Great series

Warning: Spoilers
Luv the series,

all the main characters were good looking and could actually act. Han chae Young shined our screen as the delightful choon hyang, i thought she was great along with jae hee's character.

also eumtae woong was great as the antagonist of the show. The father of moon ryong was really funny and added to the show's credibility. my only complaint is that it dragged on a bit towards the end. Anyone that watches the show will love Moon-Ryong, as he is such a lovable character with the funiet face expressions. Recommend this show to anyone that love Korean Drama with romance and comedy genre

Delightful couple but the second leads impede them too much...
fprefect-685-28108422 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The 2005 kdrama, Delightful Girl Chun-hyang, was written by the Hong Sisters, prolific rom-com writers (2008 Hong Gil Dong, 2009 You're Beautiful, 2010 My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho, 2012 Big, etc.). Delightful Girl Chun-hyang was their first series.

Chun-hyang is a high school student that parents her Mother, has part- time jobs, while maintaining her status as the smartest student in the high school. Mong-ryong is rich, spoiled, and the new kid in high school. This young couple ends up in sticky situation and get married. Their friendship grows into love but they never admit it at to each other when the other is ready to hear it. I found the couple fun to watch but the second leads impede them too much, a standard plot device for these writers which has downgraded my opinion of their several of their series.

What I like about Delightful Girl Chun-hyang:

1. Mong-ryong our male lead played by Jae Hee evolves over this series from a fight-loving self-centered boy to a responsible man. He shows his love for Chun-hyang in many ways but she always doubts him.

2. Mong-ryong's father played by Suk-hwan was the best father-in-law. He understood his son's shortcomings and supported Chun-hyang rightly believing that she could change his son from being a slacker into an responsible man.

3.Mong-ryong's best friend played by Moon Ji-yoon. He was steadfast and true in his friendship of Mong-ryong and Chun-hyang.

What I didn't like about Delightful Girl Chun-hyang:

1. Female second lead Hong Chae-rin played by Park Si-eun got on my nerves. She is Mong-ryong's first love. In the first half of the drama She persistently interferes with the relationship to make them break up.

2. Male second lead Hak-do played by Uhm Tae-woong got on my nerves in the second half of the drama. Initially, he helps Chun-hyang but becomes obsessed with her. He succeeds in separating the couple for an extended period.

Sassy Girl Chun-Hyang Rocks!
Mercury7JG14 December 2006
I was hooked to this show from series beginning until end. Han Chae Young and Jae Hee (Lee Hyun Kyun) the actors who play Chun-Hyang and Mong-Ryong have great chemistry together. The "villianous" Mr. Byun is a fascinating character that you can tell he may be a decent guy, but his infatuation for Chun-Hyang has completely cloud his judgment. This series is one of my favorites ever, it had me laughing, crying, smiling, and screaming at my TV screen in almost every episode. The range of emotions I went through, and my attachment to the characters especially Chun-Hyang, Mong-Ryong, and Mong-Ryong's father kept me in the great catch 22 of every good series, I had to keep watching because I needed to know what happened, but it was so enjoyable that I didn't want it to end.

Delightful Girl Choon Hyang Rocks - Must Watch
ghajiniblue3 January 2010
What can I say? it's one of my favorite Drama. It has everything: love, romance, action, sorrow, and happiness. hero & heroine of this film have wonderful chemistry together, and it shows. It makes you feel like you want to become a better person, and not be so selfish, self-centered, and makes you realize that there more important things in life.

This drama is so indescribable and unique.I have seen it many times. I will admit that I am a hopeless romantic and I love to watch these types of movies.

I think that it is so romantic and so beautiful and i think that the movie was made very well

Great Korean Drama - Romantic Comedy - Roller Coaster Ride
gray_kitty28 May 2007
Warning: Spoilers
If you know Kdramas you will know they are full of clichés.. This is no different. However this series is so lovable and addictive (I was up 30 hours to finish all 17 episodes).. that you may be willing to forgive the clichés and occasional corny moments. I've watched Goong, My Girl, Hana Yori Dango etc.. all of them contained almost similar story but this series gives you a feel good moment after it ends..

The story starts with Mong-Ryong a high school trouble maker and a bratty son of local police chief who moved from Seoul to Namwon and Chun-Hyang who is the smartest student in school lives with her windowed mother. In order to support her impoverish family she is holding several jobs. In an unfortunate event she met with MR and they became instant enemies. However when she got sick thanks to MR, he went to visit her and accidentally got drunk drinking CH's mother's wine mistaken as juice. MR ends up sharing the room with CH. This led to series of rumors and scandals in their school. In order to find a solution, both parents decided to an arrange marriage between CH and MR. However MR is in love with his neighbor girl in Seoul Chae-Rin. But after being rejected by CR he agreed to the marriage and CH and MR got married. This is where the story picks up. There's another guy Hak-do who is a powerful CEO of an entertainment company fighting for CH's affection and doesn't mind turning evil. When CR comes back to MR, the couple's marriage is put to the test.

One thing I liked most about the series is the comical relief they have end of each episodes regarding their past life as the legendary Chun-Hyang and Mong-Ryong. Also through out the series you will see parodies of different movies and K-dramas, such as the Matrix, Full House, I'm sorry I love you, Damo etc. However the annoying part was the cinematography, the camera was too close to the people's faces that I could see every single of their wrinkles.

Overall acting was OK.. Jae Hee did an excellent job acting. I don't speak Korean, even I understood what's going on based on his facial expression. Han Hae Young wasn't very good but her character was so lovable that I was willing to let that go. Overall the series is worth giving 10 points just for the storyline alone. Although it's not a highly promoted and big budgeted series like Goong or My Girl but it sure carries some punches. I'd pick this series out of those any day.

The Real Sassy Girl

The silliness and the chaotic descension of old rom-coms remains unmatched. The improbable setup of their story was stretched too thin but it worked with their abrasive behavior. I found the highschool arc to be tolerable despite having the infamous "theater" episode trope just like most school themed media. The leads were a bit old to be passed as highschoolers but at least they switched the setting shortly after. The main conflict lasted for too long and the drama tried to take more serious tone during it which wasn't fitting for the story or the characters. This also forced the ending to be really short and quick. The main soundtrack with vocals was quite good. On the other hand, there's a certain type of soundtrack that always accompany Uhm Tae Woong across different dramas and I can't figure out how or why?
