Kinda Cute
w00f6 October 2007
While nothing that's going to win any Oscars, "Bit Parts" is an OK flick for a slow afternoon. It's actually sort of cute, in a perverse way. The acting isn't as bad as one often sees in low-budget horror flicks and it doesn't take itself too seriously. I mean, c'mon, anytime you have a mad plastic surgeon standing over a patient delivering the line, "One booby... two boobies..." you can't hate the flick too much.

It's not terribly memorable on most counts, but the daddy/daughter scenes aren't bad. There's even a bit of chemistry between the actors playing those parts. The rest is pretty hit-and-miss and there are a few big plot holes (e.g., the female lead could have called the police on her cell phone without leaving the mad surgeon's house, so the line "I'm not leaving here without Melissa!" in response to the cabbie's suggestion about fetching the police is rather a miss on the writer's part).

Still, it's one of those movies that one might have seen on the old "Up All Night" show, and who knows, maybe an edited version will show up on the SciFi channel one of these days.

Nothing great, but not terrible, either. Like I said, it's kinda cute.

This movie sucks

Warning: Spoilers
This happens to be one of the worst movies I have ever do...err rented. What a piece of trash! The acting is some of the worst I have ever encountered in all my days of watching real bad horror films. The gore is terrible, the violence almost not even there, and the plot is so laughable it makes me cringe to even think about. I can't believe all the people on here writing good reviews. How could you say something good about this? I thought it had potential from the box cover but no way is this even remotely close to something that is worth watching. If you want some entertainment, I would suggest picking your toenails or combing your hair before watching this flick.

I give it a F!

PLEASE, whoever made this film just stop right now. Don't torture the world anymore with this garbage!

PS: I thought Plan 9 From Outer Space directed by Ed Wood was better.

Watch anything else!! Im 99% sure it will be better than this.

I gave this a rating of one because thats where the scale starts.Really its painful to watch .The acting is that bad.The Directer must still be a young possibly preteen.I don't mind wasting time watching less than great movies in fact I've seen a lot of stinkers. But seldom does it hurt to watch glaring plot holes.Terrible Child-like script. But what angered me most is that I come and Read IMDb to see if a film is worth seeing. And the review I read made this train wreak sound interesting.

Then I watch it and even after the first 10 mins of the film and knowing it was crap.I went ahead and forced myself to watch the rest because I wanted to find that one thing in the film that the reviewer might have liked.I didn't see it and Im betting you wont as well.

A very ambitious film that delivers with a gripping pace and a creepy, funny feel

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and I am really glad that I stumbled across it! I was web surfing on Primus's web page and from there I ended up looking at Tim Alexander's website and saw the link to your movie and decided that Bit Parts looked interesting enough and that it seemed like it was worth a watch.

The pace of this movie had me gripped from the first few minutes. Maggie is a character like no other!! Doc was creepy and convincing. Bobby made me laugh and that mailboxes guy was a total weirdo! Melissa and her sister (I forget her name) were confident and beautiful actresses! I have to say that you did a great job on casting!! The choice of actors and actresses was excellent! I also really liked the music in the film, especially the way the score was mixed with more of a modern soundtrack which really added to the atmosphere and helped complete the film.

Fresh and creative, definitely check it out.

It's my opinion that some of the best horror films have come and will come from the indie market.

And this is one of those indie films that instead of trying to mimic a much larger production look and failing. It instead if lets the focus be on it's strongest point which is it's originally and creative premise.

For this horror buff it's a great surprise to come across any horror film lately that strikes up my interest strictly with the plot idea. In an age of remakes we have something fresh coming out that has been done right and I think people should check it out.

Impressive

I really found this movie impressive. So few times do I see an independent horror movie that genuinely displays a clean technique and develops it through the movie. Dave Reda really understands the technique of building a horror movie and "Bit Parts" certainly serves those skills. Not only that, but the script really shows a love for these characters and doesn't portray any of the characters as two-dimensional at all, you really understand the justifications of these characters despite the horrible things they are doing. Particularly impressive also was the performance of Molly Fix as a lead. Highly recommended for fans of independent horror.
