In the scene where Stanley, Jake and the older man are stalking the turkeys, Jake indicates the birds to the old man, who then puts his finger on the trigger of his shotgun. The camera cuts to Jake, and when it cuts back to the older man, his finger is straight outside the trigger guard.
When Jake tells about seeing the planes, he tells the others that the fighters were MiG-19s, and the others looked like Antonovs. The fighters were definitely not MiG-19s, but Swedish SAAB-37 Viggens. The Chinese never had anything like that. The other aircraft were C-130 Hercules cargo planes which may be confused with a Russian An-26 from a distance, but a military veteran wouldn't make such a mistake because the Hercules has four engines and the An-26 has only two.
