The show was originally titled "Whiskey Tango". But a band with the same name already owned the merchandising rights for the name. The main characters were going to be a group of superheroes called Whiskey Tango Six. The creators then came up with the phrase "Frisky Dingo" as Killface's taunt to the Whiskey Tango Six and it became the new title. The Whiskey Tango Six characters were dropped during pre-production but the title stuck.
Some of its characters are meant to look like real-life employees of Williams Street, one of the show's production companies.
A third season was in development, but in the absence of a renewal contract from Adult Swim, pre-production ceased.
A spin-off show, The Xtacles, premiered on November 9, 2008, but only two episodes were aired prior to the production company's closure.
The production company, 70/30 Productions, subsequently went out of business in January 2009.
