Bones Witch project
jumbopasatebos12 March 2008
Temperance and Booth deal with the death of a film student , which strangely involves an 18th century witch. They observe some footage shot by the students themselves and then meet with the victim's elder brother who appears to have a lot in common with Temperance. Also, Booth and Dr Saroyan's relationship goes out in the open forcing him to redefine his relationship with Dr Brennan.

This episode is rather predictable and somewhat lacks tension even with the presence of multiple potential criminals. The whole "Blair Witch Project" approach seems nice on paper but could be executed in a much better and satisfying way. It actually looks closer to the first season with supernatural elements that do not fit so well into the main story. But not everything is bad. The chemistry between Booth and Brennan is still running strong and manages to save things up. Also we observe more of Dr Brennan's poor social skills and her obsession about her parent's death. Hodgin's and Angela's relationship also continues to unfold.

In all, a solid episode, though not as good as the rest of the season so far...

I know how to pick 'em!
mitchrmp15 July 2016
A body is discovered in the woods. It soon becomes apparent that a group of young people were making a movie out in the woods using the legend of a headless ghost that goes around slaying people. Several people are held suspects, but in the end both Bones and Booth are hurt over who did it.

Bones is a bit upset when she learns that Booth and Cam are in a relationship. She and Booth have quite an intimate talk about why he didn't tell her. She starts flirting with the idea to get involved with someone involved in the case.

In the end, both Booth and Bones are hurt. Booth wants to give Bones a hug and finally convinces her by saying it's a "guy" hug. But it was anything but...In fact, I wish Cam had walked in right then and seen the embrace...

Another interesting episode with plenty of B&B commentary!

Bones: The Headless Witch in the Woods
Scarecrow-886 September 2010
Warning: Spoilers
This episode of BONES will be a hoot for BLAIR WITCH PROJECT fans(it even features a cameo with Joshua Leonard who was one of the victims in that, here portraying a film professor and producer!)as the Jeffersonian team attempt to uncover the reason behind the brutal murder of a promising film student, Graham(Michael Trevino) during a night where he was filming a faux documentary regarding a group of his friends encountering the terrifying spirit of a witch reputed to haunt the woods. A litany of suspects pop up as the team evaluate a discovered tape with an actual disturbing recording of the student's death and, of course, his decapitated body. Also, Booth and Brennan(David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel)meet the dead student's older brother, while also investigating those who were participants of the footage shot that night. Those there in the wilderness that night all speak emphatically of the witch's presence that night, refusing to return(the student's girlfriend was so shaken, she checked herself into a psych ward!). Developments include a skull found near the crime scene which could link the film professor not to mention the dead student's pal actually stealing Graham's script idea taking credit(it led to a film accepted at Sundance for petesake!). What made this cool for me being a BLAIR WITCH fan is that we actually see the experts looking at the footage uncovered, surprises unveiled by those who can discover evidence we aren't as skilled to see at first glance. It's also cool to see the team unnerved at what is viewed on the footage, and the many similarities to BLAIR WITCH will be certain to bring a smile to the faces of the phenomenon's many fans. Most of all, what is shown on some extra footage puts the icing on the cake. Brennan gets too close to someone(Graham's brother)she identifies with due to his having to raise a brother on his own(she, on the other hand, was orphaned when her brother skipped out on her). What is really neat is how the show does a bang up job aping the movie that inspired this episode, and those screams(and the blood!)from Graham really set an eerie tone for the investigation that follows.

Hey Bones Booth Pod
queen_of_drama-3458610 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Good ep it might as well be called Blair Witch. I agree with Zack it would be wonderful to be able to see someone you've lost like Cam did. My grandmother's father came to her before she even knew he had passed. Psa: Lori if you have to be a "secret girlfriend" because other girls will be jealous you're not the only one. Yes Booth very astute Bones is a woman not a guy. Way to stay focused on the case Bones he is cute but maybe wait until the end of the case so you don't end up kissing a killer. Maggie made me do it? Hmmmm maybe a play for an insanity defense.

Blair Witch Ripoff, but Still Quite Entertaining
Hitchcoc20 January 2023
Just like the aforementioned Blair Witch Project, we have a hand held video camera, catching the events of a murder. Film student are in a spooky woods. Bones has been led to the victim who lies, decomposed in a pit. We are quickly told of a 17th century "witch" who swore revenge, to sever the heads of people. There is a cast of suspects who had possible reasons. One young woman has fried her brain. Another film student may have gotten rid of the competition. The conclusion is sad and interesting. As others have mentioned, we see the further development of Booth and Brennen's unrequited affection. Also, Hodgins and Angela seem to get closer, especially when she is frightened.

GREAT first season - then it's destroyed .
JWViews9 May 2010
I only recently discovered Bones and was delighted with the entire first season. The cast was *wonderful*--every one of them, the originals. The dynamics were superb.

Last night I saw a Season 2 episode and was so disappointed by the cast change, which changed the entire pace, personality and dynamics of the show, that I turned it off.

Now I've read a review of the Headless Witch episode, which is on a local channel today. I see it gets much worse. No thanks.

I wish it wasn't so easy to guess why the beautiful characters of Season 1 had to be destroyed.
