Based on True Oklahoma Story
bryan-47431 August 2008
Although the producers added their own twists to this story, it is based on the Oklahoma case of Randy Dial who allegedly kidnapped a prison warden's wife, Bobby Parker. The case may never be completely solved as many feel strongly that Bobby ran away with her supposed captor, and wasn't kidnapped. Dial and Parker played cat and mouse with the police until they were finally caught in Canter, Texas. Their case was profiled on America's Most Wanted for years until they were finally found. Dial died in 2007 of terminal health problems. Bobby Parker still maintains she was kidnapped and no formal charges have been filed.

This movie is exciting for a TV movie based loosely on real life.

A Wonderful Love Story
kupcr3 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
When you get into this movie, it looks like a woman is being pursued through the woods, until you realize that they are US Marshals chasing her, so they demand to know where 'he' is. The movie at this point doesn't tell you whether she's the one who was abducted or 'he' was, but I gave the movie a chance. We also find out that this woman's name is Melanie Stone, actress Sarah Wynter, and she's the wife of a Washington State prison warden named Tom and he wants to be mayor.

Although Tom, Eric Brewer, is very controlling and not really loving, Melanie affects his image by everything she does, since she has 2 jobs and one of them is a swimming instructor, but Tom is having an affair with Paula.

Jack Carlson, Andrew Walker, is one of the prison inmates and is 2 years into a 16 year sentence...

I shouldn't have to tell you anything else about this movie, apart from the point that you may know what will happen and about halfway through the movie, everything changes. It's no longer the same. It's actually quite good from that point on and the actor playing Tom has a lot in range in his performance. All the actors lines are well-written and the characters seem to be quite intelligent and capable just based on that. The actress that plays Melanie shines!!!

Fun little flick
glphil22 August 2021
I thought it was pretty good for a low budget flick. Enough twists and turns to keep it interesting. Some of the acting was questionable, but I thought the main actors were fine. For what it is, it was good.

Be patient; it gets better
vchimpanzee28 May 2009
At the start of the movie, a pretty blonde woman is being chased through the woods by U.S. Marshals, who demand to know where "he" is. Wait a minute: the title of the movie is "Abducted" (at least it was when I saw it)--does this mean that SHE abducted HIM? Usually it's the other way around.

Melanie Stone has been married for 8 years to Washington State prison warden Tom, who is running for mayor and later governor. He is very controlling and not particularly loving, and anything Melanie does affects his image. And Tom seems to be spending a lot of time with campaign manager Paula, dark-haired, beautiful (Melanie is merely pretty) and intelligent.

Melanie has two jobs at the prison: teaching GED classes, and running a farm. She used to be a swim coach (that means we get to see teenage girls in swimsuits), but her friend Amy has taken over that job.

Jack Carlson has gotten into yet another fight. He is two years into a 16-year sentence, but Tom warns him that if that behavior continues, that could be a life sentence instead. Tom assigns Jack to a work furlough--at the farm Melanie runs.

Do I have to tell you anything else? Actually, I do. While you may think you know what will happen at this point, about halfway through the movie, everything changes. It's no longer the same movie. It's actually quite good from that point on. Okay, it's good with Melanie or Jack or both on screen. And even the actor playing Tom has more range in his performance. The actors playing the top U.S. Marshals seem like they're sitting around the table reading the lines for the first time, or perhaps auditioning and being told "Thanks, we'll be in touch." Their lines are well-written, though, and the characters seem to be quite intelligent and capable just based on that.

It's actually pretty exciting.

Shaky but very watchable
davyd-0223723 July 2021
For a B Movie with a cast that I had not come across previously, this begins with a blonde woman running through a woodland and goes from there. What follows is something of an interesting B film about a corrupt official and antics that the individual is up to. There are some "low lifes" in this and they are not the folks you might think. Well worth watching.

Sex appeal isn't everything.
timmoss-2638710 February 2022
Other reviews have, quite rightly, noted how sexy Andrew Walker is,but the film offers a little bit more than that.

The story is engrossing,(based as it is on a true one),and most of the cast play well.

Ok,it's not a masterpiece, but entertaining just the same and well worth a look...and not just for Walker's pecs.

Had potential, but...
cjwilkerson-6230819 April 2021
I looked up reviews after watching, and the convenience, bad acting, and short resolution make sense. It was a lifetime movie.

It had a lot of potential, but did not deliver entirely. The ending was super convenient and anti climactic. If you're looking for a love story, here it is. If you're looking for more of a thriller, go elsewhere.

Pretty awful
JosiReviews29 August 2020
No shame, this movie is full of bad acting, poor dialogue and a predictable plotline, but I overlooked that all and pushed through because he is pure eye candy.

Victims of Circumstances: Abducted****
edwagreen27 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
What a plot! A woman discovers that her husband, a warden who is running for mayor, has been carrying on with his female campaign adviser. Our "candidate" attempts to elicit the support of a convicted killer to abduct and then murder his wife. Turns out that the guy he has lined up for the job is a victim as well. His wife and her lover, his best friend, framed him for the murder of someone who actually is not dead.

There is non-stop action within these great plot twists.

The movie also shows how the media can be manipulated and that the police force has a good sense to see an affair in bloom when they are surrounded by it.

Strange kind of prison for felons
johnhsmith-000564 December 2022
I didn't realize there were prisons holding convicted murderers that allowed them to mingle with beautiful women while they were on work details, or that you only need to drive past one fence to get out of such a facility.

This movie is above porn quality standards, but not by a lot. It does have some twists and turns and very brief nudity. It's enjoyable enough to watch if you don't take it seriously. The primary actor, Andrew W. Walker, looks a little too young and clean cut for the role.

Apparently its based on a true story but it only superficially resembles the actual story (about Randolph Franklin Dial and Bobbi Parker). This film has more of a happy ending than that one.

Warning: Spoilers
this movie is GREAT! i loved it. i wish i would have recorded it and keep looking on lifetime's website to see when they plan to show it again. i loved it! i loved that her husband planned on carlson killing her, but he didn't and they fell in love. i loved the whole thing. i had never heard of it before may 2 when it aired and i can NOT wait for it to air again. his "campaign manager" made me want to BARF! when her hubby told her that she couldn't be in her best friends wedding, i was devastated. but when amy's husband played the tape at hubby's interview...i laughed and laughed. did you see the looks on his face as well as "campaign manager?" lol i guess he wasn't able to run for mayor, was he? hehehe

If you're in the mood for some brain candy...
juneebuggy16 November 2014
This watches a bit like a Harlequin romance (although apparently based on a true story) So along those lines, if you're in the mood for a little brain candy then it's pretty good.

The story follows a prison wardens wife who is kidnapped and the -of course (wrongly convicted) prisoner claims he did it to save her. She eventually becomes romantically involved with her captor after the truth is revealed and tries to help him clear his name

I honestly can't believe that this is a true story, it had such a romance novel feel to it. Anyways while clichéd its not terrible, there are some good love scenes, the husband is unscrupulous and the FBI tracking them in their little van provide some comic relief. 01.19.14

I really tried to get in to this film but....
TSylvie131 August 2008
Warning: Spoilers
It's like a bad soft-porn movie but you don't even get the porn! The two main characters ARE attractive (another point; why on earth would the husband want to get rid of Melanie? She's smart and pretty, doesn't make sense) but the dialog is pretty ridiculous and all the characters seem to be total half-wits - like I said; kinda like a soft-porn movie. It's like, I WANT the convict to get caught and Melanie to be subjected to lifetime of marriage with the beyond creepy husband. Shame...it totally missed as potentially entertaining 'guilty pleasure'. What's interesting is the main character, Sarah Wynter, is actually a decent actress but as in this case it goes to show that talent can't always withstand sloppy directing.

Addendum: Okay, I'll concede that I may have been a bit rash above. It's more like having a Twinkie; it's pretty crap but you find you can't stop eating it :).

Bad acting, decent plot
Jackieeeee9329 October 2020
The acting is laughable. But the main character is very easy on the eyes. He was the best part of the movie and you can't help but root for him to succeed throughout the movie. Just don't have high expectations or you'll be disappointed. Acting is almost soap opera bad.
