Thi Sets The Stage For The Dramatic Second Part
ccthemovieman-112 December 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Boy, there are a number of stories that go on in this opening episode of season seven. Included in the stories is one at the end in which one of the series regulars, "Catherine Willows" (Marg Helgenberger) is drugged and raped. The episode ends with her waking up in a motel room and figuring out what happened.

The show begins with a performance by the famous circus act, "Cirque du Solei," which we see give an acrobatic performance. Backstage, however, a woman is found crushed to death.

Meanwhile, in another part of town, a man looks like he is an apparent suicide victim but how can the gun still be in his hand? Not a whole lot actually happens after that, as the really amazing things are in the second half of this two-part story.

This episode runs at a leisurely (but interesting) pace but all kinds of things happen in part II.

Cirque du Soleil and Possible Suicide and Rape
claudio_carvalho8 February 2023
When a performer of the Cirque du Soleil finds the body of a young woman underneath the stage, Grissom and Catherine learn from the manager that the body was moved since she was in the crush zone. After several investigation, including of the surveillance video footage, Nick finds the victim was with a young man and discovers her purse in the ground cork. They find her name, Celia Noel, and tickets for every performance of the Cirque du Soleil. Soon they are able to resolve the case. Meanwhile, Capt. Brass, Sara and Warrick investigate the body of a man shot in the mouth with the revolver in his hand in a party promoted by Sam Braun to celebrate the implosion of the Rampart Casino to build his Eclipse Casino. Sam identifies the victim as Robert O'Brien, who was one of the investors with a few shares of Eclipse with his partner Joe Hirschoff, and he believes the shot was during the implosion. When CSI team learns that the revolver is registered in the name of Joe, he becomes a person of interest. Meanwhile, Catherine and Nick go to a bar afterhours and Nick finds a female acquaintance and leaves Catherine to dance with the woman. Catherine drinks at the counter and out of the blue, she wakes up naked on the bed at a motel. Brass is awarded with a Medal of Valor.

"Built to Kill: Part 1" is a good episode of "CSI" with several segments. The tragic accident of Celia Noel is resolved by the efficient investigators, but the suicide of death of Robert O'Brien, the possible rape of Catherine and the death of the man in the kitchen will be resolved in the sequel. Brass awarded with a meal is well deserved and fortunately he is safe and sound now. The tattoo with the date is different. My vote is seven.

Catherine finds herself in a strange bed in a hotel room. Grissom discovers a miniature scene depicting the crime scene at the murder of a rock star.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was excellent. Near the end was the best part. After they've solved their cases, Nick and Catherine go out dancing. John Mayer guest stars at the bar they go to. Catherine drinks something at the bar and soon finds herself in a strange bed in a hotel room. Meanwhile, Grissom discovers a miniature scene depicting the crime scene at the murder of a rock star. Every detail is exactly the same. Viewers are left in suspense waiting for what will happen to Catherine. I thought this episode was amazing. It was a great way to start off the seventh season. This is by far one of my favourite episodes. All the actors on the show are excellent.

Gut Wrenching

This begins the "miniatures" work. It also has Catherine, obviously the victim of a date rape drug. There have been death of a rock star. The details of the murder are found in a miniature (doll house type). But there is more to come, so I will reserve more comment after the conclusion. The length of this gave us a chance to see performances by Cirque de Soleil and John Mayer.
