The second honeymoon. The one chance every marriage gets to rekindle that old flame, show that the spark is still there and was simply buried beneath your silly habits, qualms, worries and cares. It's an opportunity to show you've still got it and you still love each other, no matter what you like to think. George and Jane hope to rekindle their flame as they head off for their second honeymoon, after literally dropping the kids off at Grandma's and Astro at the kennel, they were on their way to Las Venus. They arrive at their hotel, the Super Sonic Sands, that features a fabulous valet service: they demolish your car, but give you a new one when you leave, which in some cases may be immediately, and the room service...you don't go up to the room, it comes down to you. Each room has its own personal dealer, and robotic slot machines come in to harass you to try your luck on every hour. Jane's luck proved better than George's, but they intend to make this vacation really work. Far away from their worries and their cares, namely Mr. Spacely. So while Jane goes to look around, George gets a long distance call, and guess who it is? Well, you mention his name at an inappropriate time and he's bound to show up soon after: Mr. Spacely. He tells George to meet with a client, G.G. Galaxy, staying at the Las Venus Venus hotel next door. George is uninterested until Spacely hints at a vice presidency in it for him. So he sneaks out and meets the client: Gigi Galaxy. A woman! A vivacious, spacious woman. She wants to discuss the impending contract over dinner, thus meaning George would have to cancel his dinner date with his wife, whom he'd come to Las Venus to be with and get away from his rotten job and boss. But apparently even a second honeymoon can't jar George's one-track mind, so he decides to uphold his deal with Spacely AND wine and dine his wife. Oh my, do I detect the hilarity and hijinks looming on the horizon?
Well, George and Jane eat dinner and then do an anti-gravity dance. Remembering his other engagement, George gives Jane a good hard spin and dashes over to the Las Venus Venus to meet with Gigi, who wants to dance. George spins her and rushes back to Jane and finishes their dance. But suddenly, Mr. Spacely shows up at the hotel in person, causing George to race back to Gigi. But now Jane and Spacely are coming in... looks like someone has some "s'plaining" to do. Gigi reassures Jane that George's mind was solely on the contract and that he hasn't a romantic bone in his body. George denies the latter. So, George becomes vice president for an episode and Spacely gets to dance with Gigi. So it all worked out. As George and Jane enjoy a romantic moment on the balcony, they're instantly horded by dozens of slot robots.
This is the episode that introduced me to the Jetsons. I was a big Flintstones fan and I wasn't sure if their space age counterparts would be as good, but I saw they were. It's a good episode for what it is. Plenty of funny moments, the designs for Las Venus were very creative. I definitely recommend this one. It's solid gold.
