interesting.

I would -except if you really are curious and want to see Sakis'acting- advise you to avoid this movie. Watch a Greek movie with meaning like "Politiki kouzina" if you really want to see something useful and feel the story, "Loukoumades me meli" was nice too, but if you are not sure to watch this movie then avoid it.

There is no wonder why only Greeks commented this
metalforos24 September 2008
This is because this is a film that has nothing to show us. Rouvas is good for a pop star (i'm not a pop music fan) but not for an actor. The plot is boring and has nothing new to give us, if it wasn't Rouvas this film wouldn't exist. After 40 minutes you start to get bored and the plot is so slow... Anyway, nothing special in this film, nothing new and nothing that will make you want to see it. But it's not a complete waste, if you are a fan of Rouvas you probably had already seen it. Not that bad though. A rock band (there is nothing "rock" in their music) touring, the love life of their front-man, and a band-mate dead from drugs it maybe a good scenario for some but the movie doesn't help it. Only for fans of Rouvas!

This is crap!!!!

Without a script, without effects, without actors, without a director, Without a single scene with only a nice scene the naked scene of the protagonist, God is awful. Congratulations Sakis

Poor

It could be a romantic TV advertisement for a chocolate with duration not more than 2min. An expensive production for the Greek standards though and the presence of the actor Al. Logothetis worth mentioned.

Unoriginal, unentertaining!
PalVa27 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is another shallow, predictable romantic dramedy (despite the film's comical efforts to pass off as a critique of the Greek showbiz world). You hope there might be some humor, some clever line, some entertaining aspect to make the watching enjoyable, but sadly no. If it hadn't been for Sakis Ruvas's popularity as a pop singer, it would have never made it to the big screen. No wonder that Ruvas is tolerable only during the singing scenes.

The rest of the cast is equally unintersting, if not infuriating. The character of Ariadni, actually, is very badly written. Moody, snobbish and unsociable to the point of obnoxiousness, it makes you really wonder why should she really end up together with Stefanos. And, to make matters worse, we never get an explanation why she carries all this emotional bagage and acts the way she does, despite being given so much film time.

The film itself is, to say the least, superficial. It never makes any effort to show us why Stefanos is depressed, how Filippos became an addict, why Nefeli pretends to be a toughie etc. We never get any real insight and that's a clear example of lazy writing.

The visuals are ok, although many times you get the feeling that you are watching one of these shiny TV-commercials they used to shoot in pre-crisis Greece, which is somewhat off-putting.

As for the plot, don't expect any surprises or twists. And if sometime during the film you happen to wonder whether you're watching a drama or another cheap rom-com, the last 30 minutes will definitely convince you to the latter.

Easily the best Greek film in years
pantelissakis10 May 2007
I was never a Sakis Rouvas fan,so I really didn't care about this movie. But,I do have a girlfriend, and she was dying to see it,so... I'm 26 years old,and when I left the theatre,I was shocked to realize that what people expected from this movie, had nothing to do with the actual film. This film is not about Sakis-it's about a troubled person to which we can all relate to. The story, follows a very interesting road of comedy and drama.Although the people in the theatre lauphed a lot, when the film was over I saw many eyes turned red from crying-and not only on women! The cast is incredible. You forget that the guy who's on screen is Sakis-that guy can really act. The rest of the group are amazing as well, giving life to every character. Danai Skiadi is the perfect 'alter ego' for the protagonist here, and their chemistry is really interesting. The director is nothing like your typical Greek director. He handles close-ups and wide shots like a true professional(that's not something you see often in Greek cinema). However,I was most impressed from the story.A review of the movie and the trailers made me believe that the movie is just about a guy who's in love with two chicks-but that's only 10% of the movie. There's a big twist in the film, which I ain't gonna spoil to you,and many interesting subjects. The film will give you a big lesson by the time it's over. From now on,I'm going to think of this as easily the most misunderstood Greek film.People think that it sucks,as I did as well, but it's just the opposite. You are going to be very, very surprised.

Great fun!!!!
This is certainly the best Greek film ever made, and I'm not only referring at the movie's technical aspects, but also on the artistic aspects. The comedy and drama are very well balanced, the acting is incredible(who could have thought that a singer could act so well?!),and the director is a genius. I'm very proud that in this period where a lot of moneymaking potatoes were released(Spider-Man 3,etc),one film that surpasses them is Greek. This is a break-through film for Greek cinema, and I hope that the makers of this one keep it that way with their next film. Greek cinema needs open-minded people to evolve it,since until the late 90s it was really left behind, and most of Greek movies are still horrible.

Excellent!!! Loved it, cried, laughed, a great way to spend an evening!

A great movie! One of the best Greek movies I have seen in the past few years. Sakis is surprisingly talented as an actor and Danai is great. The movie has great scenery, the director seems to be very talented and the bass player is absolutely hilarious! I must admit that I was quite skeptical before going to see it but it proved to be a good movie and a great way to spend the evening. I recommend it not only for women but also for men! Pay close attention to Doretta (the blonde actress) and Laertis (the bald guy). I am sure we will be seeing them again in the future as they were both great. I loved the music in the movie and especially the Greek song at the end. In all, go and see it, you won't regret it!

Rock star on the verge of collapsing...a new beginning is made due to the death of a member of the group.
dj_stan_sotos31 May 2007
i've just seen this movie and i must admit that i loved it.I'am in general a Sakis Rouvas fan but this movie was everything i wanted to see from a teen movie. It has comedy, thrills, drama and lots of singing.Although the script is a little bit predictable and the characters far too complex, for real life, the movie has a certain mood that makes you feel part of the group. Also the director did an excellent work accompanied with the music selection from sumka and the fabulous dresses...It is one of the best Greek productions in history and sets new standards...So as you understand i really liked alter ego and i suggest it to all of you..I can't wait for the DVD to come out.
