Roadkill, part of Syfy's fan-favorite "Maneater" series, hits DVD this coming August 16th from Rhi Entertainment and Vivendi Entertainment. Read on for a look at the cover art.
Roadkill (review here) revisits the well-used premise of a group of young people heading out for a weekend of fun and partying, only for it to go horribly wrong when they run afoul of backwoods locals. Eliza Bennet (Inkheart, Nanny McPhee), Kacey Barnfield (Resident Evil: Afterlife, Lake Placid 3), and Stephen Rea (V for Vendetta, Citizen X, and Oscar nominated Best Actor for The Crying Game) star in this creature feature from director Johannes Roberts (When Evil Calls, Forest of the Damned) and writer Rick Suvalle ("V.I.P.").
Synopsis:

The Irish-filmed 'Roadkill', a new Syfy TV movie, is set to air on the channel stateside on 23 April at 9:00pm. It stars the gorgeous Kacey Barnfield (below), whom we never get tired of featuring here at the Horror Asylum. Kacey is taking her acting career well into the genre, which we like, with already credits in 'Resident Evil: Afterlife' and the upcoming 'Jabberwocky' under her belt. This isn't her first Syfy TV movie either after having appeared topless and in all her naked glory in gator sequel 'Lake Placid 3' last year. British director Johannes Roberts ('When Evil Calls', 'F') helms the project from a script penned by Rick Suvalle. It stars Stephen Rea ('The Reaping', 'Stuck'), sexy Brit Eliza Bennett ('F'), Colin Maher, Oliver James, Diarmuid Noyes, Ned Dennehy and Eve Macklin. Check out the trailer below....

It comes as no surprise that the trailer for Rhi Entertainment's Roadkill would quickly pop up online once Syfy announced the Stephen Rea-starring monster movie's April 23rd premiere date. More surprising is that this Syfy movie about hit & run, gypsy curses, and a giant bird of prey doesn't look too shabby.
Kate and her brother, Joel, have gathered their five best friends for a scenic Rv road trip to their high school reunion. But their cross-country adventure is about to take an unexpected turn for the worst when an ancient curse takes wing by way of a massive creature. It’s called the Simuroc, and this gigantic bird of prey has found the perfect, helpless quarry in Kate and company. Stranded in the backwoods of the predator’s territory, there’s little chance for escape.
I really don't think the title Roadkill suits a movie with a premise like that.

In the run-up to the release of horror movie, F, we chat to writer and director Johannes Roberts about filmmaking, casting and the concept of Jaws in a school...
The first time Johannes Roberts name first came to my attention was several years ago, when the trailer for his film Forest Of The Damned, was sent to me by a friend under the email heading "Tom Savini vs. naked vampire chicks!", which, obviously, garnered interest.
Not long afterwards he happened to come to my place of work to talk to the students about low budget filmmaking, which is topical, as his latest film, F, is set in an educational establishment and inspired by his experiences of it.
The interview took place a few months ago, before F had been picked up for cinematic distribution, but which now marks his first big screen break. The fil, has since garnered a lot...

Brit director Johannes Roberts made waves in the horror scene a few years back when he created the first Mobile phone series, When Evil Calls. Then in 2007, Roberts worked that series into an extended feature starring Sean Pertwee and Dominique Pinon, which was released by Lionsgate. What he has been working on recently has been a bit of mystery... until now.
His new film is simply titled F (as in the grade) and it looks to be the latest endeavor in Britain's recent wave of what I'm now coining as "hooligan horror" (see Eden Lake). We have received a small synopsis from Roberts, but I can't help but wonder if it will be a revenge movie where a humiliated teacher exacts some justice and hands out fails to all of his rowdy pupils. That would be sweet.
