An episode with good shots, tension (especially in THAT scene) and a very interesting color palette, here Light gets serious against L and is totally determined to kill him, and that laugh at the end is really great

In a totally unexpected move L reveals himself to Light in the entrance ceromony in hopes of pressuring Kira. And boy does it work.
Light almost looses it but is able to maintain calm until the end of Ceromony.
But as soon as he reaches home in his room he breaks down saying he has never be so humilated in his life.
The laugh he belts out is truly creepy and even catches Ryuk off gaurd.
You sense Kira being cornered even going as far to say he'd kill L with his owns hand if necessary.

I forgot to comment on the other episode, but I thought it was brilliant that Raye's fiancee noticed the similarities between Light and L. And also about Raye's fiancée, I had never noticed the opening, her holding Raye's dead body. About this episode, it became interesting from the moment L came face to face with Light, before that this episode was pretty boring. It's incredible how arrogant Light is, even in his social life. While this is what is driving him towards his goals and taking him to the top, it can also be what will bring his downfall. I would be very afraid of being in the same room as someone in L's style. I don't know if there is this in the original language, but in the Brazilian dubbing, when Light is in front of someone and doesn't want to show his Machiavellian mind, the voice actor uses a voice more infatilized, more insecure. But when he's alone he uses a deeper voice, and I thought that was brilliant. And what was Light going crazy in his own room at the end of the episode. Episode nine watched on March 5, 2024.
