Going, Going, Gone!
ccthemovieman-116 December 2008
Warning: Spoilers
You have to give this program "A" for originality. It's amazing how many strange cases they come up with to make an episode. In this one, we have identical twins - who never met - getting killed within two hours of each other one night.

One of them is an apparent suicide but even a dimwit like me could figure out that wasn't really the case. Sure enough, late in the show we find out someone murdered her. The question is: did the same guy kill both women?

Don't try to guess who the killer is, because this is one of those shows in which the murderer (s) aren't seen until the final minutes. It's sort of unfair for the viewers, but what are ya gonna do? At least the show was interesting and had some little subplot-like stories such as doctoring newspaper photos.

Playing the twins, which had very little dialog and had supernatural connections through habits, was Joanna Going. Boy, there was a name I was familiar with as she had a role of Wyatt Earp's girlfriend-turned-wife in one of my favorite western movies of all time, Kevin Costner's "Wyatt Earp" (1994). Going is now 45 years old and still looks very beautiful.

Dynamic Duo
Hitchcoc13 February 2021
Two beautiful women die on the same night. One is shot in cold blood and the other an apparent suicide. It turns out they are identical twins who were adopted and had never met. No it's up to the gang to look at each of them separately and determine what in their background would lead to such ends. This is clever and engaging.

The Twin Sisters
claudio_carvalho12 February 2023
Two twin sisters are found dead in opposite sides of Las Vegas. Amanda Sinclair is shot to death outside a dry cleaner. David Phillips and Catherine are in the crime scene and Catherine identifies the woman by her Lexus car and does not find her purse. Nick verifies the nearby dumpsters and finds her purse and the stocking used by the killer. Nick finds also a short letter from "Dora". Grissom and Warrick investigate the death of the Chief-Editor of a newspaper Jill Case, who apparently committed suicide hanging herself from the second floor. Warrick sees pictures of Jill with Nelson Mandela and Bill Clinton and notes that she has no children. Soon Dr. Robbins realizes that Amanda and Jill are identical twins. Catherine believes the cases are related, but Grissom is not sure. They begin to interview Amanda's husband Gary and Dora Pomerantz, whose fingerprints are on the envelope in the purse retrieved by Nick. Dora tells that she is the biological mother of the twins and she put them up to adoption after the death of their father in Vietnam. They proceed their investigation to find the motive and the killer of the women.

"Happenstance" is a mysterious and engaging episode of "CSI", with the death of twin sisters that do not know each other. The investigation of the team is top-notch and the reason why the killer murdered both sisters is an amazing coincidence. My vote is seven.

A badly written confusing episode
interestingstuff4 March 2022
This is a super confusing and badly written episode and the whole thing makes no sense. There are far too many characters doing and saying different things with 50 different moving parts and it's impossible to even keep track of who is who let alone figure out what the heck is going on. Low effort writing and bad acting all over this episode.

For some weird reason CSI writers had this idea on their head that the more confusing and weirder an episode is, the better it is but not really. People just want to relax and enjoy a TV show, not become a detective and try to figure out an extremely badly written story which doesn't even make any sense. This is one of those "filler" episodes of CSI, which there are about 200-250.
