Warning: Spoilers
What turns a good student into ultimately being murdered by making the wrong choice, is what happens to James Hoffman, a student in an expensive prep school. His single dad, has made all kinds of sacrifices to bring up James and his sister after his wife's desertion. James, in spite of his sad experience, is seen cramming up for his upcoming college interviews. His father insists he pays attention to a question that will surely be asked: What is his real passion?

It is Alexa Hoffman who comes to the Cold Case unit in search for answers about the death of her brother. The detectives decide to take the challenge by going to investigate right at what seems to have been the source of the problem, James' prep school. What they discover is how James, who was perceived as a sort of geek, suddenly transformed himself into joining a kind of fight club where the students compete in bloody fist fights, venting their own frustrations.

Two figures emerge from the people that might have been involved in James' murder. Tanner Lennox and Cole Palmer, two of the teenagers that fought rivals, beating them to a pulp. When Cole is eliminated, Tanner becomes the person the detectives want to get to know better. What they find is that the father, Arthur Lennox, has something to hide from his involvement in the case.

Directed by David Barrett and written by Greg Plageman, this was a good episode. The director, a frequent guest in the program, and Mr. Plageman, part of the creative team of the series, team up to give the viewer an interesting show, even though the basic idea has been borrowed for this installment.
