Slap Bet (#2.9)
ComedyFan201012 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is about Robin and we get to know more about her and her Canadian past.

They did it very well by making us believe those are the most common shocking secrets for a sitcom such as a previous marriage or porn, but then we find out it might have been even worse!.

And the result is absolutely hilarious. Robin was a teen pop star with a hit about the mall! The video we get to watch is impossible to watch without laughing. Too bad thy went for the 80's theme and not 90's (even they could explain the reason for it very well). But then even though I would love to see 90's being made fun of, 80's did have much crazier outfits that made it an even easier joke.

The slap bet is a good addition. It was fun to observe and the fact that there are 4 more slaps left is a good thing, I am looking forward to further jokes about this.

One Of The Best Episodes

Plot In A Paragraph: Robins secret hatred of the mall is revealed and when she won't say why it gets everyone interested. Ted is drove mad by his girlfriends secret and Marshall and Barney have a slap bet (With Lily being slap bet commissioner) over who is right. Marshall thinks she is hiding a secret marriage where she got married at a mall, whilst Barney naturally thinks a little darker and smuttier and thinks she is a porn star.

This is one of my favourite episodes Once again Neil Patrick Harris is central to the story and brings most of the laughs and Alyson Hannigan and Jason Segel also excellent again too!! They are quickly becoming my favourites behind NPH.

Special mention may go to Cobie Smulders in this episode too.

As someone who is watching this series for the first time, this is one of the best episodes that I've seen so far.

Very funny jokes, but I don't want to spoil that for you.

Rating: 9/10.

The epitome of HIMYM
dannytsoto9 May 2023
This episode displays this show at its best and has the funniest moments of the entire series. From Marshall and Barney slapping each other as hard as possible to the twist ending at the end of the episode, there was not a single dull moment in this episode. Additionally, this is where the most iconic running jokes of the series came from.

Overall, I would give this episode a 10/10 because there is not a single episode that is funnier than this. While not much happened that drove the plot forward, it was overall a good time and I can definitely guarantee that you will laugh at this absolute classic episode that would ultimately come to define the show.

Top 10 all time!! An ending that comes out of nowhere!

Warning: Spoilers
Barney and Marshall slapping each other silly as part of a bet they made is just one part of what makes this a classic episode. But it's the ending -- that big twist at the end that comes out of nowhere which seals the deal. The most amazing thing is the song was cute and well written and produced. The video was creative and funny. Love how the robot appears out of nowhere. The actress who plays Robin really sells it as an MTV artist. Lol. By far the best ending to any HIMYM episodes!

Best Episode
carnahanestelle22 June 2023
The funniest episode of the whole show, I've always loved the Robin sparkles episodes but this one is the best of all of them. All of the actors are acting their best, Robin is hilarious and above all, this episode starts the epic slap bet that will haunt Barney for years to come. Everyone's funny in this episode, in most episodes there's one character that gets on my nerves more than another one, and in this episode there just wasn't one that was more annoying than the rest. Marshall annoys me sometimes, but the slap bet was a really funny plot for him, and I love the song portion of the episode, it's the most hilarious thing I've ever seen. So like I said, best episode.
