Entwining the Lives of the Characters
claudio_carvalho19 May 2007
When Nikki wakes up, she sees the two criminals dead in her garage. She brings her son and finds a brand new Cadillac in her name and the bodies in the trunk, with instructions and a map to bury the corpses in the desert. Peter awakes in the hospital and his mother tells him that his father was depressed and committed suicide. When Peter decides to jump from the terrace of his building, his brother Nathan discloses that both can fly. Hiro is teleported to the Times Square and finds a comic book written by Isaac Mendez telling his saga. He goes to Isaac studio, finds him dead and is arrested by the police. A man pretending to be an exterminator bugs Mohinder's apartment, but he fights with the guy and is helped by his next door neighbor. In Los Angeles, the Police Officer Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) telepathically hears the voice of a child in a murder scene and is arrested as a suspect. Claire hides her heroic rescue in the fire and her evil stepfather discloses her abilities in her stolen tape.

In this second episode, the painter that paints the future is killed and a new telepathic character is introduced. The stories now begin to entwine in New York, and this episode was better than the first one. The ability of Nikki is intriguing, and I am curious how her image in the mirror interacts in the real world. I would speculate that it might be the reflection of her alter-ego. My vote is seven.

The One Where Niki Killed Those Guys...

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoy this episode quite a lot. I like to see the introduction of new characters.

In this episode, Niki wakes up in her garage with the criminal dead and torn to pieces. Obviously, she freaks out. She goes to pick up Micah and when she comes back, the bodies are in the trunk of a Cadillac and she has lost time. Meanwhile, Peter wakes up in the hospital. Hiro teleports to Times Square and finds Isaac dead on the floor, and then police arrest him. He discovers that he's actually in the future and then a giant bomb explodes in New York City. We meet Matt Parkman, a Los Angeles police officer who can read peoples' thoughts. And Claire hides the truth about who saved the man from the burning train car, and "lets" another cheerleader steal her thunder.

First appearance of: Matt Parkman.

Best part of the episode: When Hiro sees the bomb.

Worst part of the episode: When Peter is in the hospital.

Overall, I give this episode a 9 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Amazing.

This was my clincher

Warning: Spoilers
I am not sure if this will contain a spoiler so I checked it just in case. I missed the first Episode of Heroes and this was the one that got me hooked. See I think I watched it three times. Thank you internet! See, I rarely get to watch TV as I have small children, so the internet is my best friend right now. However, I am trying to catch Heroes as it is aired now. I just cant wait to see what is going to happen next. Some of my favorite parts are when HIRO yells "I did it!" and roams New York, and when Clare gets hit by the quarterback and has that look of disgust on her face as she straightens her neck out! I am so excited to see what is going to happen next. Oh, and the references to old comic books! That is just an added bonus!

A darker, more entertaining episode than the first...
DVD_Connoisseur25 July 2007
I was pleasantly surprised at the mature nature of the second episode of "Heroes". This is clearly a super-hero series aimed at an adult audience with gore galore and a serial killer on the loose.

Setting up more questions than answers, this cleverly written and directed episode is an exquisite torment. Just when I thought all the characters had been introduced, another hero appears in the form of "everyday" policeman, Greg Grunberg, whose power is he can read minds.

40-odd minutes flies by in a heartbeat watching this show. This is big-screen fun ported onto television...breathtakingly good.

Two episodes in and I'm addicted. As a latecomer to the series, I'm so glad I finally caught up with it.

Heroes: Don't Look Back moves the saga along smoothly
tavm17 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
The female high school cheerleader lets someone else in her squad take the credit for the fireman's rescue, after the last episode ended with the politician rescuing his brother from falling by flying, we find out that their father committed suicide because he was clinically depressed, the scientist's son from India gets saved from an intruder by a young woman who knew his late father as they search the father's apartment for what he was researching, the stripper from Las Vegas discovers dead bodies in her car trunk and realizes what her mirror reflection is capable of, and Hiro, from Japan, has teleported to New York City where he buys a comic book that depicts everything he's gone through so far and searches for the artist's apartment where he finds him dead and gets arrested where he finds from a newspaper that he's also traveled five weeks later! In addition, we meet Matt (Greg Grunberg), a police officer who can read minds. This second episode of Heroes moves the story along smoothly as we find more of what the potential special-powered beings are capable of. Grunberg makes a nice addition to the saga and the cheerleader's father has creepiness in spades as we find him looking at his daughter's stolen tape that depicts her powers. Heroes already has a full-season order having become NBC's biggest new hit of the season so we'll definitely see more of them as the adventure continues on!

Chapter Two 'Don't Look Back'
Prismark101 September 2020
The second episode introduces a new character. Policeman Matt Parkman who can read minds. He finds a little girl hiding in a murder scene and gets into a whole heap of trouble.

The word Sylar is mentioned. A grisly serial killer who rips out the brain of his victims.

Hiro is also in trouble with the law having teleported to Times Square. He finds a comic book written by Isaac Mendez telling his story. Hiro finds Isaac dead in his studio with part of his head cut off.

Heroes is setting up Noah Bennet as the villain, He is Claire's stepfather and keeping tabs on Mohinder.

It is another pacy episode but it also is dark. Heroes manages to keep its story moving. We learn more about the Petrellis and their father.

More intriguing is Niki Sanders powers and her dual personality. It really is powering on.

ughhhh
jpapanone27 November 2022
I watched this when it originally came on...way before dvr's and streaming etc.

I stopped watching after after maybe season 2 and never finished it...so i thought i'd give it another spin.

I barely remember bits and pieces.

Boy...this is gonna be rough. It doesn't look like it's very good...but 16 years ago, I wouldn't have known any better...watching on non hd tv etc.

1st episode was fine enough. No real negatives...pretty much what i remember.

But this...I forgot how much of a chore watching ali larter was. I assume the more she appears in an episode, the less i'll like it.

I have no problem with her necessarily, in particular...but the acting...the scenes...the storyline... ugh. Will be using the skip ahead by 15 to 30 second feature, i'm sure.
