The teaser doesn’t have much, being only a 5-second long video, but seemingly makes a reference to Returnal or at least that’s what the fans think, promising some kind of reveal ‘today’, the 30th of April. This has excited fans who await the announcement.

Silent Hill 2 is one of the most popular horror titles out there, and since Konami surprised the fans with the remake of the title, fans have been excited about it. The game is in development at Bloober Team and is said to be a faithful recreation of the original title that was released back in 2001.
However, Konami has not given any further details on it, and there is no release date as of now. Despite the lack of official detail, fans have come across a change with the protagonist that makes it seem like there is more work left to be done than anticipated, and they are not happy.

The Esrb recently gave developer Bloober Team’s upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake an “M” Rating. That rating isn’t particularly surprising, nor are many of the specific pieces of in-game content the Esrb cited when explaining their rating. For instance, the governing body noted that Silent Hill 2 contains “realistic gunfire, cries of pain, and blood-splatter effects” as well as “enemies with body parts sewn together.” In other words, standard Silent Hill 2 stuff.
However, there is one part of the Esrb’s rating that certainly stands out. According to that organization, the Silent Hill 2 remake also features “characters pole-dancing in strip-club settings.”
What makes that warning so strange isn’t the idea that Silent Hill 2 features sexualized content. The base game had plenty of sexualized (often disturbingly sexualized) content, and the Esrb rating references some of that legacy material. No, what’s strange about that particular...

The Silent Hill 2 Remake is on the horizon as fans wait for an official release date. While many are still hoping for a Fall 2024 release window, the possibility of 2025 is still in the air.
The Entertainment Software Rating Board (Esrb) recently published the upcoming remake’s rating and it’s what you would expect from the series. Blood, violence, guns, and creatures like Pyramid Head are in the rating summary for Silent Hill 2 Remake. However, one sentence towards the latter half of the summary is tripping up the community.
The game contains some suggestive/sexual material: characters pole-dancing in strip-club settings.
Was this a mistake? Or are Bloober Team and Konami adding pole-dancing into Silent Hill 2 Remake?
Silent Hill 2 Remake Esrb Rating Suggests Sexual Themes Silent Hill 2 Remake still has blood, violence, and gore.
It’s common for games to get rated by the Esrb before they officially release.

Thanks to the Esrb, we’re getting closer to the eventual release of Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2. The Entertainment Software Ratings Board has posted their rating for the upcoming remake, which as you’d expect, gets a Mature rating for “Blood and Gore, Language, Sexual Themes, Violence.”
Spotted by VGChartz, the listing for Silent Hill 2 on the Esrb website gives a summary of the game, as well as detailing what constitutes the game’s M rating. Of note is the description of some of the environments, which “depict large bloodstains and/or intestines/organs on walls, floors, and surrounding bodies.” Silent Hill 2‘s cutscenes also pile on the disturbing stuff, including characters being impaled, a character suffocated to death with a pillow, and enemies with body parts sewn together.

Konami’s Silent Hill 2 was first announced back in October 2022 when the game was said to be under development by Bloober Team. There have been leaks and rumors ever since about the release of the highly anticipated remake but nothing official has surfaced. A fan has now spotted a giant poster put up at Gamestop and now fans are hopeful for an imminent announcement soon.
There have been reports of placeholder empty cases of the game in several stores but this was the first time a giant poster was put up. Some fans are still apprehensive about it and believe it to be a marketing tactic to get more pre-orders in.

It’s been over 22 years since the original Silent Hill 2 was published by Konami, and understandably, for many fans, this is too much time to wait for the remake to finally make its debut this year.
So much so that players are still asking when an exact release date will finally be announced, as there are those in the gaming community who claim that the game is ready, but we are just waiting on Konami to set the terms of when we will see it.

For more than two decades, Silent Hill 2 has been considered one of the scariest games of all time. The game was first released for PlayStation 2, then Xbox and PC, and in 2012, a remastered version was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game’s psychological horror story often makes it hard for one to play it alone and in order to tackle this problem, a gamer has been looking for a companion.

PlayStation 5 fans are not very fortunate this year; the crop of exclusives that are coming to this platform will be noticeably thinner in 2024. But the few games that are being released for this platform are incredibly well made. Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, Silent Hill 2, and this year’s biggest surprise hit, Helldivers 2.

The combat-heavy trailer for the Silent Hill 2 remake didn’t “capture the spirit of the game,” says Bloober Team boss Piotr Babieno, implying that Konami was responsible.
Unveiled during Sony’s State Of Play online event in January, the latest trailer for Bloober Team’s remake of Silent Hill 2 didn’t exactly go down a storm with fans.
Although there were some complaints that the revival of Konami’s much-loved survival horror didn’t look great in the graphics department, the more common gripe was that its seeming focus on punching and shooting flew in the face of the original game’s creeping dread.
“Ah yes, the combat,” one comment read at the time. “That thing that everyone remembers and loves about Silent Hill 2.”
In a somewhat testy response to those criticisms, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno has said that Konami – the game’s publisher – was “entirely responsible for that trailer.

For fifty-nine episodes, Sophie Turner played the role of Sansa Stark on the hit series Game of Thrones. For sixty-two episodes, Kit Harington played the role of Jon Snow on that same show. And now Turner and Harington are set to work together again, as Deadline reports that they have both signed on to star in the Gothic horror film The Dreadful! This film is coming our way from writer/director Natasha Kermani, who has previously directed the thriller Shattered, the sci-fi drama Imitation Girl, and the horror film Lucky, as well as multiple short films and a segment of the horror anthology V/H/S/85.
The Dreadful will be set against the backdrop of the War of the Roses, which took place from 1455 to 1487. The story follows Anne (Turner) and her mother-in-law Morwen, who live a solitary, harsh life on the outskirts of society. But when a man (Harington) from their past returns,...

To no one’s surprise, fans jumped at the chance to return to the series with last week’s release of Silent Hill: The Short Message. The free-to-play game reportedly logged over a million downloads since its launch during the Sony State of Play last Thursday, with Konami taking to X to announce the big news.
Much like the game’s namesake, Konami was short but sweet with their announcement, thanking all those who played the game.
This is certainly welcome news for Konami after the questionable response from fans and critics over last year’s Silent Hill: Ascension, which despite the interesting concept, didn’t quite endear itself to fans looking for a traditional return of the franchise.

After a couple of delays, Thq’s belated remake of Alone in the Dark is almost upon us and we couldn’t be more hyped. After all, the title is poised to breathe fresh life into what was once recognized as the granddaddy of survival horror (even though it predates that label by a good few years).

We happen to be lucky enough to live in a timeline where horror is unquestionably crushing at the box office and otherwise. People are lining up in droves not only to see men in tights throwing down to save the universe in superhero flicks but to see monsters and ghouls doing horrible and heinous things to human beings. And no, I’m not talking about congress. I’m talking about some good old-fashioned wear your brown pants to the theater and leave the kids at home (or don’t I don’t judge) , horror flicks. I can’t promise you everything is going to be okay in 2024. Not with Ezra Miller roaming the streets, but I can promise you this… we’ve got a lot of great horror flicks headed our way. Probably. Well, they sound cool.

Sony and Konami are hitting the ground running for Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater and the Silent Hill 2. Details about Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake have been minimal over the past year, but the developer says “production is progressing smoothly”…
Seemingly making up for lost time, Konami announced a whole wave of new Silent Hill games last year. Among the most anticipated is a remake of Silent Hill 2, which is being handled by Polish developer, Bloober Team.
A year later, and little has been seen from Bloober’s remake, which will revise the 2001 classic of the same name for a new generation of hardware. Seemingly making up for lost time, Konami announced a whole wave of new Silent Hill games last year. Among the most anticipated is a remake of Silent Hill 2, which is being handled by Polish developer, Bloober Team.

With all of the talk about Silent Hill 2, it’s easy to forget about the other Silent Hill games that were announced by Konami, and even the ones that weren’t officially announced. That latter point, of course, refers to Silent Hill: The Short Message, which when we last heard about it, had its info leaked by the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee.
Now it’s the Australian Classification Board (Acb) doing the leaking. Per Video Games Chronicle, in the board’s annual report, alongside rating the game as MA15+ for “Strong suicide themes, horror violence, and coarse language”, the Acb has revealed new information regarding The Short Message.
Do note that these next sections includes spoilers, so be warned.
According to the report, Silent Hill: The Short Message is an “exploration‑based psychological horror game” that centres on characters in an apartment building called The Villa in modern‑day Germany.

Update: Konami has now stated that the original Best Buy production information page was incorrect. The listing has since been updated to remove the line regarding Pyramid Head. No further information has been released as of this time. Our original story has been left unchanged as a reference for this new information.
Recently, the team behind Silent Hill: Ascension (an interactive series based on the Silent Hill franchise) had to shut down the chat feature that was supposed to be an essential part of the entire interactive experience. Why? Well, it turns out that the chat function was being overworked/abused by fans who kept spamming often lurid requests regarding, among other things, the sexual acts they would like Pyramid Head to perform on them.
It was an entirely predictable outcome for a project that seemed to be a terrible idea from the start. Remarkably, though, that arguably isn’t...

Update: Per Eurogamer, Konami has clarified that the Best Buy listing for the Silent Hill 2 remake pre-order was based on “incorrect information”. The third line referring to Pyramid Head and the “special origin story” has now been removed.
The big question on several Silent Hill fans’ minds at the moment: Where’s Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake? Ever since the game was announced last year, and with conflicting information as to the game’s progress in development, there hasn’t been a lot of info in regards as to when we’d actually see the game.
Enter the various sources that have dropped tidbits of info that, while they might not be definitive, they do offer up clues about the remake, including its potential release date.

There are those who would have you believe the last 23 years of horror gaming have been a notable low point for the genre. However, horror gaming hasn’t gone away; it’s simply changed. Like a muted monster bursting from a lab, modern horror has escaped the confines of the Triple-a gaming industry and mutated into something more terrifying than even the horror gaming genre’s creators could have ever imagined.
We’ve been “treated” to the release of some of the most terrifying games you’ll ever have the fortune (or misfortune) of experiencing. As indie developers pushed the boundaries of how much terror we’re willing to tolerate in the name of entertainment, major studios responded with a new wave of digital nightmares. It’s been an era of unprecedented experimentation that has resulted in some of the most exciting examples of horror gaming ever unleashed upon the public.

I love horror sequels to a degree I can not always defend. Mind you, I’m not just talking about the ones that are generally considered to be great. On any given night, I will gleefully watch something like Amityville 1992: It’s About Time, Maniac Cop 2, Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night 2, Pet Semetary 2, or pretty much any slasher sequel.
As I’ve tried to make sense of what it is that is so appealing about those sequels (beyond their individual charms), I’ve arrived at only one somewhat logical conclusion. Horror sequels are often, in their own ways, pretty bold. That’s even true of some of those “lesser” horror sequels. Armed with a small budget, a recognizable name, and little oversight, the directors and writers of those sequels ran with the rare opportunity to get their wild ideas on screen. That devil-may-care attitude often makes so many...

After the first day of big reveals, Feardemic’s Fear Fest 2023 concluded last night with the Horror Game Awards. Spread across 13 categories (and one lifetime achievement award), the big winner last night was Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 remake.
The acclaimed remake of the 2005 classic nabbed all five of its nominated categories, including Horror Game of The Year. Meanwhile, Capcom’s other Resident Evil title, Resident Evil Village, snagged the award for Best VR/Ar Horror.
The title closest to equaling RE4‘s total wins was rose-engine’s Alien-esque Survival Horror title Signalis, which snagged the awards for Best Narrative of the Year and Best Indie Horror of the Year.
Meanwhile, the Horror Game Awards’ Lifetime Achievement Award went to Mikael Hedberg, lead writer for the upcoming Alone in the Dark remake, as well as Amnesia: Rebirth and Soma.
Here’s a complete rundown of the winners:

First announced back in May, Feardemic’s voting for the Horror Game Awards is now open for you, the fans, to decide the best of 2022’s crop of horror video games. It’s up to you to decide who receives Golden Bats in each of the 13 categories between all of your favorite games.
The Horror Game Awards are part of Feardemic’s horror extravaganza, Fear Fest, which is being run in partnership with IGN, and will take place on September 6th & 7th. The event will showcase the most anticipated horror games coming your way for the latter half of 2023 and into 2024, plus “a ton of indie horror” from indie publishers.
The next night will see Feardemic and IGN present the Horror Game Awards, celebrating the best horror games of 2022, and honoring the developers who made them. That does not, however, mean that you have months to cast your votes, because...

When the original Layers of Fear was released back in 2016, the survival-horror genre was in a dire position. Sure you had games like Amnesia and Outlast carrying the torch of horror in the indie scene, but you saw most publishers shy away from the genre as a whole in a post Resident Evil 6 world. This was upended when Konami revealed that none other than Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima and director Guillermo del Toro were collaborating on a brand new Silent Hill game, which was revealed with a playable teaser called P.T. That game never saw the light of day but ideas and concepts in the teaser helped inspire Bloober Team to create Layers of Fear, a moody and atmospheric horror game that focuses less on outrunning enemies and more on telling the story of one man’s descent into madness as he struggles to create his magnum opus.

While E3 is probably never coming back, we may have found a suitable replacement in the form of Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest. However, even though we now have a new king of game announcement trailers, we still have to deal with the age-old tradition of leaks and rumors. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
With Summer Game Fest 2023 drawing closer, the internet has started kicking up a storm of speculation. Every gamer and their grandmother has posted lists of titles they want to see during the event, and more than a few have posted insider info (or what they claimed is insider info) of what audiences can expect. Given the sheer number of these posts, it’s difficult to separate what will probably show up and what is a fanciful dream, but we’re gonna try.

Yeah, we’re all psyched for the Silent Hill 2 remake. But what about the big collaboration involving Behaviour Interactive, Bad Robot Games, Genvid and DJ2 Entertainment with Silent Hill: Ascension? Wonder no more, as Genvid Entertainment and Konami Digital Entertainment have dropped a new trailer and info for the upcoming interactive streaming series coming later this year.
Silent Hill: Ascension follows multiple main characters from locations around the world tormented by new and terrifying monsters from the world of Silent Hill. Lurking in the shadows, these monsters threaten to consume people, their children, and entire towns as they’re drawn into the darkness by both recent murders and long suppressed guilt and fears.
In Silent Hill: Ascension, the actions of millions will determine the outcome. That’s right, not even the project’s creators know how the series will end. Instead, the character’s fates are in the audience’s hands.

It has been a long time coming, but I am finally making my way through the Silent Hill franchise. I dusted off my cobweb-covered PSP classic three years ago to play the original. Two years ago, Neil and I were joined by Matt Jordan to celebrate Silent Hill 2‘s 20th anniversary. And This week, we’re celebrating yet another milestone, Silent Hill 3‘s 20th anniversary!
Playing these games in such short succession to one another has felt like nothing short of a crash course in a realm of survival horror that goes beyond traditional conventions. To be 20 years removed from such experiences’ original release and their groundbreaking storytelling is still as potent indicates their timelessness. And for my money, Silent Hill 3 feels like the most refined entry in the series we have covered yet.

PlayStation’s next big showcase event is scheduled to run on March 24. According to PlayStation, the event will run for “over an hour” and focus on “PS5 and Ps VR2 games in development from top studios from around the world.” While they’re playing it pretty cool, most fans expect this to be a massive PlayStation event. After all, this showcase is essentially taking the place of the E3 showcases that PlayStation stopped running years ago.
That being the case, there is no shortage of rumors regarding what, exactly, we’ll see during the event. Many of those rumors are little more than that, but a series of more solid leaks seem to point to some of the reveals and announcements you may actually see in the very near future.

We could always use more output from Akira Yamaoka, and we don’t have to wait for Slitterhead or the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake to get it. Developer Atelier Qdb’s upcoming psychological horror title Decarnation, which features music from Yamaoka, will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on May 31.
Alongside publisher Shiro Unlimited, Atelier Qdb announced that Decarnation will feature 10 tracks from the composer.
“I am delighted to have been able to take part in Decarnation‘s development, which draws its inspiration from works that are extremely dear to me, such as Moju: The Blind Beast by Edogawa Rampo,” said Yamaoka. “It is one of my favorite novels and has inspired many of my personal creations. In many ways, Decarnation reminds me of this work, and I have developed a special connection with this game. I sincerely hope that players will enjoy it as much as I do!

It’s going to be a busy year for Silent Hill fans. An upcoming packed slate of video games and a new movie on the way opens the doors for new merch, which will include an officially licensed makeup collection from Vampyre Cosmetics.
The beauty brand took to Twitter yesterday to tease an upcoming collection that’ll feature imagery from the Silent Hill games. It’s interesting to note that “games” is plural, opening up possibilities across multiple games in the popular franchise.
Vampyre Cosmetics hasn’t revealed any details or a launch date for the officially licensed collaboration just yet. Check out the tweet below for the tease.
The Silent Hill collaboration marks the latest for the company, which previously launched themed makeup collections for Emily the Strange, Vincent Price, the Winchester Mystery House, and more.
As a refresher, Konami previously announced a new Silent Hill 2 remake with Bloober Team.

Back when Konami finally announced the Silent Hill 2 remake, they had also announced that we’d be getting a whack of new Silent Hill merchandise. It just so happens that Sweet Factory has revealed a new Gecco 1/6 scale statue of Silent Hill 2 protagonist James Sunderland that’s available for pre-order right now.
Sculpted by Shinya Yamaoka and standing approximately 31cm (just over 12 inches), James comes on a polystone base that “recreates the subtle details of the dead-end of the town”, with Health Drinks at his feet. He also has several accessory options for his right hand. You can either choose to have him brandishing a pistol, a plank, a steel pipe, a shotgun, or the Great Knife.
James can also be displayed alongside the 1/6 scale statue of Maria (which is coming soon) from the same statue series to recreate the scene from Silent Hill 2 where they meet...

It would appear that development on Bloober Team’s upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake isn’t quite as far as we were initially led to believe. After comments made last week by Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno saying that the remake was “technically ready”, Bloober Team has since clarified that as a mistranslation.
Bloober Team took to Twitter to explain the comments, saying that while the team doesn’t comment on rumours, they felt that this time, they needed to “to take the floor”. The team clarified that despite the comments, Silent Hill 2 is not yet ready for release. “Regardless of the development stage, all of our activities are focused on obtaining the highest quality for the finished product—the quality that fans of Silent Hill 2 deserve. It's about time for "Silent Hill" to make a comeback. The popular horror video game franchise is not only getting several new entries but also another film adaptation. "Return to Silent Hill" will become the third movie in the series, though it sounds as if director Christopher Gans is making more of a reboot than a proper sequel. The film will serve to accompany the upcoming video game titles in a massive wave of "Silent Hill" projects that publisher Konami announced last October.
The series revolves around the titular town of Silent Hill (located in Maine in the games and West Virginia in the movies), a place imbued with an ancient and terrible power that manifests its visitors' inner fears, traumas, and guilt in the form of misshapen creatures. Each entry follows a different character and their hellish adventures into Silent Hill, where they have to contend with the Order,...

That doesn’t mean the game is over, but we’re close,” explained Babieno. “However, the issues of the publishing schedule lie with our partners, what the promotion will look like and when the title will debut, it does not lie directly in our hands.” This is the latest update on Silent Hill 2 since Bloober Team had revealed last October that the game was in an “advanced stage” of development.
Elsewhere in the interview, much like Babieno’s interview with IGN a few weeks back, the CEO talked of Bloober Team’s evolution as a company. “We are slowly moving away...

Bloober Team made waves when the original Layers of Fear came out in 2016. The psychological horror game was released right at the start of the Survival Horror renaissance and presented players with a deeply haunting tale about a painter driven to madness as he attempts to create his “masterpiece.”
Wildly successful at the time, Bloober team went on to expand Layers of Fear into a successful series with multiple entries and eventually moved on to deliver more horror experiences with Blair Witch and The Medium. With the recent announcement that Bloober team is taking the reins on the Silent Hill 2 remake, the team has decided to go back to their breakout hit to close out a chapter of their history as they prepare to move forward. In a hands-off demonstration and Q&a, we were given a first look into what’s new in the world of Layers of Fear.
