I’m 38-years-old and I can safely say if you put a bed in front of me and give me 10 minutes I can fall asleep at any time of day and in nearly any setting. What it’ll be like when I’m in my 70s or even 80s is something I cannot even fathom. I mention this because imagine being an old man and having to see through an experience similar to what I can only compare to a Dmv meeting. The President of Zimbabwe has been in the news lately because he was caught sleeping at United Nations meetings. According

Laura Mvula has always had an emotional connection to Mary Poppins: singing lullaby Stay Awake with her brother and sister when they were kids inspired her to make music. But how does science interpret the effects of music and memory on the brain? We took her to the Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience Lab in the Ear Institute at Ucl where Dr Maria Chait and Dr Ulrich Pomper designed an experiment to find out.

(The movie which can be summed up as "Stay awake, stay awake, stay awake, Whoa!!!) One cannot help but wonder what would happen if Japanese director Oshii Mamuro would ever decide to make a straightforward action film. Whether he is doing anime like Ghost in the Shell or live-action like Avalon, the man is rightfully legendary for his action scenes, which are often iconic, and have been endlessly copied worldwide. A self-confessed gun nut, he combines incredible body movements with heavy metal fan-service like no other. It has therefore always been incredibly frustrating that he never seems particularly interested in making a straightforward action film, being more attracted to slow philosophical musings. More often than not his films turn out to be an acquired taste,...

Sleep is just one of those things you can’t seem to find during SXSW, no matter how many times you promise yourself you’ll get eight hours every night. It’s even more dangerous when you’re drinking at a bar and your phone all of the sudden switches from 2am to 3am. Thank you Daylight Savings for ruining my life.
SXSW Day 2 began with me filming B roll for an interview with Tatiana Maslany, which was incredible. The Orphan Black star was as effervescent as you would expect, glowing with the radiance of 1000 suns. This isn’t just me fangirling either; she’s an incredibly sweet and funny person and does not have a bad angle on camera. So that was a bucket list moment that I’ll never ever forget.
After interviewing her, though, I had a strange amount of downtime. I had finished my early morning...

The news isn't good for anyone hoping that The Mortal Instruments TV show, Shadowhunters, would improve in episode 2...
This review contains spoilers.
1.2 The Descent Into Hell Is Easy
Hum. Well, bad news for anyone hoping that the awkwardness of the first episode was temporary. The second episode of Shadowhunters is just as stilted, just as full of impenetrable mystic mumbo-jumbo, and just as keen on explaining exactly who and what everyone and everything is at insomnia-curing length. It’s starting to look like this show just isn’t going to be any fun.
We pick up where we left off last time: with Clary making the choice to trust Jace, the pouty stranger with the medieval weapons cache, rather than turning to her best friend and/or her pseudo-stepfather for help saving her mother from a madman. Granted, seeing actual evidence of demonic activity might’ve swung it in his favour,...
