Lorelai and Michel attend to a cotillion dance
irina_ptrsc15 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
When Richard (Edward Herrmann) and Emily (Kelly Bishop) have no real reaction to the news of her break up with Luke (Scott Patterson), Lorelai (Lauren Graham) suddenly realizes that most of her emotional life has been based on doing and feeling the opposite of whatever her parents want. Later, when Michel (Yanic Truesdale) forces Lorelai to attend Emily's beautiful cotillion dance, Lorelai discovers that some things her parents wanted for her weren't really that terrible. Rory (Alexis Bledel) has a tough time making her long-distance relationship with Logan (Matt Czuchry) work. After taking Rory out for a father/daughter dinner, Christopher (David Sutcliffe) makes a startling confession to Lorelai.

Kinda boring episode.

Warning: Spoilers
It wouldn't be a comedy if the intro reflects on what Lorelei should be feeling (sad, depressed) because of the horrible break up with Luke.. but no, they have to have amnesia so they can cheer us up.

Lorelai said Luke was the first men she was in love with... I bet what happened was also new to her.. and I bet it must have hurted, a lot. But we see them at Emily and Richard's house, making jokes like a duet in a stand up comedy.

Not relatable.

She's dressed like Santa.

I don't get why they both always dress formal.

Emily is training the grandaughter of a friend table manners and more stuff for a so called "cotillon". A lot of ridiculous frivolous and unnecessary stuff. Like Lorelei said: train a new generation to be snobs.

Emily doesn't miss the oportunity to treat that child awful at times.

Hysterical Lorelei don't like when her parents talk about her life and interrogate her... and now has the same defensive and angry attitude because they didn't.

I guess, out of loneliness, she calls back Chris.

Kinda boring episode.

Lousy

I hate the way the show is going this year. They are trying to make us think that Chris has been this great guy all these years and, yet, he has been portrayed as an irresponsible man and father to Rory until he came into some money. Now, he is just the best?? You have got to be kidding!! This show was started on the assumption that Luke and Lor would come together as a unit and stay together. I could see some bumpy times like all relationships but not jumping out of Luke's bed one night and into Chris' bed the next nite. I sure hope young people aren't watching this show. It sure isn't sending a good message to them. I have all 6 seasons on DVD but, so far, will be saving money on this one.

Some of us hard core Gilmore Girl fans have been expecting Luke and Loreli to end up together for six seasons now. So the turn of events with Christopher back in Lore's life has made some of us a little sad. BUT! Remember Loreli's past with Max, she needs closure from Christopher. Enjoy the ride. As much as I want Luke and Loreli together its fun watching the chemistry between Loreli and Christopher. Luke and Loreli will come to their senses, but remember the season has just started. While they figure things out we also get to see Luke get close to his daughter April. Remember season one where Luke always looked at Loreli with that "look". He still does! As the characters get older so do we, so we have to accept change in their story lines. I'm a dedicated fan and look forward to Tuesday nights, with my bowl of popcorn and at the minimum laughing out loud about three times.Don't loose faith in the Gilmore Girl writers. They will not disappoint their fans!

Lorelais first cotillion.. or is it?

Warning: Spoilers
Didn't Lorelai grow up going to some cotillions? Her and Christopher talk about them to Rory and Dean in earlier seasons. Anyways, this is another boring season 7 episode. Christopher and Lorelai are going to try to have a relationship, Rory is missing Logan, and Lane is complaining about her pregnancy. Michel being excited about the cotillion is actually pretty funny but that's about it. Not a great episode in my opinion.

Not good

Probably one of the weakest episodes of the whole series.

It started out strong with dinner at Richard and Emily's which is always an entertainment goldmine (once you realise Lorelai is dressed like Santa though you can't unsee it - gotta love early 00's fashion), but unfortunately it's all downhill from there.

I think it was because there was way too much Michel this episode (I don't find him funny or endearing at all) so I skipped through his scenes.

I enjoyed Lane and Zac and the scenes regarding their new "adventure". And Babbette and Miss Patty as always. Luke's new hat is super cringe.
