Sir Ian McKellen
Prismark1015 October 2019
With Andy's sitcom being continually lambasted by the critics. Andy decides the play's the thing and he wants to show off his acting chops in the theatre.

Darren gets Andy a part in a play to be directed by Sir Ian McKellen. Only to Andy's dismay, this romantic play features a same sex gay relationship.

Andy is uncomfortable being involved in a gay play. It gets worse on the opening night, his old school friends arrive. Steve Sherwood never had issues in pulling the ladies and Andy resented being called gay by him. Now they will all see Andy being romantic with another man in a gay play.

Jonathan Cake plays the babe magnet Steve, the old school friend of Andy. I really liked how he played it straight especially when Andy's camp old pal Bunny showed up. I think Cake outshone the guest star Ian McKellen.

Both Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant turned up the dial in the embarrassing squirm factor regarding straight actors playing gay parts and being seen by family and friends.

Darren gets his own embarrassing mishap when he invites Maggie to his home for dinner.
