Its great.. my daughter and husband love it!
dinalin16 May 2007
Actually, my husband and my daughter LOVE this show! Its quirky, and creepy, and just plain not right.. BUT.. that is a good thing in our house! You have to appreciate its genius humor, and look beyond what you first see. The subtle script is clever, and the puppets, are just so ugly it works. So thumbs up for us, I hope they can maintain the humor and give us great new episodes soon. I agree that Nik has gone down hill and some of their new shows are horrible. My kids watch F- odd parents , spongebob, and mr meaty , and that is about it. Everything else stinks for the most part. My kids cant buy " Nik" games because they don't watch enough of the shows to answer the questions.

Strangely Overhated
isaiahralda13 February 2021
The show isn't great, but I feel like this show got hate based from the design of this show. Some people just assume a show's rating just by the visuals. Don't get me wrong, I do think the character designs are kind of ugly and weird, but the show does have a unique style of visuals. Obviously, the show isn't meant for kids under 7 because it could be frightening for them. I feel as though the show's design was trying to aim for kids 10 and older as it is tween or teen pandering. The visuals remind me of something from Comedy Central or Adult Swim.

For the show itself, it's not too bad. I've watched a few episodes, and I was mildly entertained. It's definitely not amazing, but some episodes were fairly decent. The comedy is decent, the stories are pretty basic, and the characters are okay. While this show isn't something you should watch right away, I think it's at least worth one watch for older audiences. This show is nothing special, but I do think it deserves maybe one watch for the older kids or teens.

worst show ever
werdupyo2 October 2006
wow...just when I thought that nickelodeon could not get any dumber. They proved me wrong by airing this poor excuse for a show. First of all, the puppets themselves are poorly made. They look so stupid. Are you kidding me? Mr. Rogers had better puppets. The plot is probably one of the worst I've ever seen. The jokes are dumb. They are so stupid. Nickelodeon is slipping. Whatever happen to those amazing shows like Invader Zim, Rocko's Modern Life, Angry Beavers, etc. etc. Those were some good shows. If you want to watch quality cartoons, watch Fairly Oddparents. Now that is good television. This show is idiotic and dumb. Hideous plot line, hideous characters, hideous everything. Wow...just...wow. Dumbest excuse of a show. Nickelodeon I'm ashamed. This show should of just been kept as a short and nothing more.

A Good Misunderstood Show
bogus5620017 January 2007
I cant believe people dislike the show Mr. Meaty. Maybe you just don't have a great sense of humor to enjoy this show. I see some complaining that their child will commit the acts that people on the show do, because I'm sure your child can build a time machine out of a microwave and sausage links, or make a zit remover that contains uranium or a radioactive material, or maybe they'll even get a machine that turns your whole local mall into zombies. I highly doubt it. I mean I haven't found one yet so I'm sure your child won't either. This show is just hilarious, and some people understand that. Others don't. This show was probably meant for the teen age, like drake and josh, because that appears on teen nick.. ahem... I rest my case

Mr. Meaty rocks the house no lie

This isn't good
sebabella17 November 2006
I yearn for Nickelodean to bring back good shows, like Hey Arnold! and Invader Zim, and several others, I know they can't bring all there great shows back, and re-runs don't interest kids much, and not all the current Nick shows aren't bad, I like Jimmy Neutron and the Fairly Odd Parents. But this is creepy, I like originality, but this is terrible, the "plots" are not good, and the look of the show seriously scary. Did I mention it was creepy? And the idea of a couple of slackers "puppets" working in a restaurant as a kid show? No, this shouldn't last long, I doubt Nick is cheap enough to do this, then again they drove Hey Arnold! off air, they could have saved that show, easily, it still had longevity, at least another 50 episodes. But Nick doesn't want quality, they want crappy TV, they know will make a quick buck off of. Again this show will not live to see another season

Appalling Attempt at Entertainment
lindsay175924 November 2006
(I hate to sound so rude, but these are my honest opinions of this show): I first saw a commercial for this show when I was getting ready to babysit my neighbor, an eleven-year-old girl. A commercial for this show came on, and her mother was disgusted. "Oh, no. Rebecca, you cannot watch that show. It's gross...ew!" The daughter needed no further persuading.

I later saw an actual episode which my younger brother and I watched, experimentally. It was as terrible as it's first impression. Not only are the puppets nasty-looking, but their characters are unoriginal and crude. The plot lines are terrible and boring. I didn't even finish watching the episode, I was so bored and appalled by it.

What is Nickelodeon coming to?! I remember how when I was little Disney and Nick had intriguing, thought-provoking, and creative shows. I mean, what is this? Do not watch this show! It is as terrible as it seems upon first glance.

An Under-Rated Gem

"🎵Scaunchboro Mall🎵!"

I used to watch this with my son when he was nine (he's 21 now); Mr. Meaty was the perfect blend of gross-out horror, social satire, and worm-lipped puppetry to suit both of us.

While not for everyone, Mr. Meaty most certainly IS for others of us.

An abomination
qjvrpyz3 June 2021
God should smite those who had any involvement whatsoever in this TV show's creation.

Both the characters and the story of Mr. Meaty are the pinnacle of disgust. There are absolutely NO redeeming qualities present. Though I have tried to forget for over a decade, the memories of Mr. Meaty still flood my consciousness, particularly when I am trying to fall asleep. It is pure, raw, and intense nightmare fuel. No amount of therapy can erase the damage that has been inflicted on my psyche by Mr. Meaty. I'll see their faces and hear their voices in my head for as long as I live. But can you really call that "living?"

Recommended only to the most determined of mental masochists.

crap
starbucks9590528 March 2007
This show sucks! It seemed alright at first, until i realized how much it sucked. Nick has gone completely downhill recently, they cancel the good shows and replace it with reruns of Spongebob or a new crappy show. An example are when they canceled Rocko's Modern Life 10 years ago, which is when they started to go downhill. The latest few shows have come straight out of Nickelodeon's a**. Wtf are they thinking now? El Tigre? Mr. Meaty? They also fill the empty slots with more reruns of Spongebob or Fairly Odd Parents (as mentioned earlier), and you think there can't possibly be any more. This is just another downward slope for Nickelodeon.

The Stuff Nightmares are Made Of
Nympho32783 April 2008
I don't even know what to say about this show other than it is the most disturbing thing I have ever seen. The puppets are so scary that its just plain hard to look at. I'm a big fan of horror but I can't even watch this show: it makes your skin crawl. The puppets look frightening and somehow sickening, the story lines are vulgar and dumb but those Puppets! What twisted minds even came up with this?! I can't think of a good reason for watching this show unless you are totally desensitized to horror films- then this show may be your last chance at a good, genuine scare. If I had seen this show, even a commercial, as a kid I would probably be too afraid to watch TV for the remainder of my childhood!

All I can say about Mr. Meaty is....
jsullivan2-124 November 2007
UNIHORN! (Name of my favorite Meaty episode.)

I don't have time to enumerate all the great aspects of this show (the fellow from St. Petersburg wrote 2000+ words, so rely on him). Mr. Meaty, as ugly and ungainly as it appears, is one of the funniest kids shows I have ever seen. The precision of the Valley speak parody is dead-on, even though the name of the mall, "Scaunchboro" conjures up something out of Rhode Island or suburban Boston.

Jimmy Neutron may have more clever quips per minute, but its stories do not resonate with the authenticity of Mr. Meaty. The mullet-ed teenagers and posturing mall rats bring a lot of California memories for me (born in LA, raised in Sacramento).

I will be grief-stricken if they do not bring back Mr. Meaty. And I'm 42.

This is The Worst Show Ever!
Jonas_fan1122 December 2006
I most definitely recommend not seeing any episodes of this show! this show might be good for ages 1 month-1 year, but if you are any bit older this will be pretty much pure torture! I have given this show at least 3 chances and every time I have given it a chance it is ruined. when I first saw commercials for this show I didn't think it would be good, and guess what I was right. I am most definitely not seeing this show! All of the characters are puppets and that is reason enough to hate it! I mean who would make a show out of puppets! I have even asked all of my friends if they like this show and they have said practically the same thing I am. I have not yet met one person that likes this show! I most definitely recommend not seeing this show!

Don't let the stars turn you away from this show. This is by far one of the funniest kids shows to watch when you are older. This show has some of the highest quality toilet humour you'll ever find.

A vegetarian's nightmare
nadiabruhman26 January 2022
As a keen vegetarian and soon to be priest, this film peaked my inner intrest.

With a high standard coming into this film, i am utterly dumbfounded by the sheer gall of this film to display this disgusting project to the public.

The two characters in this show are despicable, deplorable degrading characters which are harsh both on the ear and eye. I pray with every bone in my body, steer clear of this film for your own safety.

Hilarious, surreal, low brow show full of originality
cgearheart22 March 2019
Mr. Meaty is one show I always loved as a kid because of how daringly weird and funny it is. Sure, it's not really a show for kids but come on, it's Canadian. It's bound to be weird af. Like a Beavis and Butthead puppet show, but with much more imagination and originality. Mr. Meaty is chock full of colorful characters who are hilarious parodies of cultural stereotypes along with zany and weird villains and incredibly over the top situations. Mr. Meaty is a very funny and humorously macab show that will raise eyebrows and have you on the ground laughing. Acquired taste but great.

What the actual...hell?
tomdaly-174365 December 2018
Uhhh...who decided it was a good idea to put this on television? It's kind of hypocritical of me to write this because I saw little bits of it when I was a kid, and thought it was OK, but looking back, it just looks horrendous!

So, here's what happens: two lazy teenage boys work at a burger bar. That's it. OMG, was this plot written on the back of a postage stamp or something? Secondly, the characters are just ugly! They look misshapen Muppet rejects and are enough to give you nightmares for weeks!

I used to watch Sesame Street when I was little, and those puppets were good! This show, I can only assume it was aimed at teenagers. But what nihilistic teenager gets out of bed, turns off his Linkin Park and says, "Hey, Chris! I'm gonna need a rain check. That creepy Muppets/David Lynch show is on!"

In short, no words can fathom my horror towards this show. How it got conceived is beyond me. Avoid like the plague!

The worst show ever
arielsiere7 June 2022
Mr Meaty is my 11th least favorite show next to Too Loud! And Bubble Guppies this is the worst puppet show ever along with Wonder Showzen which was bad enough, i would rather watch The Penguins Of Madagascar because that show is so awesome in my opinion.

A breath of fresh air in the comedic puppet show entertainment industry
sherbf0019 November 2007
At a glance, I was first turned away from this show by the mere fact that it was produced using entirely puppets. In earnest, I have not watched a puppet show since "The Muppet Show" and "Sesame Street" back when I was a kid in the mid 80s. It seems in the modern day that the entertainment scene has tended to shy away from using this medium with the advent of more advanced methods of creating cleaner and more visually impressive cartoons (than was possible 20 years ago) and 3D animation imagery via modern computers. As such, not many are willing to put the effort into creating a show that uses puppets anymore.

As my younger relatives came to visit more often, I found myself glancing at the television screen more and more. After a short while, I realized that the attention to detail in this show was unparalleled when compared to puppet shows of the past. (And some ones from recent memory who's names escape me.) The last show (movie in fact) that caught my eye using puppets with this level of detail was "The Dark Crystal." That aside... when I was in college I worked in fast food on the side and found I could relate to some of the situations that the main characters find themselves in. A pushy loudmouth (and in this case evil) boss, irate and stupid customers, and mechanical mishaps just to name a few.

Parker steals the show with his cliché nerd fetishes (and some not so common one's as well) such as his obsession with fantasy games (like Dungeons and Dragons) and things like "Star Trek." I find myself laughing at the pure outlandish nerdyness of his actions on more than one occasion. His nerdyness is only paralleled by his good nature. Whenever Josh gets into a scrape, Parker is usually quick to bail his buddy out of trouble.

Josh is the typical "cool guy." Or... at least as cool as a guy that works in fast food can be. He is selfish and self serving... but not without conscience. When he does something nasty or wrong, he usually comes clean before all is said and done.

There is also a whole array of parody characters from the Vegetarian Hippie at the Vgen Fast food place, to the mindless security guard and even the frequent mall crawlers like the loud mouth kids (tater tots) and brainless pretty girls without 2 brain cells to rub together.

In conclusion... the visual effects are outstanding (for puppets), the story lines are well developed and witty, and as a whole the show is very entertaining. It's also good to see a fresh new show that utilizes puppets, as this form of entertainment is rapidly becoming a lost art. (They even removed the creatures in the original "Star Wars" with 3D computer generated replacements! A large insult to Jim Henson's creature shop I'm sure.) And when I have the younger relatives over for family functions, this is one of the few shows that we can all agree on to watch together. As such, I give it two thumbs up and hope to see more episodes developed in the near future.

A Great Show
bmanacles13 December 2009
When the first few clips of Mr. Meaty started to run on Nickelodeon, I'll admit it looked incredibly stupid. Two weird main characters who seemed to spend all of their time making up stupid things to do when they were bored. But when the 15-30 minute shows started to air, I realized it was an incredibly funny and creative show. Generally most kid's shows are recycled plot lines (not that there aren't a few in Mr. Meaty) and bad jokes...but Mr. Meaty was pretty creative. The main characters are a pair of teenagers named Josh and Parker, who work at (where else?) a fast food place called 'Mr. Meaty'. Now, this isn't your deep philosophical statement about life...that would be ridiculous for a kid's show. But it IS fun, and worth watching several times over.

Incredible, One of the Most Creative Shows I've Ever Seen
sjsz2 December 2006
Okay, I've seen this show enough times now to finally give a review and I feel it's necessary after reading some of the inane comments I've ever read on the internet in consideration of Mr. Meaty. It seems the creative potential of the American public to respond to genius like this series is starting to dry up. Prior to the late 1990s, Nickelodeon seemed to be overshadowed by Cartoon Network, but the tables have turned over the past few years and some of the most innovative cartoons on television currently are broadcast on the former. It's depressing, but it seems the days of Dexter's Laboratory are coming to an end. Nickelodeon, on the other hand, has really managed to bring their status up amongst critics, no longer relying on the absolute garbage that is Spongebob Squarepants, a series that relies so heavily on animation styles and humor basically stolen from Ren and Stimpy one wonders why anyone even watches it. Ren and Stimpy was one of the cartoons that really put Nikelodeon on the map, in spite of controversy, and since then nothing has really caught my attention that much on the channel, though there are several good shows. Enter Mr. Meaty. Mr. Meaty is one of the greatest shows I have ever seen, and to see something like this on a channel considered primarily for children while holding what I would assume would be one of the best spots on the schedule really raises my spirits for commercial American culture, even though this series is actually from Canada. Mr. Meaty is a show where all of the action is filmed using puppets. However, unlike a show like Eureeka's Castle, Mr. Meaty is heavily laced with some of the most abstract and avant garde humor I've ever seen from a children's show. Not only is it criticized as being one of the grossest shows on television, at times the humor though not bad in any way, clearly was intended for adults and that makes me happy. Kids sometimes will laugh at anything goofy so they've got enough of that here, but it takes some clever scripting to get the adults. At any rate, Mr. Meaty features wonderful caricatures you'll swear you've seen in droves at any mall by using puppets with heavily exaggerated bodies in order to achieve this effect. Some of the girls act so similar to teenagers I've seen it's somewhat disturbing, since everyone tends to look so strange due to the fact that these are some of the creepiest puppets ever. Case in point is Edward R. Carney, the man who owns the restaurant in the series and rides around on a wheechair with bull horns on it and looks almost like a diseased, green, oozing skeleton of a man who talks with an exaggerated, Texan accent. In a recent episode, Parker and his friend create a girlfriend out of meat products, DNA from some girls they know and Parker's own DNA, which ends up being a puppet that looks essentially like someone without their skin, with flies all over the place (done using sticks that are meant to appear visible instead of clear so they look even more ridiculous). But that's not all you can expect here. First, throw in some creative lyrics and you've got yourself an excellent soundtrack. Mr. Meaty has a hilarious opening theme, featuring a line that's apparently offended vegetarians and vegans: "All of God's creatures, fresh off the grill!" Kind of funny they take offense to that, because the series is clearly a slap at the fast food industry and our tendency to overeat meat products, not to mention our general mistreatment and disregard of animals in the process. I'm surprised they're actually offended by it, if anything they should revel in it because there have been numerous occasions I've seen clever cracks at fast food restaurants and our opinions of them. They generally separate the main action with songs like this, hilarious cut shots featuring frying chicken nuggests and such ala' Batman, and heavier rock for other scenes. Throw this all together with the most creative plots of all time and you've got a great show. I've never seen a show so creative with scripting, especially when one looks at the generally drab and overused structure of American media currently. All of the action in Mr. Meaty occurs in a fast food restaurant, from which the show gets its title, inside of a mall and it's pretty amazing they've managed to be this innovative considering the fact that the majority of the action occurs in the same location every time. The two main characters who work at the restaurant, Josh and Parker, face a variety of strange adventures from their space in the food court. In general, most shows on television anymore, especially those for children, rely on reused gags, phrases and clichés in order to attempt to make people laugh. The herd will generally laugh at anything as long as it fits these familiar models, but to really get the attention of people like me, you need something like this show. There's not much more I can say without reviewing particular episodes. All I can say is if you're looking for one last hope for underground fans who watch movies like Meet the Feebles and old shows like Ren and Stimpy, it seems Nickelodeon has finally returned to its former glory with this series. Every episode I've seen thus far has been absolutely hilarious, and thankfully the corporate power behind this beauty has yet to chage its format or take it off the air, as many people have apparently been crying about. Such people, are, however, total idiots. Watch this show, and if you don't like it, which you may not, then go back to Jimmy Neutron or some other sort of drivel.

Great Stuff Cooking Up in Mr. Meaty
TEAQUIEMORO22 September 2006
I just want to thank Nickolodean to show "Mr.Meaty" because this show is a man's show, every gross man stuff to see. Some jokes are corny but the rest like farting, turning into something, and uncleaned is way funny. They make the girls voices sound so boyish( which could be )and because of that it makes it also funny. It is unrefreshed and uncleaned for guys like us, they stopped making man stuff. But now it makes a come back by showing "Mr. Meaty". I can't wait until I get to see the next new "Mr. Meaty" episodes, because today's was funny, about Josh and Parker in a buffalo costume and Parker turning into a girl, boy I can't wait.

I love this show
tommypezmaster26 June 2007
This show is so funny. I usually don't get to watch it because I'm in school. But I do like this show. I think Parker is funny, and even has a funny voice. My most favorite part is hearing the 'p' word in this show (Porker). I also like it when I hear Farts to block out the screaming costumers. I've seen most of the episodes of "Mr. Meaty". I like Parker because sometimes he can be funny. I think Ed Carvey can be mean at times beating up people he doesn't like. When the kids do something wrong, the Cop, Doug, gets all over them, yelling and beating them with a cop stick.

This show is not bad. After watching a few episodes, I got used to it. I hope decided to take back everything they said abysmal about this show & say that CatDog is abysmal . It is very nice. I also don't care about what other people think of this show, even if it makes people puke.

My kids love it!!!
tterry-320 December 2006
This show seems a bit off-kilter for daytime Nick, but it is a really funny show. I watch adult swim for myself and my youngest has this show's entire season autodownloading from iTunes for an iPod. Is it rocket science or socially responsible? Heck no! But then not much else ever was on this channel either. For that matter, it's silly, gross and distasteful-just what kids will remember about this show long after it's gone... Every one of the naysayers of this show watched and loved a show that was as useless as this when they were young and even when they were older. Stop expecting Masterpiece Theater for gods sake, it's Nickelodeon...and every kid that I know that is aware of this show likes it!
