A deeper look on our villains and the very first fight with Mumm-ra. Warning: Spoilers
Note: Most of my reviews contain spoilers, but I always try that none of them can actually spoil any important surprise in the story arc. Nevertheless I want to tell you that for this review I am going to say some things that happen further in our history, but they will be in a very general level.

Having had an introduction to our heroes in the last episode (and first), now we get to know our main villains: the Mutants and Mumm-ra. Seeing the things in retrospective, we can notice a two or three interesting details:

1) First we see that these Mutants who will be among the most regular in the series (next to Mumm-ra) are somewhat larger and more developed that other Mutants that we saw in the first episode, which probably means that they are the strongest of each species or something similar.

2)Second, it is also interesting to see how Mumm-ra damages and then makes sink the Mutants' spaceship basically condemning both them and the Thundercats to a life of struggle because now the Mutants (same as the Thundercats) don't have the means to escape the Third Earth. It is very clear actually, in many points of the plot, that the Mutants would have preferred to leave Third Earth if they had had the means to do it, instead of continuing being (more or less) slaves to Mumm-ra. In this sense, the Mutants are victims to Mumm-ra too.

3)Third and most interestingly, we can see right from this episode, how even when Mumm-ra has more power that the Mutants and most other beings in the planet (even when his power is not really his) that he is always trying to make both good and bad guys to make his work for him. It will be a constant during the series having Mumm-ra manipulating people either by force or by deception to make what he wants to be done, as many other villains, he is a king of lies.

4)Also, as a bonus for the Thundercats' fans (or Thunderfans! ho!) we get to see the very first fight of Lion-0 versus Mumm-ra.

-------Before finishing this commentary I want to say something that most children of the 80's including me, complain about: In this first two episodes we can clearly see how Cheetara flirts with Lion-0, but in time, the story writers seem to have overlooked this element or willingly deleted it as the series advanced...Interesting questions as" who will be the next Lord of the Thundercats after Lion-0?" or Has any of our outstandingly wise Thundercats thought that in order to preserve their almost extinct species some of them would have to reproduce? (The story seems to fix things for them in this sense when they find new survivors but nevertheless, its a big cavity in this and many stories that suffered from the stigma of allegedly being just for kids)- ------

Thanks for reading.
