The internet was in shock yesterday as reports broke saying that Colton Haynes is leaving Teen Wolf, though producers denied the report. E! adds that the show decided to move on because Haynes' team took took long to respond to an offer for Haynes to stick around for two more seasons.
It's official, NBC announced that it will air the Mockingbird Lane pilot on October 26, leading into that synergestic Halloween episode of Grimm. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed it pulls a Nightingales and does well enough to get a series order (though I hope it turns out to be a better series than Nightingales).

Bigger is better when it comes to Montreal's Just for Laughs Comedy Festival. What began in 1983 as a two-day Francophone event has grown into the biggest comedy festival in the world. From July 12 to 29, about 250 comics from North America, England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, and around the globe will preside over Montreal's comedy clubs, black-box theaters, and gala events."The fact that we have a bigger festival is a testament not to the fact that it's our 30th anniversary but more that the comedy world is strong and comedy is growing as an art form," says Robbie Praw, the fest's director of programming. Among the boldface names scheduled to participate are Aziz Ansari, Jim Gaffigan, Bill Hader, Jimmy Carr, Bob Saget, Mario Cantone, Wayne Brady, Joel McHale, and Lewis Black."We are part of the comedy community," Praw says, "and I'd like to think that our festivals represent who...

Sable & Batalion’s The Legend of Beaver Dam has been playing some of the premiere film festivals since September. It played Tiff, Fantastic Fest, Stiges and just recently played at Sundance 2011. I received a screener prior to Fantastic Fest – thank god because I missed it on the big screen because of my schedule – and I fell in love with it. The short film takes the familiar story of an urban legend being told at a campfire setting. However, the end result of this fantastic short film is anything short of predictable. Blood and the piercing screams of horror & rock are just some things you can find in this 10 minute blessing. Today, I bring you the long delayed interview with the director, Jerome Sable.
You can read my review of the short film here shortly. I was very excited to get to interview Jerome at Fantastic Fest. Then I got the...

Bill Hicks is one of the most renowned cult figures in the world of comedy, adored across the world for his unique brand of astoundingly filthy yet spell-bindingly poetic satire. But relatively little is known about his personal life, and in the fifteen years since his untimely death, only a smattering of short documentaries and live recordings has kept his memory alive. Well Matt Harlock and Paul Thomas have put this glaring injustice to rights with their passionately detailed and evocative feature documentary, American: The Bill Hicks Story. They were granted unprecedented access to the Hicks’ estates mountainous archive of unseen footage and photographs collected by the wild man himself throughout his career. They have been given what may well be the last say on one of America’s most important spokespersons, and they have proved more than worthy of this huge responsibility. Tcr: How did a project like this leapfrog La,...

Though NBC had mixed results with their Howie Do It, the alphabet network has decided to bring back their own hidden camera show.
An import from Canada, Just for Laughs captures pranks, tricks, and practical jokes played on unsuspecting victims. Whether it’s a jumping cake, an out-of-control wheelchair, a fake skunk, or two ladies with walkers in the middle of a street, the show keeps its unsuspecting victims guessing and confused.
Hosted by Rick Miller, the series began its Us run in the Summer of 2007. Laughs completed its first season in September of that year and was a strong enough performer to be renewed for a second run.
Year two began airing in January 2008 and didn't perform as well as expected. In May, Laughs was cancelled after having completed its second season.

The Fine Brothers—Benny and Rafi Fine—are well known in the web video scene these days, netting over 21 million views and counting on their growing library of videos. Their clever brand of offbeat humor has been in high demand lately, as the comedy duo recently signed on with Just For Laughs to produce a second season of Lost Parodies, their hit action-figure spoof of ABC's Lost. Add another feather to their caps, as they have now signed a multi-sketch deal with video site iKlipz. The first sketch, "What is Eggnog?" is up today on the site (see above). The videos will be exclusively on iKlipz.com for one week, then will be released to their super popular YouTube channel, which has been steadily climbing up YouTube's most subscribed comedy list thanks in part to the success (over 1.2 million views) of their recent "100 Movie Spoilers in 5 Minutes" video.

Web comedy pioneers The Fine Bros have been signed to produce season two of their original web series Lost Parodies for Montreal-based video comedy site Just For Laughs. The Fine Bros' popular web series parody of ABC's Lost is a live action satire drama starring action-figure puppets. Benny & Rafi Fine have produced online comedy videos for more than four years racking up over 20 million combined views, including the banned-from-YouTube G.I. Joe parody Epic Saga featuring the Hasbro brand action-figures. Easily one of the brothers' most popular series, Lost Parodies has garnered over 4 million views across the internet, so it was no surprise that Just For Laughs, which prides itself on its commitment to finding and partnering with established internet comedy brands, took interest in the series. "Just For Laughs ended up being the perfect match to give the show a home beyond our usual destinations, and give them a...

Comedian Rick Miller recently adapted the Shakespeare classic Macbeth into a one-man production by casting characters from The Simpsons into the dark play about lethal ambition. Backed up by a simple stage, a few props and a slipcovered television as Express Night Put it, Miller created and performed the adaptation all by himself, using mostly Shakespeare's original words. He says they were fairly easy to adapt.
"'Macbeth' is a pretty simple, straightforward story," Miller said. "It's probably one of the shorter tragedies — it seems to fit very well with this one dysfunctional family doing another dysfunctional family."
Miller tags the production as “MacHomer,” where Homer Simpson plays the titular character, the ambitious man who murders the king to capture the throne. Miller casts Marge Simpson as Lady MacBeth, Barney Gumble as Macduff, and millionaire Montgomery Burns as Duncan, the king.

Montreal - Up-and-coming talent was in the spotlight Wednesday night at the 26th annual Just For Laughs comedy festival here as an annual competition of Canadian comedians and the first of two "New Faces" showcases drew big crowds of industry folks and fans alike.
As the English-language portion of Jfl moved into its hot phase, Tyler Hawkins Wednesday won the annual "Homegrown" competition of Canadian standups, with Phil Hanley clinching the runner-up spot.
The competition was judged by an industry jury made up of "Chelsea Lately" talent executive Michael Cox, the Tonight Show's Ross Mark, Michelle Daly from the Comedy Network and TV Land Canada, as well as ABC/ABC Studios casting manager Billy Murphy.
Hawkins scored laughs with jokes with a tongue-in-cheek twist on men's experiences meeting women at bars ("I just wanna dance with my buddies.") and his fat buddy Dave who keeps him out of trouble.
Hanley drew a strong audience response with his stay-at-home son shtick. His opener ("I am not only a comedian, I'm also a stay-at-home son.") already had the crowd in stitches, and he followed up with punchlines about wearing his father's cardigan ("It is also a powerful contraceptive.") and his being less computer-savvy than his appearance might suggest. He closed with a relationship joke (asking why people know right away when they meet "the right one," but take a year to realize when they meet the wrong one) that led to a loud ovation from the audience.
Among other "Homegrown" performers, Dan Bingham and host Deb Digiovanni also drew consistent laughs from the crowd.
Sean Patton in the New Faces show also earned positive reviews for his offbeat and edgy Wednesday night set about such things as picking fights and broken hearts.
At a midnight show that put the spotlight on musical comedy and was also a hot ticket among agents, managers and TV executives, the audience particularly loved online favorites Jon Lajoie with his rap about being an average guy and young Bo Burnham with his songs about love and sexuality.
Among the other acts that industry attendees of Jfl were buzzing about Wednesday were one-man shows by Danny Hoch and Brendon Burns, as well as standup Maz Jobrani.
Thursday marks the start of the inaugural Just Comedy industry conference and market organized by Jfl and Achilles Media.

Reality shows jockeyed for position Tuesday night, including the debut of CBS' Secret Talents of the Stars and the second week of Fox's Hell's Kitchen.
Fox won the night with American Idol (24 million viewers, 8.9 preliminary adults 18-49 rating and a 24 share) despite the veteran series dropping 7% this week to register its lowest Tuesday performance since 2003.
The Idol dip barely impacted Hell's Kitchen at 9 p.m. (11.7 million, 5.4/13). Kitchen was down only a tenth from last week's premiere despite having a smaller lead-in. The performance suggests that, with a little help from Idol, Fox's usual summer series might be able to maintain a consistent top-shelf performance in spring.
NBC had a good night in second place, with The Biggest Loser posting its best number since January and up 12% week-to-week (9.1 million, 3.7/9). Its "Law & Order: SVU" repeat won the 10 p.m. hour (8.6 million, 2.9/8).
Coming in third, ABC was led by a season low Dancing With the Stars results show (16.5 million, 3.5/9), with the finale of Just for Laughs as a lead-in (5.6 million, 1.5/4) and Boston Legal holding court afterward (10.2 million, 2.4/7).

In a clash of reality titans, Fox's American Idol battled with the second night of ABC's Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday.
The two-hour Idol (26.8 million, 10.3/25) predictably came out on top, besting Dancing by 200% in the 9 p.m. hour. But Fox's singing competition took a hit too, being pushed to a season low. And the 90-minute Dancing (16.8 million, 4.0/10) was still the No. 2 show of the night.
Fox won the night in viewers and adults 18 to 49, followed by ABC. After Dancing, ABC premiered the new comedy "Miss/Guided" (10 million, 2.9/8), which won the hour but declined significantly from its lead-in. ABC opened their night with a repeat of "It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown" (6.3 million, 1.9/5) which proved Charlie Brown specials do better during the holidays. Just for Laughs followed (5.1 million, 1.6/4).
In a close third place, NBC had two hours of The Biggest Loser (7.9 million, 3.1/8) and a repeat.
CBS was fourth with a repeat followed by Big Brother (5.4 million, 2.0/5) and the penultimate episode of Jericho (5.8 million, 2.0/5).

The debut of Fox's drama New Amsterdam won the 9 p.m. hour Tuesday night with a solid premiere rating aided by a typically massive American Idol lead-in.
Amsterdam, about an immortal New York City detective, has been pushed around the schedule this season and critic reviews were lukewarm. But last night's debut was the second highest-rated show of the night after Idol (28.2 million viewers, 10.5 preliminary adults 18 to 49 rating and a 26 share) which dipped 5% from last week to hit a Tuesday night season low. Amsterdam (13.7 million, 4.6/11) retained 44% of the Idol rating, down a tick from the 46% held by last year's The Wedding Bells.
NBC was the No. 2 network across the board last night, with a two-hour Biggest Loser (8.7 million, 3.5/9) and a repeat "Law & Order: SVU" (9.4 million, 2.9/8).
CBS was third, with a repeat NCIS (10.6 million, 2.1/5) followed by Big Brother (6.7 million, 2.5/6) and Jericho (5.9 million, 1.8/5).
In fourth, ABC aired an hour of Just for Laughs (4.9 million, 1.4/3), According to Jim (5.6 million, 1.9/5) and the finale of Carpoolers (4.2 million, 1.5/4).

Fox's American Idol readily dominated broadcast competitors Tuesday night, showing both gains and losses compared to last week's performances. But the second-week airings of CBS's Big Brother and Jericho suffered sharp ratings declines.
The two-hour edition of Idol scored an 11.2 preliminary Nielsen rating among adults 18 to 49, which is down 9% from last Tuesday, yet up 14% from its Wednesday showing. Overall, Fox won the night in the demo and among total viewers (28.8 million), beating the other broadcast networks combined by 14%.
NBC's two-hour The Biggest Loser (3.3) held up best against Fox's fire. NBC says the Loser rating was the network's highest non-Olympics program ever against a regular two-hour Idol telecast. At 10 p.m., a repeat of NBC's "Law & Order: SVU" (3.3) won the hour.
CBS came in third, with a pair of original programs that premiered last week enduring dramatic ratings drops. Following a repeat of NCIS (2.1), Big Brother (1.9) fell 24% and Jericho (2.0) was down 23%.
ABC's lineup came in fourth, with a pair of Just For Laughs (an original that earned a 1.2 and a repeat that scored a 1.3), followed by originals of According to Jim (1.6), Carpoolers (1.4) and Boston Legal (1.9).
The two-hour edition of Idol scored an 11.2 preliminary Nielsen rating among adults 18 to 49, which is down 9% from last Tuesday, yet up 14% from its Wednesday showing. STRIKE ZONE: LATEST NEWS AND UPDATES
In a precursor to what is in store for the Golden Globes coverage on NBC, CBS' strike-impacted, pretaped "People's Choice Awards" averaged a 1.6 rating/4 share among adults 18-49 and 6 million viewers overall and shedding viewers every half-hour, according to preliminary Nielsen data. In adults 18-49, that was down 54% from last year's live ceremony broadcast.
NBC dominated the night with "The Biggest Loser" (4.3/11, 10.2 million) and "Law & Order: SVU" (5.1/14, 15.2 million), which combined to give NBC the highest Tuesday 18-49 tally with non-Olympics programming in more than two years.
Teen fave "One Tree Hill" returned to the schedule with a strong two-hour season premiere, delivering CW's best Tuesday ratings for the season in total viewers (3.5 million), adults 18-34 (2.1/6) and key female demos.
ABC barely registered with original "Just for Laughs", "According to Jim", "Carpoolers" and live coverage of the New Hampshire primaries as well as an encore "Cashmere Mafia". The network finished last, behind CW, in the 18-49 demo.
For the night, NBC led the pack with a 4.6/12 among adults 18-49 and 11.8 million viewers overall.

Fox got the week started Monday with the early premieres of "Prison Break" (7.5 million viewers, 3.3 rating/9 share) and the new "K-Ville" (8.9 million, 3.3/8). Both shows won their hours, with the main 8 p.m. competition being NBC's "Deal or No Deal" (11.7 million, 3.1/9) and 9 p.m. a repeat of CBS' "Two and a Half Men" (10.8 million, 3.2/8) and a new "The Singing Bee" (7.8 million 2.8/7) on NBC. "Deal" was the night's top show in viewers.
A two-hour "The Biggest Loser" (7.9 million, 3.4/9) on NBC and CBS' finale of "Big Brother" (8.7 million, 3.4/9) were the big winners Tuesday, while two episodes of ABC's "Just for Laughs" (with 8:30 p.m. averaging 7 million viewers and a 2.2/6) and CBS' "Power of 10" (7.8 million, 1.9/6) couldn't keep up. Neither could a two-hour ABC News special, "Elvis: Viva Las Vegas" (6.4 million, 1.8/5).
Wednesday went to Fox thanks to the premiere of "Back to You" (9.5 million, 3.1/10) that beat CBS' "Kid Nation" (9.4 million, 3.1/9) head-to-head as well as "Deal" (9.9 million, 2.5/8) and the CW's "America's Next Top Model" (5.2 million, 2.5/8).

NEW YORK -- Reality had a four-way rumble in Tuesday's primetime, with a rare night of all four networks having original reality shows vying in the 8 p.m. hour. NBC came away with a narrow victory in the 8 p.m. hour and a slightly wider one for the entire night.
CBS came close with the premiere of Power of 10, which didn't set any records ablaze though it seemed to give NBC's America's Got Talent a run for its money between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. But America's Got Talent (10.7 million, 3.2 rating/10 share in adults 18-49) still came out on top for the 8 p.m. hour and the entire night, according to preliminary estimates released Wednesday by Nielsen Media Research.
Power of 10, on the other hand, came in a strong second with 9.2 million viewers and a 2.7/9 in the demo, well ahead of ABC's Just for Laughs (6.6 million, 2.0/6) as well as Fox's underperforming On the Lot (2 million, 0.9./3).

NEW YORK -- NBC won Tuesday's primetime with the combination of America's Got Talent and freshman hit The Singing Bee.
NBC prevailed in the first two hours of primetime in viewership and the adults 18-49 demographic before splitting the victory at 10 p.m. with ABC, which tied in adults 18-49. Both the most-watched show and the highest-rated show in adults 18-49 belonged to NBC, according to preliminary estimates released Wednesday by Nielsen Media Research.
The night began with a big win for America's Got Talent (10.7 million, 3.1 rating/10 share in adults 18-49) between 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. There was a comfortable margin between Talent and ABC's Just for Laughs (7.3 million, 2.5/8) not to mention CBS' repeat NCIS (7.8 million, 1.7/8) and Fox's On the Lot (2.3 million, 1.0/3).
CBS improved at 9 p.m. with Big Brother (7.1 million, 2.8/8), while ABC declined with Shaq's Big Challenge (5.5 million, 2.1/6) and Fox came in fourth in adults 18-49 with a repeat House (5.9 million, 2.0/6). NBC won with "Bee" (9.8 million, 3.2/9), which was about even with last week.
