Warning: Spoilers
Detective Kat Miller is looking at the picture of a youth, Skill, a murder victim she knew during her days at Narcotics. Kat, it turns out, was at the scene when the young man died. She also notices that another box containing the file of an unsolved case, the murder of Madison Reed is resting next to Skill's, and by coincidence their deaths occurred the same day. She points the similarities to Lilly because both cases are still open and Kat thinks there might be a link to both.

For starters, both Skill and Madison belonged to different worlds. Skill, a poor young black boy, was a product of the ghetto, while Madison came from Chesnut Hill, an area where the rich Philadelphians live. Unknown to the detectives, Madison and her mother had been abandoned by a father and now had to make adjustments in the way they lived. Both victims died under a cloud of suspicion as the detectives think Madison and Skill were killed because both were involved as users, but in fact, they had not used drugs at all.

As the investigation proceeds, one thing comes evident, Madison's mother is in reality the one having a drug problem since the husband decamped. Skill was trying to leave drug trafficking behind him, so it is curious why he was killed. The detectives realize both names are connected, but in a different way, and yes, they died at the same time, but there were two different assassins in each case.

Alex Zakrzewski directed the script written by Veena Cabreros Sud, both frequent collaborators of the series. The cast makes a good attempt to make this an interest episode. Nick Vera's relationship with Toni ends because she cannot put up with his hours. What started as a promising love affair fizzles without much explanation.
