- Inside information helps thieves rob a group of recently-paid itinerant fruit pickers, but murder results when one particularly desperate victim refuses to follow their orders.
- Using inside information from Sandy Collins, Jack and George Willis stop a truck carrying Collins and 11 fellow itinerant fruit pickers, all of whom are carrying their month's pay of $200. The Willises rob them at gunpoint and shoot Joe Valentine when he disobeys their orders and attempts to follow them. Collins gives Dan Mathews false information in an attempt to divert the investigation, but Dan easily exposes the flaws in his story. When Valentine dies, interrogation of Collins intensifies and additional evidence implicating him in the crime is discovered. Collins breaks down and provides information that Dan uses to set up roadblocks that will trap the Willises before they can flee the area.—Sam Spear
- Two blindfolded men rob a truck full of itinerant workers of their pay, they shoot and kill one Joe Valentine, worker-eyewitness Sandy Collins gives the HP wrong information when questioned by Dan Mathews. The two were driving a white convertible he says when they in a station wagon.
Stopping at a rest-stop-café for tourists, the thieves mail Collins his percentage special delivery. Dan gets the word Valentine died on arrival to the hospital. He goes back to the scene of the robbery, re-enacting the crime by having Walters park his squad car where the killers parked. Dan could not see the parked squad, making Collins story dubious at best.
Dan and Walters catch up with Ed Nash and Collins, telling Nash they will take Collins in for more questions, as the crime now includes murder. Collins was looking for a letter, special delivery, giving a false excuse to Nash for his reason to be away from the other workers.
The two murderers, George and Jack Willis, discuss the faith at least one of them has in Collins to provides false information, taking their haul inside.
Collins gets questioned by Mathews, Nash comes by with Collins' special delivery letter, Collins says it's from his mother, who has been ill. Dan notices the postmark is local, has Collins open the envelope, out falls a coin-locker key. Dan says let's go see the locker while the two Willis' hear Valentine died over the radio. Willis' decide to escape in their station-wagon, assuming Collins will cave when questioned.
Walters opens the locker, finds cash in an envelope, resulting in Collins begins to volunteer the information on the Willis'. Collins is booked and the search for George and Jack Willis begins as Dan and the HP roadblocks watch for the station wagon with two passengers.
A HP Officer spots the car, blocks the road, gun drawn, Willis' spot the squad and turn around. planning to take a dirt road. Suspects turn off on dirt road, Dan and Walters following, there is a detour sign they try to remove when Dan and Walters come up on them. Shots fired, one Willis down, the other captured, cuffed. Dan walks the cuffed one back to a squad, Walters checks on the one he shot.
