Helping Mrs. Gillicuddy
JordanThomasHall11 July 2019
Lou stands on the sidewalks hawking "chocolate covered guessers". An inquisitive Mike the Cop pays 10 cents for one to find their merely malt balls. Walking down the sidewalk, Bud and Lou come across a little old lady, Mrs. Gillicuddy (Hallene Hill), with her furniture. She's been thrown out of her apartment for back rent. Lou is determined to help her by raising funds. After unsuccessfully begging for money on the sidewalk, Lou talks Mr. Fields into allowing Mrs. Gillicuddy into their apartment house on their account. Bud and Lou struggle to carry her furniture across the street and mistake a Salvation Army truck as passerby's help. They try to move a couch that's left behind but it rolls in front of Sam's (Benny Rubin) junk store who thinks Lou is taking his merchandise. When told of what happened to the furniture, Hillary suggests winning money by playing games at the carnival. Bud and Abbott rig a system to try and outsmart Fields' concession game. When they raise the money for Mrs. Gillicuddy they find things aren't what they seem.
