- Karen Hayes: [while in the Oval Office] CTU is pouring all their resources into finding Cheng and this Executive Order gives them the authority to close all ports and border crossings
- Vice President Noah Daniels: We can't stop migrant workers from crossing our borders: how the hell are we suppose to stop a determined agent?
- Karen Hayes: Well, I think the point is to slow him down Sir so CTU has more time to find him but I agree Cheng will find a way to smuggle out the Russian component "eventually"
- Vice President Noah Daniels: So, then Russia loses its defense to the Chinese, and Moscow blames us?
- Karen Hayes: We will do everything in our power to do that Sir
- Karen Hayes: [after he signs the Executive Order] thank you
- Vice President Noah Daniels: Tom told me about you and Bill: how you had to fire him from CTU, how'd he take it?
- Karen Hayes: Not well
- Vice President Noah Daniels: You and I have had our "difficulties" in the past but I want you to know I value your role here and that I appreciate your "sacrifice"
- Karen Hayes: Thank you
- Vice President Noah Daniels: [after Tom knocks and enters the room] what is it?
- Tom Lennox: The Russian President is calling for you in the teleconference suite: his insisting on a face to face
- Vice President Noah Daniels: [Confused] did he say what he wants?
- Tom Lennox: No, but his on with the heads of military and intelligence services
- Vice President Noah Daniels: [to Karen, referring to her and Tom] I want both you with me on this
- Nadia Yassir: [after he enters her office] I read your request for a transfer out of COMM: is this because you and Chloe had a fight?
- Morris O'Brian: Look, the facts are essentially correct but the "why" I don't see it as being anybody's business
- Nadia Yassir: But you've had a hard day, we've all had. I really need you on the floor, so I'm sorry your request for a transfer is denied
- Morris O'Brian: You're new to the job and I'm just trying to protect you from being caught in the middle of a very awkward professional "situation"
- Nadia Yassir: You're asking me to indulge over a personal melodrama in the middle of an international crisis
- Morris O'Brian: Bill Buchanan said he'd "consider" my request, did he tell you that?
- Nadia Yassir: Bill Buchanan is not running CTU, I am
- Morris O'Brian: Nadia...
- Nadia Yassir: [Interrupts him] go back to your station, keep your personal life to yourself, you can deal with this tomorrow
- Morris O'Brian: Nadia...
- Nadia Yassir: [Interrupts him] we're done here
- Vice President Noah Daniels: [Through video conference after greeting each other and introducing Karen and Tom] how can we help you?
- President Yuri Suvarov: Some very troubling news has been brought to my attention
- Vice President Noah Daniels: What would that be?
- President Yuri Suvarov: The nuclear weapon that fell into terrorist's hands contain proprietary Russian technology that up until now has only been available to only your government and mine
- Vice President Noah Daniels: I'm well aware of that sir
- President Yuri Suvarov: Then you are also "well aware" that an F-B sub circuit board from one of the weapons is now in possession of an agent of the Chinese government: do you deny that sir?
- Vice President Noah Daniels: [Nervously] all I'm prepared to tell you is that we're in control of the situation
- President Yuri Suvarov: My Generals have confirmed that this component contains information that will "compromise" our defensive capabilities: you must stop the Chinese agent from leaving your country with it
- Vice President Noah Daniels: I don't appreciate being "dictated" to. I don't need to remind you that it was Russian General who allowed those nukes to enter the US in the first place. The same Russian General who "conspired" to detonate them
- President Yuri Suvarov: That does not change our "concerns" about this new "development." If you do not intercept this component, my Generals have been instructed to initiate an "appropriate" response
- Vice President Noah Daniels: Mr. President...
- President Yuri Suvarov: [Interrupts him by ending the conference] good night sir
- Chloe O'Brian: [Talking privately] I saw you arguing with Nadia
- Morris O'Brian: Yeah
- Chloe O'Brian: Was that about us?
- Morris O'Brian: I asked her for a transfer: it was denied
- Chloe O'Brian: Why'd you do that?
- Morris O'Brian: Because working with you has become very "uncomfortable"
- Chloe O'Brian: I said I was sorry
- Morris O'Brian: You said I should stop helping terrorists arm nuclear bombs
- Chloe O'Brian: We've both said things that we haven't meant before
- Morris O'Brian: Yeah but there's a line darling and you crossed it
- Chloe O'Brian: So what're you saying?
- Morris O'Brian: I'm saying that it's over: there's no going back, we're done
- Karen Hayes: [Over the phone] the "situation" with the Russians has escalated: they know the Chinese has the component and their threatening military action unless we stop them taking it out of the country
- Nadia Yassir: How did the Russians find out?
- Karen Hayes: A leak: Tom Lennox is looking into it here and he wants you to start an investigation there
- Nadia Yassir: I'll let Internal Affairs know right away
- Karen Hayes: What about Audrey Raines? Did she provide any information that will lead us to Cheng?
- Nadia Yassir: Not yet but the psychiatric specialist from Division just arrived so we're hoping he can get her to talk
- Karen Hayes: Do you have any other leads?
- Nadia Yassir: Not at the moment
- Karen Hayes: That's unfortunate, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is that we stop Cheng, if you need more resources, you need to let me know now. Do you understand?
- Nadia Yassir: I will, one more thing: to be honest, what we need is Bill Buchanan but there's a rumor flying around that you fired him?
- Karen Hayes: Well, that's "complicated"
- Nadia Yassir: Not as far as we're concerned. You know more than anyone how good he is at this job, I don't see how something like this could happen in the middle of a crisis
- Karen Hayes: [Before hanging up] I'm not at liberty to discuss this: just keep me updated with your progress on finding Cheng
- Nadia Yassir: [after introducing Doyle to Bradley] he was involved rescuing Ms. Raines, do you have a diagnosis?
- Doctor Bradley: My preliminary is she is a Type 3 Catatonic: capable of following simple commands or repeating basic words and phrases but otherwise utterly unresponsive
- Nadia Yassir: Do you think we'll be able to get the information we need from her?
- Doctor Bradley: Not within your time frame: not without intervention
- Mike Doyle: What does that mean?
- Doctor Bradley: Ms. Raines is suffering from severe psychological abuse amplified by pharma logical agents as evidenced by more than one hundred injection sites in her arms, feet, and groin. It's going to be next to impossible to communicate with her in the near term unless we essentially try to shock her out of this state
- Mike Doyle: So they used drugs to torture her and you're going to give her more?
- Doctor Bradley: These are different compounds sir, used for different reasons
- Nadia Yassir: What are the risks?
- Doctor Bradley: Twenty two percent of the patients experience cardiovascular events. Some of it are neurological, extreme cases death could occur
- Mike Doyle: [to Nadia] we can't do this
- Doctor Bradley: I am not comfortable with the high percentage of adverse reactions either but this treatment is the only way you're going to get anything out of her in the time frame you have
- Mike Doyle: Maybe not: one of our agents Jack Bauer has a long history with her and the Chinese put him through something similar
- Mike Doyle: [to Nadia] if it makes sense to you, let's see what Jack can draw from her before we do anything riskier
- Nadia Yassir: Doctor?
- Doctor Bradley: I know who Jack Bauer is, I've read Ms. Raines' file on my over and in my opinion contact with her will more likely upset her than encourage her to talk
- Mike Doyle: [to Bradley] but there's no chance of her dying from it
- Mike Doyle: [to Nadia] let's give Jack a chance with her
- Doctor Bradley: With all due respect, it's not your call Ms. Yassir, District has formally placed Ms. Raines in my custody and granted me authority to determine appropriate treatment
- Tom Lennox: [while looking at his report] I think I've identified the "leak" sir
- Vice President Noah Daniels: Is here or CTU?
- Tom Lennox: Very much here sir, I had NSA run a "data sort" on all White House phone calls and emails over the last two and a half hours: that's when we "found out" the sub circuit board was in "play"
- Vice President Noah Daniels: And?
- Tom Lennox: During the same timeframe, one of "our" staffers, called a lobbyist: Mark Bishop three times. Now CIA "flagged" this Bishop two years ago as having "possible to likely" contact with Russian intelligence agents. No further investigation was done, due to "lack of resources"
- Vice President Noah Daniels: Which staffer are we talking about here?
- Tom Lennox: Lisa Miller, sir
- Vice President Noah Daniels: I find it hard to believe she's "working" for the Russians
- Tom Lennox: I don't think she did so "knowingly," she wouldn't have called Bishop from her phone
- Vice President Noah Daniels: I don't understand how this man is getting information from her
- Tom Lennox: Well, so far we have found credit cards records that show Ms. Miller and Bishop staying at the same hotels, on the same nights, several times over the past year, and I think if we "dig" a little deeper, we'll find more evidence that these two are sleeping together
- Vice President Noah Daniels: Then we have a "bigger problem" than you think
- Tom Lennox: Why's that sir?
- Vice President Noah Daniels: Because I'm sleeping with her too: she started working for me two years after my wife Nancy died. I didn't think I'd feel that way for another woman again but Lisa and I became "close" in the last year. We were working late one night, you understand how these "things" happen, what a fool I've been. What the hell do I do?
- Tom Lennox: You know actually sir, handled "correctly", we may be able to turn this situation over to our advantage
- Lisa Miller: What's going on? Why is Tom talking to the Joint Chiefs?
- Vice President Noah Daniels: Because the Russians know the Chinese has the component
- Lisa Miller: How did that happen?
- Vice President Noah Daniels: Someone inside the Beltway's been selling them information: someone with "access." A man named Mark Bishop, do you know him?
- Lisa Miller: I believe his a lobbyist. Are you sure it's Bishop?
- Vice President Noah Daniels: Yes, we began "monitoring" his phone calls as soon as this came to our attention: ten minutes ago he called a known Russian intelligence agency from his cell phone
- Vice President Noah Daniels: [after playing a recording for her of Bishop and his Russian contact] how well do you know this Bishop?
- Lisa Miller: His an " acquaintance" . He consulted on a paper last year on defense spending
- Vice President Noah Daniels: Damn it, don't insult me anymore than you already have. Bishop's been passing intelligence to the Russians that he got from you. I don't know if he read your emails or you talked about it in bed but the Russians know about the component and threatening military action against us if we don't get it back from the Chinese. I always knew you were a good liar, I just didn't think you could lie to me, I guess I thought too highly of myself
- Lisa Miller: I swear to you I didn't know
- Vice President Noah Daniels: [Sternly] it's still treason, which I don't need to remind you is a capital offense: you didn't just betray me, you betrayed your country
- Lisa Miller: What'd you want from me?
- Vice President Noah Daniels: You're going to go back to your "boyfriend", you're going to make him "believe" that we have the component back
- Lisa Miller: I can't do that
- Vice President Noah Daniels: You "can" and you will do exactly what Tom Lennox tells you what to do. Don't even think about trying to expose our "relationship." If you go "there", I'll have you declared an enemy combatant, put you solitary, it'll be years before you speak to anybody about anything
- Jack Bauer: [Surprised to see Heller] you've seen Audrey? I made Audrey a promise to her, I'll make the same promise to you. I will take care of her as long as it takes, I will be there for her
- James Heller: No, you won't
- Jack Bauer: Excuse me?
- James Heller: I don't want you to go anywhere near my daughter "ever" again. Audrey went looking for you and this is how she came back: what happened to her is your fault
- Jack Bauer: I accept that responsibility but I can help her
- James Heller: [Sternly] stay away from her
- Jack Bauer: Earlier I got through to Audrey, I can do the same thing again. I just need some time, please?
- James Heller: I'm warning you: stay away
- James Heller: [Before leaving the interrogation room] You're cursed, whatever you touch, one way or another ends up dead
