In a scene Det Munch tells Dr Huang that his father committed suicide when he was 13. In real life, Richard Belzer's father committed suicide when he was 22.
The prosecution uses bite mark evidence at the pre trial hearing. Bite mark evidence has since been shown to be unreliable and advances in DNA evidence has overturned numerous convictions based on bite mark evidence. Contrary to what was believed at the time by some forensic scientists, bite marks are not unique to individuals like fingerprints and DNA are.
John Munch is reunited with his uncle, Andrew Munch, the brother of his father, who committed suicide when he was 13. Munch had previously mentioned his father committing suicide to Amy Solway in the episode Painless (2004) and he mentions it again to George Huang in this episode.
