To be as brutally honest as possible, I came across this movie when searching for the New Girl television series. When I saw that this was a thing, my first thought was, "maybe the TV show is a remake of this!"
I could not have been more wrong.
This movie can come at you in different times in different lifetimes, but there is only one of a movie like this. As a famous producer I cannot remember the name of once said, "Cinema is a buffet. When you create your movie, you happen to pick the food you are interested in. Every movie is a mix of another, and no two movies are the same." Going off of this metaphor, it's easy to notice how this movie ignored that. It went right to the end of the line, where they put the cold Mac and Cheese, the expired Root Beer, and the jelly that seems like it should be red but is green. No two parts of this movie are the same, and it does not blend well as all.
Moving on to the pacing of the movie, it falls flat just about 90% of the time. One scene will feature a character, and when they show up again, it's almost as though the character ignored every piece of character development from the last scene. If you keep up with me on this, you notice that character development is a dismal, and the writing doesn't do anything to support it.
Also they die in the end. I don't want to write this anymore, and I didn't even see the movie. Watch A Dog's Journey when it comes out in theaters this Friday, May 17th.
