Good episode, but a major problem in the storyline

Warning: Spoilers
In general, as good a episodes as the others. Have a lot of interesting information and exciting developments. But there is one major problem about the story that drags the vote down a bit.

The statement that crime has fallen due to the death note activities have no base in reality. All investigations shows that increased penalties, death penalty, surveillance and so on, do nothing at all to reduce crime. Most crimes are not thought through before they are done, but happens very quickly in often emotional states. Basically, they happen in states of mind where there is no thoughts of consequence, therefore, the level of consequence or how large the chance of discovery is, have no effect. A simple example, Scandinavia have one of the lowest murder and violence rates in the world, yet, there haven't been criminal death penalties for more than hundred years and it isn't until very recently that street surveillance have been legal. On the other side, a country like the USA has death penalty and extreme surveillance but has the highest incarceration percent in the world. Clearly, things like fear of death or discovery plays no significant role in the level of crime and therefore, the Death Note wouldn't have that effect on society. This fact, and yes, it's a fact that has been proved by countless surveys, eliminates the ethical "dilemma" of the story. You can't in no way gain a safer or better society by killing criminals, not even taking account of different views of a better society.

But besides this, it's still a good episode.

Awesome

Warning: Spoilers
It's incredible how wonderful the Brazilian dubbing is, I remember that the first time I watched it was in the original language a long time ago, when I was a teenager, when I had the patience for things with subtitles. But after watching it dubbed I was even more amazed, it's wonderful. This episode already shows that Light's father is the police chief, which shocked me at the time. It shows some police officers scared (rightfully so) because they are working against Kira, but showing their faces, unlike L. This confrontation between L and Kira already shows how each hour is one step ahead of the other. And finally, Ryuk revealing the differences between a Shinigami and a human that contains the Death Note, and Light being tempted to give a few years of his life for the power of a shinigami. Episode three watched March 5, 2024.
