Not Arrow?
MoodyU_24 June 2021
This is less a review and more a lesson. This episode marked the first appearance of The Green Arrow. I see someone disagrees with how he is portrayed... And they are sadly misguided. Justin Hartley did a stellar job in this and many episodes to come. So much so that 6 years later when they were branding the "Arrow" you all are familiar with now, there was almost an uproar from me and other fans alike that Hartley would not reprise the role.

Not to discredit Amell's version (Which I grew to love.) I'm just saying that without this Green Arrow, which widely built the popularity of the character, there would be no "Arrow" with this being the foundation that the show we now know and love was built upon.

Retelling of stories take creative leaps. That's like watching Superman II and screaming "That's not how he met Zod, Zod possessed Lex!" Sounds foolish doesn't it?

Getting Even in the Beginning of a Friendship
claudio_carvalho31 March 2008
While participating in a benefit party promoted by Lionel Luthor to raise funds for her campaign to the USA Senate, Martha Kent has an expensive necklace she borrowed from Lionel stolen by the Green Arrow. Lois confronts the Green Arrow, gets his ring and after the investigation of Chloe, Clark Kent finds that Oliver Queen is the contemporaneous Robin Hood. Later Lois is kidnapped by the owner of the security company that protects the millionaires that had been stolen by the Green Arrow trying to discover his identity. The Machiavellian Lex Luthor uses his father to test the loyalty of the insecure Lana Lang.

"Arrow" is so far the best episode of the Sixth Season. Clark Kent and Oliver Queen have different ethical principles, with Oliver defending that "the end justifies the means". Lois Lane is in love with Oliver Green and hating the Green Arrow without knowing that they are the same person. Lionel is on the thin and blurred line between the good and the evil and Lex is turning the despicable villain and greatest enemy of Clark in a very high rate. My vote is ten.

Title (Brazil): "O Arqueiro" ("The Archer")

Arrival of the Emerald Archer
Rcwilkinson1238 October 2007
'Arrow' introduces a character from the future Justice League of America, Green Arrow, in this exciting episode.

Lionel is holding a party and especially commending Martha's work in Washington when a necklace that Martha was wearing, given to her by Lionel, gets stolen in a blackout. Clark investigates and discovers that the "thief" is Oliver Queen, seen in this seasons' second and third episodes. However, Clark learns that Lionel had bought the necklace off the Black Market, that it had been previously stolen, and that Green Arrow, as a modern Robin Hood, was trying to return it to its original owner. Meanwhile, Oliver's love interest Lois Lane is determined to find this thief and reveal his secret identity.

This episode is awesome because it features a new superhero, one that will be a key ally of Superman, and creates an interesting twist with Oliver's potential girlfriend Lois loving and despising the same person.

One of the Best Episodes Yet
Peacecraft_epyon19 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
CAUTION: SPOILERS This has been one of the best episodes yet. The Green Arrows costume is great and his gadgets are just about as good as the nut from Gotham. Justin Hartley did a good job as Aquaman but Im personally not as hurt now that the pilot episode and the series didn't pick up because JUSTIN HARTLEY IS The Green Arrow. He's got the looks the charm the attitude. The best part of the episode and the prelude to the upcoming Justice League Episode is when Oliver Queen is talking to Clark at the end about teaming up. He says to Clark "You know...people like us need to team up...and you can't wait around for them to come to you." thats how the episode ends and I can't wait to see the Cyborg,The Flash,Green Arrow, and Clark team up in the upcoming episode "Justice." Something else that really had me on my seat is that When you first see the Green Arrow in action...you think...wait...he supposed to be a good guy...Basically he's pulling the robin hood act robbing from the rich and giving to the poor yada yada yada....but after a talk with clark he realizes he may be going about the wrong way...Even though he has good intentions...he knows that Clark may have a thing or two to teach him about truth, Justice, and the American Way.Great Episode...Can't wait to see more G.A.

Finally... the episode I was waiting for
andremarek6 December 2006
Arrow is simply amazing. Almost everything on it was top notch. The writing, the acting, the special effects... everything. I really felt as if the wait had finally ended, and the episode I had been hoping for all season had come at last.

Although it suffers from a some ironic plot points (just like most recent episodes of Smallville), the story is really good. I really like the incursion of the Green Arrow into the series. He's shaping up to be one of the best supporting characters Smallville's ever had.

I have to admit that when I had the chance to watch the Aquaman pilot, I didn't think much of Justin Hartley. I thought his acting was alright, but I also felt like the supporting players (like Ving Rhames and Lou Diamond Phillips) had stolen his scenes. Now I know why... this guy is not Aquaman, he's Green Arrow. He plays his character as great as it can be. He gets a lot of help from the writing staff, but he really pulls off the lines they write for his character. Specially that destiny loft scene at the end.

Erica Durance was also great in this episode, and particularly on that scene in which she's tortured. Tom Welling also delivers a great performance.

All in all, this really is one of the best episodes in the series and it really made me wish all the episodes were like this. I'm really looking forward to next week's "Reunion."

This isn't the Arrow I know
taraangel-4096018 February 2021
I've watched almost every episode of Arrow, and this isn't him. Oliver has never been a thief, and he doesn't have others kidnap and torture people like this guy did to Lex. This isn't Arrow, it's some dumb and unbelievable version of him. Sorry, but I like Arrow, and this isn't him.

The beginning of the CW years...
m-4782619 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
And the moment the show became barely watchable for me. This version of green arrow, is the best for me, though. Because it's the one that introduced me to the character. Other than that, I don't like his persona and think he drags season 6 down. Actually, it's one of my most hated seasons. I find it so boring, and only Lex and Lana's dangerous liaisons, are the thing that keeps me invested in the storylines. Lois's growing taste for investigative journalism, was introduced nicely, in probably the only season 6 episode I enjoyed so far. The one with the plant monster/phantom zone escapee, was god awful, and only the soundtrack was good. The premiere was so so, and why weren't they able to explain Jimmy Olsen and 112 krypto monster, looking so much alike?... « Arrow » the topic in hand, showed Lana blackmailing someone for the first time. And Lex and his father's relationship becoming more strained and complex. Ok, it was also about the infamous Arrow character, and how he was introduced to our heroes, including Lois and Clark, but I just don't care about this superhero stuff...
