- Jack Bauer: We didn't find Gredenko.
- Philip Bauer: [about to execute Jack] Then all of this was for nothing. On your knees. It didn't have to end like this Jack.
- [Aims at Jack's head behind him]
- Philip Bauer: You could've had it all.
- Jack Bauer: I just want you to know, I didn't want you to feel like I had turned my back on you, that I turned my back on the family. I just had to go in my own way, to do things for myself, and I... was never good enough for you. I'm sorry. Anyway... I'm ready. What are you waiting for...? DO IT! DAMN YOU!
- Jack Bauer: [dialing a phone number Philip left for him] My name is Jack Bauer. Who am I talking to?
- Charles Logan: You must have exhausted all your options to find Gredenko.
- Jack Bauer: Who is this?
- Charles Logan: It's Charles Logan, Jack.
- Marilyn Bauer: [Talking privately, referring to Hacker] does he know where Philip is holding Josh?
- Jack Bauer: No, we're going to have to "force my father's hand"
- Marilyn Bauer: Meaning what?
- Jack Bauer: His going to call my father, tell him his apprehended you: that you won't give him Gredenko's location until he takes you to see your son
- Marilyn Bauer: What if Philip refuses?
- Jack Bauer: Then you have to stay firm. Tell him it's not a negotiation, no matter what he threatens
- Marilyn Bauer: You're asking me to put Josh's life at risk
- Jack Bauer: Josh's life is already at risk. Trust me, my father is not going to give away his location unless he thinks he has to
- Marilyn Bauer: Is that what this is about? Finding Philip, Josh is secondary?
- Jack Bauer: My father will have Josh with him. I will do everything in my power to make sure your son is safe
- Marilyn Bauer: [after thinking it over, referring to Hacker] how do you know he won't betray us?
- Jack Bauer: He wants to live
- Philip Bauer: [Over the phone, referring to Marilyn] do you have her?
- Kozelek Hacker: [Over the phone as Jack listens in] yeah but we took causalities, I'm on my own now
- Philip Bauer: Are you assembling another team to take out Gredenko?
- Kozelek Hacker: Yeah I am, she's refusing to tell me where Gredenko is until she sees her son
- Philip Bauer: Put her on
- Marilyn Bauer: [after Hacker hands her the phone] I did what you asked: now where's Josh?
- Philip Bauer: I know you're frightened, this doesn't have to end badly. If you help me find Gredenko, we can all "survive" this as a family
- Marilyn Bauer: I don't know what you're talking about, I just want my son
- Philip Bauer: I'm just saying, you made a deal with Graem, now make a deal with me. With enough time, you and I, and Josh can rebuild whatever is left of this family. All the legacy I'm trying to preserve will someday be his, we can do this. First you have to tell me where Gredenko is
- Marilyn Bauer: [Nervously, referring to Hacker] only if this man takes me to see my son
- Philip Bauer: Bringing you here will only complicate things and I need Gredenko now. Tell me where he is
- Marilyn Bauer: [after she sees Jack shake his head] no
- Philip Bauer: [Sternly] you may have misunderstood my offer as a sign of weakness, so let me make it "perfectly" clear: if you do not help me, I see no future for you or for Josh. I will walk into the next room and kill him. Right now, tell me or Josh dies
- Marilyn Bauer: I will not tell you what you want to know until I have my son
- Reed Pollock: [Meeting privately] I was beginning to get worried
- Tom Lennox: Meeting went long: here's the President's itinerary
- Reed Pollock: Ok, this will work
- Tom Lennox: So, when's all this happening?
- Reed Pollock: For now, I need you to authorize clearance for somebody to get inside the bunker. Once his inside, he'll "carry the ball"
- Tom Lennox: [Amused] "Carry the ball?" You mean kill the President?
- Reed Pollock: I would like to think we are beyond the point of "second guessing" ourselves. This President has endangered the lives of millions of people
- Tom Lennox: You do not need to tell me what the stakes are here. So, who's this person we're putting inside?
- Reed Pollock: He's a security specialist: private sector but I've already put in a request for him to advise my group on civil response options. He has a Level Two clearance, I just need you to upgrade him
- Tom Lennox: They'll trace this thing right back to me
- Reed Pollock: No, you won't even be investigated. We have a "cover"
- Tom Lennox: A "cover?" Who?
- Reed Pollock: Assad
- Tom Lennox: Assad? You're trying to make it look like he did this?
- Reed Pollock: Sir, all you need to do is call in your authorization
- Tom Lennox: You asked to see me Sir?
- President Wayne Palmer: Yes, I'd like to hear your thoughts on something
- Tom Lennox: My thoughts on what Sir?
- President Wayne Palmer: Assad's speech: his going live in less than one hour and before I give him my thoughts, I wanted to hear yours. Is there a problem?
- Tom Lennox: No Sir, it's just...
- President Wayne Palmer: [Interrupts him] what?
- Tom Lennox: I assumed you were no longer interested in my opinion Sir
- President Wayne Palmer: I still value your judgment and if I made you feel otherwise, I apologize
- Morris O'Brian: How you holding up?
- Milo Pressman: I'll be ok
- Morris O'Brian: So, what happened?
- Milo Pressman: It was just stupid, I was never trained to be a field agent
- Morris O'Brian: Well, maybe they should because you protected Marilyn Bauer: that's what I heard
- Milo Pressman: I had no idea what I was doing. Things just happened so fast
- Morris O'Brian: Don't "downplay" it to make me feel better, you don't have to do that
- Chloe O'Brian: [Talking privately] do you realize after everything we've been through what a betrayal this is?
- Morris O'Brian: [Shrugs his shoulders] I was a little late
- Chloe O'Brian: I can smell it on your breath
- Morris O'Brian: Yes, I took a drink but I spat it out straight away, I swear. Look at me, I am stone cold sober
- Chloe O'Brian: Your losing control: your placing other people's in danger. I'm going to have to tell Buchanan
- Morris O'Brian: After everything that has happened, "something" had to give. The important thing is I realized I didn't want to throw everything away: especially you and I stopped myself and that is a little "victory" alright? I swear it'll never happen again. Please don't tell Buchanan because your right, me getting back to work is the best medicine
- Chloe O'Brian: I'll be watching you the rest of the shift
- Morris O'Brian: Fine
- Chloe O'Brian: Call your sponsor
- Morris O'Brian: I will
- Milo Pressman: [Taking privately, referring to Morris] he came in and saw me in the infirmary
- Chloe O'Brian: Look, I know his been a little shaky
- Milo Pressman: Has he been drinking?
- Chloe O'Brian: You smelled it on his breath?
- Milo Pressman: Yeah
- Chloe O'Brian: I did too, I already talked to him about it: he didn't metabolize the alcohol
- Milo Pressman: [Confused] he didn't metabolize the alcohol?
- Chloe O'Brian: I know it sounds weird. He took a drink and spit it back out
- Milo Pressman: How do you know?
- Chloe O'Brian: Because he told me
- Milo Pressman: And you believe him?
- Chloe O'Brian: I don't have to believe him, I was married to him. If he was drunk, I would know. His not drunk: his been sober for three years
- Milo Pressman: I didn't know he was an alcoholic
- Chloe O'Brian: Now you know
- Milo Pressman: You don't think Buchanan should know about this?
- Chloe O'Brian: No, if he slips up again, I will personally tell Buchanan. Just leave it for now
- Philip Bauer: I never meant for this to happen, I didn't have a choice. I don't know "how" exactly but Gredenko found out about my role in David Palmer's assassination: he blackmailed me, forced me to cooperate
- Jack Bauer: So it was Gredenko who had you divert some of the bombs the company was responsible for destroying?
- Philip Bauer: He's a radical nationalist, told me he wanted to preserve some of the arsenal, for the day the Soviet Union would be "reestablished." I believed him because I had to
- Jack Bauer: When did you find out he sold the bombs to Fayed?
- Philip Bauer: Not until one of the bombs was detonated in Valencia
- Jack Bauer: That's the truth?
- Philip Bauer: Absolutely, I've been looking for Gredenko ever since: so I could find out what he knew about Fayed to stop all this. I'm a patriot. I never wanted any harm to come to this country
- Jack Bauer: [Yells] you want to lie to yourself? You go ahead but stop lying to me. You let all of this happen just so you can cover up what "you" did
- Philip Bauer: You've always had the smarts Graham never had. You would've handled Gredenko before all of this got out of control. You know, none of this would've happened if you hadn't turned your back on me, so that you can become... what? A civil servant? So, your people will use Gredenko to find this terrorist and the truth will come out of what I've done?
