Shadow and Bone attracted attention even before its release on Netflix. It was awaited both by fans of the original source – Leigh Bardugo's novels, and by fantasy lovers who had not read the books. However, as is often the case with Netflix projects, Shadow and Bone was canceled after its second season.
If you still miss that magical fantasy atmosphere, then these series are definitely for you.
1. Carnival Row, 2019-2023
Centaurs, fairies, fauns, and other fairytale creatures have increased the population of the city of Burgue, but the people are not too happy about their new neighbors. The city even has a separate area called Carnival Row, where non-humans live. An unknown madman has started hunting magical creatures, killing them and leaving almost no evidence.
The investigation is taken over by a former military man, now Detective Philostrate, almost the only police officer who does not feel hatred and contempt for the magical inhabitants.

Batwoman is bringing a beloved comic book character into the fold during its third season.
Per Deadline, the incomparable Bridget Refan has landed the role of Pamela Isley, aka Poison Ivy.
Isley is a former botany student at Gotham University and is described as a "passionate, brilliant scientist with a mind for changing the world for the better.”
Isley's plans changed when her colleagues experimented on her and injected her with various plant toxins, which turned her into the villain of Batman.
“With a formidable power coursing through her veins, Pamela used her powers to do what she thought was right… even if Batman and those closest to her disagreed with her dangerous methods,” per the official character synopsis.

Don’t tell Bridget Regan to take a day off.
“I’ve got that thing in me where I get really anxious and restless if I’m not working. I drive my agents and managers nuts because I’m like, ‘It’s Tuesday. I’m free. Can I get a job?’” Regan, star of TNT’s The Last Ship, says with a laugh. “I don’t like to stop. I don’t like to slow down.”
The 35-year-old actress is no stranger to juggling at least three or four television shows at any given time. Just last year, Regan was at one point balancing her duties on The Last Ship with Jane the Virgin and the since-canceled Agent Carter. Asked what inspires Regan to have the drive to stay hungry and strive for more, her reasoning is simple.

In a television landscape increasingly marked by dramatic transformations, from Netflix’s unprecedented rise on the awards circuit to FX’s rebranding as a top-tier network, MTV has been fairly (and, not to beat around the bush, disappointingly) uniform in its expectations for scripted originals: consummately photogenic stars, dialogue specifically geared toward teen audiences, and soapy storytelling short on subtlety.
Unfortunately, those same network standards grate – agonizingly so – on The Shannara Chronicles, MTV’s latest and most ambitious series to date. Adapted from the bestselling high fantasy novels by Terry Brooks, the show aims to occupy the middle ground between The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, spinning a fantastical yarn full of elves, demons, ancient sorcerers and magical prophecy. But instead, its jarringly anachronistic writing and overly glossy execution, clearly designed to appeal to teen audiences, leaves it stranded somewhere...

Lakeshore Records will release the Pay The Ghost – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on September 18th. The album features the film’s original score by Joseph LoDuca (Spartacus, Ash Vs. The Evil Dead). “There are three aspects to my music for Pay The Ghost that made the experience memorable,” said LoDuca. “I am pleased with the result of my close collaboration with Uli Edel (director) on a horror/thriller score that relied primarily on electronic sound. Over several sessions together, creating dark atmospheres with a gnawing sense of tension was our primary objective.”
A supernatural thriller based on a short story by Tim Lebbon. Pay The Ghost kicks off on Halloween night, when a couple’s young son is mysteriously abducted. A year later, they begin to sense his presence in frightening ways. A string of terrifying clues draws them to search for the boy throughout New York, where they...

Constantine TV Review (NBC)
The world of sci-fi television is growing by leaps and bounds, and the comic-related realm is especially skyrocketing as of late, but even in the new era of television, Constantine is a massive gamble. A weird hybrid of film noir-esque motifs and traditions, and the wildest fantasy filled with demons, angels and everything in between, it’s a story tailor made for self-professed comic geeks. Superheroes are one thing, but Constantine, popular as it is within its own circle, is a niche in a niche, and it’s in a small box in the corner of that room besides.
Convincing the numbers NBC is going to want isn’t going to be easy, and the somewhat half-hearted special effects budget isn’t going to help.
