A fitting end to season two, excellent script with perfection among the cast, especially William Daniels guest starring in an appropriate role, and including Debra Mooney as Brenda's former mentor at the CIA. These two actors were cast impeccably into the two-parter.
The episode resumes the story of Brenda and Lieutenant Provenza having been on administrative leave, Detective Sanchez returns to Priority Homicide along with Sergeant Gabriel, Lieutenant Flynn, Lieutenant Tao and Detective Daniels. The squad returns, Robbery-Homicide is gone, especially Commander Taylor out of Brenda's office.
The matters at hand are to find who killed Malik's killer, to capture the CIA traitor and secure the stash of plutonium. Essentially find who murdered the murderer, to quote Brenda, he didn't stick an ice pick in his own head. Malik's mother proved to useless, but the teddy bears in Malik's room led to having his father bring the traitor out in the open.
Brenda declares if Dr. al-Thani is the guy from the car the night Malik was killed, then he knows there is someone else we are seeking; this is our chance for a twofer. After the capture, Brenda responds, you can't go back doctor; we have an awfully good set of prints from that ice pick you shoved in Voitski's ear. If you don't help us, I'm going to arrest you for murder. I need to know where that plutonium is. The traitor turns out to be Elaine's replacement, Richard Branch. The plutonium stash is recovered safely in Germany because the doctor gave the location to Brenda.
Andrew had to be satisfied all turned out without another killing, Brenda responded, I did exactly like you asked. The Germans have the separated plutonium, and the FBI has Richard. She added, and the CIA has Dr. al-Thani, plus I am told Richard Branch will be available to your de-briefers whenever you want him.
