Tiger is most dangerous when is wo...men .
pkpera8 March 2008
Italian director, Hungarian main actress, pretty bad English (undubbed).

Filmed in Shanghai mostly, and some shots of city are best part of this 'creation'.

Story doesn't deserve any attention: it is just stolen from some other, higher grade movies (this should be some D-grade).

So, we have attractive female assassin, another attractive female, some love, some sex/nudity, some twist, shooting and extremely miserable fight scenes - because main actress has no clue about kung fu, all scenes were cut to milliseconds and shot from very close - to see only hand (leg) and target of punch - pih...

Spoiler alert: ! (sic)

End is as original as whole movie: happy end at pool under bright sun :-)

Little action with little acting. Not at all what the description implies
alex021485-127 December 2008
At first glance (the cover) You will expect an action packed martial arts movie with sword fighting. In all honesty this could not be further from the truth.

The acting is poor and the scenery is nothing you have not seen before. As far as the martial arts goes (the little that there is), It should have been left out of the movie all together.

As previously stated, It is obvious that the lead actress has no clue what she is doing and few fight scenes were filmed terribly. Selena Khoo, who plays the part of Lin is probably the best actor in this movie and that is not saying much.

I believe this film relies entirely on on the attractiveness of the actresses and their willingness to appear nude on camera. While this may be what some are looking for it is not what I was looking for upon selecting this title.

There is a lot of "Broken English" but this does not bother me though I could see how it would bother some.

In short, The MPAA rating of this movie gives a better description of what you will get than anything else. This movie is nothing more to me than a poorly written and filmed fantasy adult soft-core.

This film is not even a "b-movie"

Why was this movie made?
refdan11 June 2008
I obtained this movie because I am a fan of femme fatale type characters, beautiful women who are also evil. The premise of this film is interesting, but the performances and action sequences are the worst I have seen since Wonder Woman.

The dialog is very lame and the actors are obviously uncomfortable with the English language. The main character is portrayed as an assassin, equally skilled with a rifle or with her body, but she fails to sell either to the viewers. There is no suspense or build-up. Everything is so predictable and the end most unsatisfying.

It seems that this is a weak attempt to copy successful Hong Kong female assassin films. It fails miserably on all accounts. The Chinese really know how to make these types of movies. Check out "Beyond Hypothermia" if you want to see what I mean.

I heartily encourage you lovers of assassin flicks to avoid this one, unless you can get it for free, and even then only if you have nothing else to do.

An ode to money well lost.
yarik835 April 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I would like to know what in the world compels so many movie producing companies to keep producing very low budget and more importantly very cheesy early 1980's like movies in 21st century that failed to deliver even when 1980's movies were as good as you could get back in 1980?! Skip what this movie is about and think of all the ways you should not watch it. Yes yes you fell for the cover of the DVD while walking through blockbuster... you saw this pretty female and a katana.. on the back it said blah blah female assassins and behold there you were trying to watch first 20 minutes of the movie and finally turning it off because you could not watch it anymore. So what made this movie cheesy? Perhaps its really poor dialogue or perhaps its really cheasy setting that practically gives it away. I mean common for a movie that was released in 2007 her method of communication with her employer is done through contact means that were the "buzz" in late seventies back when computers were still a mystery and watching text on a primitive screen was considered high tech. Perhaps its the fact that when you do watch a movie its like watching thousands of same type movies though the years only this time around you would rather swallow razor blades than try to understand why a movie like this vs another movie with similar type budget is boring to watch. Is it because they probably spent 90 percent of their budget on pay checks? Is it because other countries (cough china, Korea etc)simply know how to make a really good low budget movie? Sigh.. good thing that I always rent 2 movies at a time.

Khoo cares about this mess?
kimberlymhn17 March 2008
Warning: Spoilers
'Two Tigers' is a sadly flawed movie which is crippled from the outset by the poor script and hideous acting from the two female leads. Neither Selena Khoo or Andrea Osvart is speaking their native tongue, but one wonders if they would look any better if they were. The movie concerns a crack female assassin Gilda (Osvart) who is sent on a mission to kill an Arabic businessman. On arrival she notices that the woman in the opposite apartment is a prostitute Lin (Khoo). After helping her fight off some heavies with some of the most ponderous and inept martial arts moves ever seen, the two become friends. But alas, her handlers order her to kill an expatriate Frenchman and his lover, who happens to be Lin. 'Two Tigers' cannot seem to make up it's mind whether it is a drama studying females whose lives are governed by men or a straight action picture. It fails as drama because nobody in the film can act. In Ms Khoo's lengthy (and obviously self penned) resume, she claims that she returned from Hollywood due to a lack of good roles for Asian women. The truth is more likely that she couldn't get any work because she is a terrible actress incapable of delivering any of her lines convincingly. Khoo only looks good on screen when she's silently posing in various states of undress, but she instantly looks years older the second she pulls any kind of facial expression. She claims to be 29, yet she did undoubled nude scenes with Robert Patrick in the Albert Pyun movie 'Hong Kong '97' which was made in 1994. So according to her she was 15 or 16 when she did the Pyun movie – something which I find hard to believe. Osvart fails to be convincing in her role as an assassin, and here is the other glaring fault of the movie – the 'action' is appallingly executed. Gilda's two 'hits' are done with absolutely no sense of tension or excitement as. she turns up, takes aim, kills and leaves. Even worse are the 'martial arts' scenes, where the bad guys crumple from the lamest looking kicks and punches imaginable. There is a scene at Lin's dojo where a line of students watch in fake awe as Lin and then Gilda demonstrate their pathetic martial arts 'skills' and the script adds even more contempt for the audience by having Lin asking Gilda 'what Dan are you'? I honestly have seen better fight choreography from teenagers goofing around on youtube than from the inept producers of 'Two Tigers' Unless you find the characters pleasant to look at, there is nothing to recommend in 'Two Tigers'. It seems that the producers obviously went with the old Godard line that all you need is a girl and a gun, but forgot that you also need a little talent behind and in front of the camera.

You guys are being much too hard on this film
JoeB13131 May 2009
I actually kind of enjoyed this film. Okay, the acting wasn't great, and the two women's accents got in the way of the story telling. But I thought the story was kind of interesting and I'd have liked to have seen this done with actresses who were better in English. there were some underdeveloped characters (the private detective hunting the assassin was totally unneeded to the plot, IMHO).

It's not your over the top Hollywood action film, which would have involved tons of car chases. I also respect the fact that it was pretty explicit in the sex. (Americans have become such wusses in this area, even R-rated movies don't have sex scenes anymore.)

Bland and confused
sharok7 June 2008
Frankly put, I spent half the film wondering if it was a porno or not. Gratuitous skin scenes that bring nothing neither to the plot nor to the action make for a drawn-out movie that drastically dilutes whatever "action" was supposed to be there. As has already been noted, the fight scenes are nothing to phone home about, although I did find that the dojo scene was slightly better thought-out than the rest of the film. For the rest, the action is quite lacking. No planning before hand, no surprise in execution, no problem with the getaway, and a very lame showing of local mafia add up to nothing to get excited about. Add to that the school-level camera angles, bad pronunciation all around and a total absence of any sort of anticipation and what you get is a porno film - without the hardcore sex. The single redeeming feature of this mess is Mrs. Osvart's body. Fine though it is, it's hardly enough to carry a film.

pretty neat and very entertaining
hbraun25 September 2009
I really enjoyed this movie.

Before I watched it, I had checked the IMDb score and some user comments, and already thought to simply return the DVD to the public library. Glad I did't. This is a really neat little film.

In many respects nothing special, the first thing I was wondering about was the strange English. But as one of the main characters is Hungarian (in the film and for real), and some of the others Chinese (?), this made perfect sense. There are more obvious flaws, but I did not really care. The film does not pretend to be more ambitious and flashy than it is. And transcends itself somehow, party through some sort of understatement, partly through flowing very smoothly.

I have to admit that I liked the two main characters, perhaps not great actors, but believable as real individuals. And of course pretty erotic, also in a very understated way. Temporary nakedness as something natural. The two quickly established a beautiful relationship, that might be called kitschy. But so what? I guess women might like the film as well, since the male characters are quite ridiculous, although also in a quite normal way.

And a nice happy end. Really very kitschy, but perfectly suitable to this carefully-made and quite detail-rich permutation of a trivial movie theme.

Missing from the equation
fallendisciple14 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Okay I admit I didn't look it over much before popping the DVD in and pressing play. The premise alone said cheesy to me. So no big surprise to me many of the elements being written as negatives here so far. I was not thrown by accents. If you have gone to Boston to Shanghai from Hungary..unlikely but whatever. Whenever I'm in Shanghai there's some broken English going on...No the acting won't get any Oscar nods...That gratuitous ending poolside scene...oy! I still had a decent time...kinda like a date with a woman I probably won't be calling again... but final word is: who did the music? It was by far the most inspiring part of this film. I'm holding on to this DVD for the music alone. I won't argue any of the comments previously made but no one has mentioned the soundtrack and I thought it some good work. Unusual a bit haunting in parts. Have I played this without watching it for the music alone? ..yea.

Terrible, awful movie
savethepandas876 March 2008
Wow, this movie is horrendous. It was made in collaboration between the Italians and the Chinese and it doesn't seem like they got any of the casting right either. The main Asian girl in the film can't even speak correct Mandarin and the acting throughout the movie is just terrible. Please save yourself the time and go watch a better movie. The lines written for the movie are really cheesy and cliché and half the time I just skipped through the talking, especially when the Asian girl tried to speak in Mandarin. I think the whole point of them making the movie was so they could make a movie that contained female nudity and some sex scenes. The cinematography for this movie looks amateurish at best. The budget must have been like $10,000 or something since the shooting scenes looked really fake. There is a hilarious scene where the girl is stripping and the dude is sweating like crazy because he's probably never seen a naked girl.

My Kind of Movie, Loved It
jimadam10 November 2009
These comments pertain to home video only, as I continue to prefer the big stuff in theaters.

After plowing through Watchmen today and Beowolf yesterday, I really appreciated this movie, as one would appreciate a Burger King whooper. Sure, it is a brainless junk movie, but I like watching the action babes and Andrea Osvart is one hot babe.

I am really tired of bloated big budget confusing movies seemingly with just big special effects and fight scenes comprised of stupid wire work.

Action scenes are limited as are the fight scenes, but at least they are real looking. Mostly, the movie is all about following Ms. Osvart around as she goes about her assassin job. And I will follow her anywhere. Also, the music and Shanghai are highlights, as mentioned by other reviewers.

Let's not take this movie seriously because an assassin should be someone who is very ordinary looking and very forgettable. One final reason to like this movie, is no one has named it the worst movie ever made, yet.
